It might be a good suggestion for players who are on a loss streak, yet he sticks to the idea that the system is a good one.

I dont claim that the system is necessarily a “good” one, but its no where near as broken as some people here are claiming it to be, and its WAY better than season 1s matchmaking.
I still think we should have a separate solo queue. But at least this system is way more manageable to solo queue in than last season was as long your smart about it and dont grind your face against a brick wall out of stubbornness

The matchmaking system is WAY worse than season 1. The problem with season 1 was that noobs actually could have make their way up and it was exploitable. Now the new matching is no way better. There still are noobs carried to saphire. There are decent players stuck in soloq hell. But regardless of that, the system fails by matching strong teams vs weak teams. And I refuse to waste my time in an from beginning decided game, just so the pros can advance faster. As I allready stated some time ago: Have you seen Manchester U play an official ranked match vs an amature team from some village at the start of a new season?

Last season was exploitable, this season isnt
This season has greatly reduced the amount of premades vs full solo queuers
I stand by my statement, this season is FAR superior to season 1

This season is exploitable, if you start now and pay 3 – 5 g per win to a 4player high mmr team, u are in ruby in less than 4 hours. That was not possible in s1.
Season 1 had almost only premade vs premade. Now there is at least 1 premade in every match. I stand by my Statement that u are wrong

I only play solo-q and the most I see at this point are some duo’s but even that is very rare. This is up through T3 Ruby, I can count the number of non solo player only games on one hand.

Really wish we had something like DOTABUFF so that we could call people out for their gross exaggerations around premades.

I had a loosing strike in ruby for 5 days, after that in one day I got 28 pips, and now I fear to play..one time I made a pre-made with 2 more players, the rest was soloed.

The MMR helps the better MMR-ed and pre-made players, is 100%; I was several times with 4 sapphire solo players, and the other team was 4 ruby and one sapphire, or another one when we were 4 ruby and one diamond against 3 diamond 2 ruby players.. and yes, I was the one who carried these ppl all the way… once I got to 15 pips I got better team mates, it was better.. so if you lost 2-3 times the MMR kittens you very hard, you have to be like a superhero to get out of that nightmare never ending loss.. and I have to tell you I am afraid to play again one more game to get the diamond, if I loose I will have to win 3 more times to get diamond … I am to afraid that I will end up with 4 ruby and 1 diamond, against a full diamond team, really, that’s will happen, I know it, the MMR will help the diamonds first to get to legendary, and after that will help me to get to diamond..it’s like a kitten piramid, u lost once u are at the bottom!
And don’t come to me that you can solo queue to legendary ‘cause you are a big liar! Few can, even the pros can’t only 1 out of 10..so don’t come with that I duo queued, that’s pre-made to!
This pvp is still exploited by 5 man pre-made.
So if you know good solo players team up with them, u will have a bigger chance at winning!
And the biggest problem, that the pvp player base is extremely low, in one day you play forever with/against the same team..no wonder you don’t advance..you will never advance like that!

In regards to the first bolded statement. The more matches you’ve accumulated in ranked the less volatile your MMR is. If you’ve got a significant number of matches in ranked, short loss streaks will not change your MMR to the degree you are assuming. So this statement would generally be wrong.

In regards to the second bolded statement. Again this is an assumption you and many others are making. While it is possible that the player base has gone down, it is equally likely that you may see the same players more often because the system has distributed the population based on skill better.

To be more accurate, if sapphire were to represent GW2’s average player, it is likely that 50% of the PvP population lies within sapphire. You then look at ruby representing the top 20-10%, Diamond the top 10-5%, and Legendary the top 5-1%. The higher you progress the fewer players there are, and the more likely you are to play against the same people more often. The hours you queue can also attribute to this experience of playing the same few people over and over. At the same time this should also increase the competitiveness of matches.

After this assumption, AegisFLCL.7623, I have to ask you why is better to get more strong opponents with same skill lvl in their team, against not that strong players, with same skill in their team?! Does that mean somehow that the stronger team farm them 10 times in a row, until they move on to higher divison?! You were trying to tell me that? That is your opinion?

I like that you love bold guys, it’s like a fetish of yours, AegisFLCL.7623, but I’m not bold, I have to disappoint you! MMR was reseted at the start of season 2… so if you have a winning strike, get out fast from sapphire, get ruby, and you get after that 5 days of loosing strike, were is your MMR?! Oh, you still have MMR then?! This ranked game mode now is a pip farm for elites, who are even make pre-made teams to… so how could a good solo player advance?! Watch Helseth?! That arrogant person shows what you want to see, blinds you like the media, he played some games solo, but he duo queued 50% of the time, and I even bet he 5 man pre-made many matches… there is no solo queue, only for the best players, who play several hours… so this" tournament" how Anet claims is a solo players joke, an insult..

