Hey guys and gals,
In an effort to streamline how this information gets communicated, I’ve decided it would be better to start a thread so we can keep it in one place.
These are the sort of bad matches I’m looking for:

Please post the time, timezone, the map, which arena (ranked/unranked), the datacenter (NA/EU), which account you were playing on, and a brief description of why you think the game was bad.
If you don’t give me this information I won’t be able to find it.
As this is only a tracking thread I won’t be replying, and would appreciate it if we could keep discussion to a minimum. If you would like some info about the game just include that in the post and I’ll try to get back to you.

Tonight I’ve just lost 9 games in a row, did not even win once. First 6 games solo queue, last 3 queue with a buddy who took pit in my losing streak.
I started playing at around 19:30 Eastern Time, Battle of Khylo (300+ score difference, all 3 caps), then two rounds of Temple of storms (all 250+ score difference). It is like this for 9 games until now, which is 0:15 Eastern Time.
I’ve run into a guild premade team at around 23:40 in Forest of Niflhel, we only score 130 points the entire match.
The best game I’ve had out of 9 games I’ve lost tonight is 50 scores apart, that’s the one I queued with the buddy I found.
I don’t have detail on every matches I’ve played tonight, it would mostly be anecdotes.

I’ll also would like to add that it’s been a lot of matches that my team had a lot of classes stacked (no premades)… is anything under development about the class stacking? With these new dailys it is expected to find more of a certain class than others, HOWEVER having 3 thieves in the same team and having 0 thieves in the other team is definitely something I would not like to see happen very often.
I got a few for you….pay attention to the enemy team player composition in particular.
If you want some unbiased, detailed, quality data from a very active, very mediocre, and semi-intelligent player, well, I typically drink 12yr. Jameson.
I’m just kittening with you, Mr. ODell! I’ll let you know what I get in the next few days. But, the weekends are horrible for soloq. Also, I do appreciate the more (than before) effort you guys seem to be putting into pvp.
I just had a horrible losing streak. Keep getting matched with clueless people and crappy team comp. Hate this crap.
PvP really isn’t very enjoyable when you get matched with 1. clueless people, 2. team comps where you’re at clear disadvantage…I’ve attached four screenshots, each a separate matchup.
And like, honestly, these matchups don’t make sense whatsoever. It’s as if the game really couldn’t just swap one thief on our team for one engi from the other team…instead of us having two thieves and the other party having two engis.
In each of these posted matchups, I remember our team to have lost horribly – like 200:500. All of this is on NA server in ranked arena, under this account.
These occurred at various times between the last month and now – the following times are approximated from the screenshot timestamps.

I really suggest ArenaNet implement this kind of statistics and information gathering on the server instead of relying on us players to give you this kind of feedback. All of the above requested characteristics of bad matches should be able to be captured on the server side.
When a game begins, check party composition in terms of soloers and premades and PvP ranks. If any abnormalities or outliers, log state to database, alert PvP team.
When a game ends with a score differential of > 250, log state to database, alert PvP team.
I don’t suspect this kind of logic is hard to implement on the server – since presumably everyone involved in a match are in the same server instance – so the same code can be run on all instances.
If ArenaNet can’t put this kind of infrastructure in place quickly, then I really fear for the outlook of PvP in this game.

The enemy team was made of “decent” players. My team was made of players that WIPED 4v2 mid.
I kept 2 guys busy at far. An enemy Turret Engi set roots in our close. Only 2 enemy players were holding mid, and yet my team managed to score a complete wipe.
Sometimes I tryhard and carry games easily, but I need at least TWO players to rely on, with proper build and at least some game knowledge. These two times, I could easily admit were the WORST in my entire GW2 experience.

I think 500-250 is still solid matchmaking. I´d have to post every 2nd game and even in tournaments this score is quite common on maps that can be controled. Forest is a bit different since the respawn time is too low for a map where you spawn that close to nodes, you just port people around after stomping so here the matches are really messy.

Can nobody see the inherent value of soloq? I played almost 3k games pure solo and had a better experience.

