Unlocking things in sPvP is an awful idea.
No, pretty much everyone I’ve talked to hates the idea too.
Everyone should be on equal footing when it comes to sPvP, and not being able to use all of the skills or combinations of stats is far off of that.
yes, i do not like it.
if glory was not removed, and new PvP things to be unlocked with glory, this, i can somewhat accept.
however, skill points is a PvE WvW thing and i prefer to save my skill points for PvE WvW usage and not sPvP.
this is a very very bad method to “bridge the gap” between sPvP and PvE WvW.
josh, justin, jon etc you guys are seriously doing it very wrong.
Yep, no one wants it. Just like no one wants Skyhammer in solo queue. But do they listen?
antitoxin spray. A very worth while healing skill for the mere price of 25 skill points. If you go into PvE, you’ll see it is all the rage for healing options currently. Being only 5 skill points less than highest tier elites, this is a total worth while invest.
They are putting it in the game for a reason though right? I’m guessing some people like it? Can’t imagine why though.
Whatever currency they use, I hope that you buy both the skills, amulets, and whatever else they make unlockable from a vendor.
That way if it costs something that’s character bound like skill points, a character that’s skill point rich can buy it and unlock it for the whole account, much like the Mistwolf Elite can be unlocked for the account through gems.

It might be newbie-friendly to not have all things unlocked from the beginning; it’s easy to get scared away by the huge amount of options. But I do not think that it should require a lot to unlock something, and once you have it should probably stay unlocked on all characters. Also, skill points don’t seem like the best currency to use for this, since that would mean not unlocking something in PvE instead

Then the devs can make loadouts where players can instant get all gear and build for it. If possible, devs can let players contribute to it, instead of relying on third party sites to create builds. Devs can organize better, the organization to rune/sigil vendors makes it easier to pick and choose runes. Organizing skills will do the same.
There is already tons of options unlocked from the beginning. There is no excuse for putting unlockables except to kitten the playerbase off.

It’ disconcerting that the development team is losing faith in their original idea of having an even playing field from the get-go. Having no stat disparity and no unlocks is a massive boon to GW2 PvP and one of its major attractions. I really can’t stress this enough – there are other games that do gear grind PvP really well. If I wanted to play those games I would. Instead, I prefer the setup GW2 launched with, which is that player skill should trump over time spent gear grinding or grinding for unlocks. Introducing unlocks dilutes that idea in a way that I find very worrisome and unwelcome. Unlocks take this game in a bad direction, and I hope the devs realise what GW2’s strengths are and play to those.
Please don’t make the PvP playing field uneven between new players and veterans. There are other games out there that excel in that type of gameplay, and you don’t want to compete against them.