HOW CAN BE THIS BE A TOURNAMENT, WHEN THERE IS A FULL PRE-MADE TEAM, AGAINST 5 MAN SOLO TEAM?! OH THERE IS A 2 PLAYER DUO TEAM! AND THEY CALL IT TOURNAMENT?! PHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

You know what is a tournament?! This is a “Cheating Tournament”, if you call it “tournament”. PPL asked pure solo queue, solo vs solo, ANET given us cats…

@StickerHappy

I already edited it into a previous post to avoid double posting but here you go…

- Low tier ruby vs high tier sapphire (within 15 pips)
– Second week of the season so placement is volatile and discrepancies may or may not be high in matchups still
– Why shouldn’t a full team of Ruby players beat a full team of sapphire players?
– Did any of the players on the opposing team just give up and sit in base

Sorry if this disappoints you, but the system is working as it was explained to us.

Again let me highlight this for you:

  • I know the match is ruby vs Sapphires (Pip difference) BUT THAT IS NOT THE POINT I AM MAKING The skill level of the players DO NOT REFLECT THE MMR RATING THEY HAVE Clearly, even with the division difference, if this is Equal Skill It will not be a blowout match, and this is PUG vs PUG

If you watched the last AGs, team Six got rekt by CJ’s team, but even with that, they still manage to get 250 points even if they are outclassed and Outcomped build wise

My first 55 (went 45/55 for wins) games this season were exclusively solo Q. I think I ended up somewhere in the last tier of sapphire, I cannot remember specifically. Longest win streak was 9. I’ve only had a single loss streak of 3. Some days I will occasionally go +1/-1 for 4-5 games, I then either take a break or eventually will rack up a winstreak.

I’ve duo’d since hitting ruby with my close friend and we’re now in diamond. Matches are both harder (more balanced in terms of skill) and last longer; some matches I’ve had against 5 man teams will run the timer out before either team scores high enough. The majority of my losses are to solo or duo Q enemy teams. I’ve maintained a rough w/l ratio of 75% so far. I play 5-10 games every other or every 3rd day.

I still believe the majority of people posting on the forums are stuck due to personal reasons. This system is a million times better at determining skill in correlation to rank than S1 ever had a hope to.

Okay but how is it my fault that I get paired with ppl that clearly don’t know how to play? For example, suiciding, never cap anything, refuse to listen and always run far, etc. The last game I had a team that though it was fun to suicide. But the enemy was pretty good so I wasn’t able to get kills… Is it possible that I just didn’t play enough matches to get stable matchmaking?

Were you ever in that situation? If yes what did you do to at least not lower your MMR score?

All your advice is useless, because it comes down to one point: You can put as much effort into this as you like, it only takes 1 – 2 in your party that don’t give a **** kitten – and wasted.

And people that usually give a **** usually do that (what you suggested) on their own. And then you don’t need (and often don’t) complain about match making.

The only thing you can hope for: The other team has one more idiot/person who doesn’t care than yours.

+1 to the OP

While originally it was frustrating having to get my MMR back to where it should be… I’m now finding that my teammates seem to be of the same caliber as I feel that I am and if we lose… it’s because we were outplayed or we were simply up against much better opponents.

Games the past 2 days, after working my way up to Saph 4, have been a LOT more fun.

@OP

Care to explain this?

their team had someone on it who AFK’s as soon as their team starts losing so you were fighting a 5v4 most of that match (you may not have known)

all it takes is a singular player to mess everything up

A couple of things.

First, yes a small vocal minority is having fun. That minority is into team playing and dedicating large blocks of time to GW2. However, this does not represent the vast majority of GW2 players.

Second, all this talk of the system balancing out over time is NOT panning out. At this rate, matches may level out some time next year.

Of course, by that time only the tiny minority will still be playing.

A minority (that has fun/wins) can’t play 24/7 against the majority (that suffers/loses). And I hardly see matches being really dominated by one side (the wannabe-elitist elite having fun).

If you can’t win, it’s because matches are like custom before: luck decides if you win 500/300 and if you are on that lucky side. If you look at how some (and it only needs 1 – 2/team) really fail on understanding the maps (how they work, paths, so on), it’s no surprise. Oh and luck is: Don’t get those persons in your team…