Oh you beat a beat team that was 3+1+1 when you were 2+1+1+1, statistically it makes sense, from a player base, it is completely frustrating justin.
edit 2:
Based on my time of playing I have faced more 2,3,4 queues alone (this will be verified) and a solo player (myself) will be placed with other 2,3,4 queues so it is even technically right? Wrong.

Just please implement solo Q… even if both parties have similar MMR, one party will inevitably have an advantage due to familiarity or voice comm if they are premade. This is especially evident in lower MMR where some people have no clue where they’re going but the other team has a perfect 1-3-1 going on.

Justin, I know it’s not your fault and that you were given literally the worst and hardest job at ANet to make something out of this mess, but it is really mind-boggling. Neither solo queuers nor premades enjoy that.

Hey Justin, thanks again for checking what was wrong with my deviation the other day (“wrong” might not be the best word to describe it, but you get what i mean). I feel not enough people thank you for the amount of work you put checking this data for players, it really shows your dedication to making GW2 a better experience for everyone. The community often forgets how spoiled they are in terms of dev communication compared to other games, even during “dry spells”.
So yeah, you’re awesome, keep up the good work, and remember that even the people that are rude or whiny or entitled enjoy the game and what you did for them, they just suck at expressing it :P

Nope. One of my matches yesterday was against a team who ALL had Permanent Hair Stylist Contracts, and they utterly roflstomped us. I made a bald character and it’s unfair that I’m matched against players who all have bigger and more stylish hair than mine. Matchups like those just shouldn’t happen in a game that claims to be esports!

These are the sort of bad matches I’m looking for:

It saddens me that the standard bulk of the PvP community has pitted that the reason they lose is because the other team is stacked.

I think the intent of the thread was to post example of what you think was an unfair match to see if it is a ltp issue as you propose or actual matchup failure where people are grouped that should never have been. It definitely wasn’t supposed to be a debate thread, now I’m guilty too.

My last match, I’m almost 100% sure everyone was new or new to pvp. It was 500-80. Two people went home on my team. Luckily one of my teammates polity pointed out you don’t need two people capping a point.
Our thief was 1v3 at their homepoint (lol). They eventually got spawned camp until the end of the game, they didn’t even know about the other exit until the game was almost over.

Two bad games in a row, one where I crushed, one where I was crushed. Oddly enough I seem to get really long queue times during NA prime time (7-11pm EST) and bad games, but when I queue during the day it seems to be a lot better, and WAY shorter queue times. All weekend during primetime I’ve been getting 8 min queues. I think I’m a pretty average player – not super high MMR, and I usually queue with one friend.

Lost 500-169 or thereabouts. Solo vs partial premades afaik, but the other team wasn’t the issue. My entire team first ran past home, then three of them capped it together, then four of them fought Svanir. The match was pretty much over by that point, but to put the final nail in the coffin, all they did was zerg for the rest of the match, mostly off point, and didn’t seem to be taking it in the slightest bit seriously. Never had the slimmest chance. Also, this was after an 11 minute queue (maybe 2-3 seconds short of 11 min).

Lost 526-56. Seemed somewhat the result of class distribution, but that didn’t account completely for the ridiculously lopsided score. Losing team had 3 mesmers, a ranger and a necro, all glass except the necro, winning team had 2 mesmers, guardian, ranger, and thief. The other mesmers on my team were not level 80, I think they were level 60 and 44, no idea how much experience they had with the class. May have been the fastest match I’ve ever been a part of.

4:30 UCT +2, EU (so basically now). Had several bad matches in a row now on my Guardian
Just won a game 500:50 or something like that…
It was 5v5 and all players were active, so no afking or leavers. But my team (I was soloing) stomped the enemy on every capture point in just mere seconds. The enemy players kept spawn rushing 1v2 or 1v3 the points and were wasted fast.

Won 500-110. First time I’ve seen a match on this map not get to the 8:30 round of buffs. Other team triple capped their home, then two ran right past me going from home to far. They spent most of the match fighting off point after their initial wipe at mid.

Besides the usual match ups, where people leave the mesmer to cap home and deal with 2v1s and still wipe mid, this one stands out as literally the worst matchmaking ever.
Im not even ranked on the leaderboards and I get matched with the full oRNG team?

Please fix your matchmaking so I can have more fun then give up on games because people double cap.
