Unresponsiveness
Has anyone else noticed that this game is considerably less responsive since the last patch?
I’m talking from basic abilities to using my mouse to move, which sometimes completely stops working while I’m running. Everything has an extra weight and failure to it that it didn’t before.
I thought this was just me at first, but a couple people mentioned it today while I was playing. One engineer says it’s particularly noticeable with skills like Elixir R, which require relatively quick reaction.
I am also having this issue.

For me, this is most noticeable with marks. I used to be able to drop a mark and immediately change weapons. I had the timing down perfectly. Now, the ability will usually fail to trigger or I won’t change weapons at all.
The engineer I mentioned earlier said he also has this problem when trying to use abilities quickly while changing kits. He used to be able to do it just fine. Now, it’s inconsistent.
Hmm, I noticed this too on my thief. Seems like my skills have a longer aftercast or something like that. Thought it was just me being crazy but apparently not.

I died multiple times over the weekend because Withdraw and Roll For Initiative decided they didn’t want to do anything. My client clearly knew I was using them… they just didn’t want to do anything. I’m not talking “Oh, an eviscerate hit me .2s after I hit RFI, BS!” I mean “Hey, I got hit with an immob and now I’m eating a full, un-frenzied HB’s despite slamming on Withdraw/RFI 15 times”
I’ve had Inf Strike wait 0.5-1s after being pressed to actually teleport to my target, which of course was in a middle of their dodge roll, instead of going when I actually pressed the skill and they were just standing there.
I’ve got a separate post concerning this issue (which I assume to be lag) up at the moment.

My Ping, my internet speed, possible packet loss, etc etc etc. The issue is definitively not on my end. There’s something wrong with their servers.

noticeable on all my classes. i have seen a lot of problems with invulns going off but not working also (mist form, distortion, endure pain, etc)

Exactly.
I don’t mean to spam responses with little content, but this seems to be the first post that’s gained any traction regarding the issue. This has been happening randomly literally since the patch – some days are ok, some days the issues are minor and relatively rare, and other days it’ll happen for an hour or 2 straight. For a month. I’d love for Anet to actually acknowledge this and let us know wtf is going on.

This is a really big issue for a competitive game.

Causing cancer all day.
Absolutely, yes. This has happened to me where abilities won’t fire, or I’ll be running and my character will just stop.
I find it most often when I cast an ability and go to chain the next one to it, but it won’t let me. I have to keep mashing the keys (even though the skill lights up so it KNOWS I’m pressing it.)
I knew it was something from the patch, but since I saw nobody else post it on the forums, I thought it was only me or few people.
To Allie:
You will cast a skill, and when you cast it, and try to cast a follow up spell (even though all animations are done and you are ready), you hit the key and nothing happens.
Other times, you’ll be running and go to turn, and your character just stops or locks up as if your mouse and keyboard just died.
For me, both of these things don’t happen all the time, but enough that it is frustrating.

It definitely doesn’t happen constantly, but it can easily ruin kill opportunities and cause deaths.

Hopefully this doesn’t take a century to fix like the old auto-attack bug.
No still 300MS+ delays on all abilities.

Quite often my binded dodge doesn’t work. I have to use it around 5-15 times before it starts working. This is terrible.
Almost , if not, every match i am in there is someone complaining about this or other bugs/mechanics that don’t work and then the discussion begins and noone really plays anymore hence people start complaining about soloQ leavers etc..
All boils down to.. stuff just not working…
Newest addition is the pvp lagspikes adding up to 3-4 seconds as before it was maybe 1.

It actually got me killed yesterday. I thought I dropped a fear mark to get someone off me, but it never went off.
It’s extra infuriating as a thief to hit a weaponskill…not see any response…hit the button again…then perform that action twice in a row.
I see a dev found the time to thank someone on these boards recently for their opinion, how about addressing this issue as well?

Happening to me as well, makes it harder to swap weapons and cast afterwards quickly.
There’s been a lot more lag recently as well, since last patch.

I was getting this on my Necro. It kept refusing to activate my heal when I told it to, which got me killed repeatedly. I haven’t been having this issue in PvE or WvW, though, that’s a strange thing. It’s just in PvP where it feels like I have to press everything twice to get it to fire.

Everything I say is only in reference to PvE and WvW.
I have noticed a few weird lag spikes when the rest of my Internet seemed to be acting fine, but I think that might be a fluke.
I wonder if ArenaNet is even aware of this issue.
I just log when this happens, no point in playing. Keep reporting it though, maybe Anet decided to save money on bandwidth or something thinking no one would notice…
This phenomenon has been known through the ages as “Lag”
I’ve been having non-response skills, too. Kit switching on my engineer is now utterly maddening.
I get hit during my dodges (endurance is spent in this instance) and can do 2 dodges at the exact same instant (2x endurance spent for effectively 1 dodge, unless playing a thief as you get 2x cantrips).
I also get “stuck” from time to time, unable to move my character, I originally thought it was from teleporting skills but I don’t use them atm and I’ve seen it happen to other players as well.

Sometimes if you play on big servers like Jade Quarry the skill lag from WvW will affect your pvp game as well. So if you intend on playing pvp a lot more than pve and wvw than play on the worst wvw server which right now is Anvil Rock.
I really doubt their PvE and WvW servers are attached to the PvP servers in any way.
Even if they are, I doubt it’s causing skill unresponsiveness. This just started happening last patch. The game’s servers aren’t under an extra load since last patch, as far as I can tell.
It’s not traditional lag. It’s skills just being unresponsiveness. A lot of MMOs seem to have this problem. (I still attribute much of WOW’s success to the fact it was so snappy from the start.)
I have to agree with Lopez here – this isn’t what I’d call traditional lag.
On the rare occasion, I’ve seen everyone jog in place/mindlessly run the last direction they were seen moving, but this has been the vast minority of my experience.
Most of the time, you can move correctly wherever you want to, there’s just a noticeable, game breaking delay between when you hit a skill and when it goes off.

Yeah, I’d been thinking about PvPing a bit more but this unresponsiveness ruins it for me. I’d rather stick to PvE, or switch to playing The Secret World for a while.

Yeah, I get it even in dungeons. It’s obnoxious.
Its hard to tell, but it looks like the Anniversary Tourney players don’t have to deal with this lag.
I wonder why that is. It’s not fun when the already acknowledged second class citizens (PVPers) get split between the have’s and the have nots.

While I usually deal with pings in +300ms both me and my friend noticed massive spikes. Players teleporting, both of us trying to change attunement and having it fail (like 2 seconds of pressing the button to achieve nothing). Any server it occurs on is honestly unacceptable. The odd problem here and there is understandable (nothing is perfect, after all), but the level of consistency and frequency that this occurs is frankly unnaceptable.
When I brought it up in the support forums, I was informed to report in the “suggestions” forums. When I pointed out that “having working servers” shouldn’t be a suggestion Anet really needs, i was informed that Dev’s were aware of the problems and working on it. Working on it for over a month, with no results or official acknowledgement? What is this, a startup indie company?

I’m starting to get used to having to smash some abilities a few times before they go off. That still involves an inherent delay in using my abilities, though.
I’ve noticed the issue seems to be much worse for ele and warrior. I multi-class quite a bit and I’ve noticed a lot of teleporting with warrior hammer skills and a lot of unresponsiveness with ele and switching attunements in particular.

This is a major issue for me now, seems worse than it was a few weeks ago.
I multi-class, and when I’m on my thief and try to use ports and such it often times won’t work.
It’s game-breaking at this point for me.
