Time to get a rank seperation in Tourneys
Matchmaking shouldnt be related at all to glory ranks. They are meaningless.
A good new player would have to farm for 8 months to compete
Glory ranks actually DO make a difference. A brand new player, no matter how skilled, will not know as much about the maps, tactics, all of the other builds of the other classes, how to counter them.
I completely agree that someone can be rank 40 and not be as good as someone who is rank 5-6 and took the time to actually pay attention…
But more often than not, I think you’ll find that the higher of a rank someone is, the more likely they will understand more of the tactics utilized in the game. It’s not a set in stone rule so much as a base guideline, and I feel like if you use that guide, it’s better than not having any calculation at all.
With regards to the rest of the OP’s statements – I do not agree that solo queue and team queue should be separated. It causes too many other problems. I solo queue a lot – what I end up doing is if I run into someone good while I’m in a match, I ask them to queue with me. Eventually, you start building up a group of people on your friends list that you know are good. If you’re set on winning every single match, just invite them. It’s not that hard. The game isn’t complex enough to require voice chat. You can get by without it and do just fine.
Just a suggestion to make solo queuing a little more bearable

Id say anyone that has a class champion title should be elegible for high rated tournaments if he has enough mmr. This game pvp will never grow if you make new good players fight rank 1-39 for 5 months. They will go back to insert random moba
I think a better solution would be a refinemnet of there MMR system and a slightly longer wait to provide better matchups. Most people would be willing to wait 5 minutes for a better match it doesnt have to be instant queue.
It’s baffling that solo and premade aren’t split up. Hotjoin should have always been integrated into a Solo q (basically, hotjoin shouldn’t exist, there should only be solo q and team q) which, with the release of leaderboards, is a now an even stronger option because it gives people with “casual” intentions something they need to care about.
This agreeably would also call of a matchmaking system refinement. The criteria for premade would have to include any size 1 < size <= 5. But it is (of course my opinion, but also) the most ideal final product I can foresee.

Hot join should’ve only been 5v5 from the start.
They didn’t help out anyone, by making it 8v8.

Definitely agree.
But if they do separate solo from premade, there would really be no purpose in keeping hotjoin in the game at all. The system would more logically transition then from solo to team as matchmaking pitted people up against each other equally, those people could potentially add each other then go on to team(revamp the reward system so that team wins give a better reward than solo wins). With leaderboards and rank, it would start to work towards helping the issue with leavers/afk players because those factors would affect leaderboard ranking, which does help to provide a feeling of meaningful progression and value, so people would have a bigger deterrent for doing things that negatively impact the game.
