Using Gates When Downed...
Definitely. The thief should be benefit the most from unfair advantages, not the guy who commands the very ground you stand on or the air that you’re breathing. I mean, what the hell is a spell caster even o.e?
Jokes aside, every class benefits differently from their downstate so you’re going to have to deal with it.
Elementalist’s mist form in downstate could even use Mesmer portals. It appears the game treats the player still “alive” during any mist form as you could interact with certain things.
I don’t mind the mist form, but the ability to travel through a gate when downed, that’s a bit too much. That makes an elementalist virtually unkillable as a defender in Stronghold matches. It shouldn’t be difficult to change. Just have a “downed” check when entering the gate.
You down the Ele, he runs off to heal up. He ran off and you’re now OOC, so you’ve just been healed up too. Get to work smashing w.e is between you and your goal. Ele comes back sooner than you expected? Down them again, only they’ve got less downstate HP to work with and really, you should’ve pulled the fight away from the door if you didn’t want them constantly running off after a hard earned kill.
I mean, eles can run off, but necros can straight instagib you from downstate. How about getting into a downed fight with a ranger or warrior? Everyone has their perks lol.
You can immobilise him before he goes into mist form so he just stands still for a good portion of the duration, although it’s not so reliable.

That little advantage almost makes up for the fact that it’s the only downed #2 skill that prevents you from being resurrected – which is a HUGE disadvantage too.

Mesmers and Thieves downstates #2 can also prevent a hard ress if used inappropriately.
In exchange it’s the best position relocation #2 skill in the game allowing you to move to a better spot to be resurrected without the thief teleport restrictions.
BTW, thief and mesmer #2 also can break channeling res no? If you teleport too far away.
Thief #2 only breaks rezzes if used in a wrong way. Mesmer #2 is random but 90% of the time it doesn’t teleport too far – most of the time you can even stomp them without porting yourself if you time it right.
Ele #2 is still the only skill that 100% of the time prevents rezzing, so it ought to have some advantage to make up for that.
What about, not pressing it when you are getting resurrected? Such a disadvantage it has :/

You have to press it to not be stomped. What the others are saying is that during those critical moments, you can still be in the middle of being rezzed by other classes during stomp preventions.

And as a thief you have to port away from the stomp, which usually puts you in breaking distance of the res attempt in the process. I don’t see the problem really.

Depending on placement, you don’t have to interrupt the res. You can port to the other side of your ally to be out of stomp range and not interrupt the heal.
So, you admit that the Elem #2 skill isn’t the only one that will cause you to break a res.

I think his point is that as a thief you can prevent stomp by porting without interrupting the ress, while on ele you will always interrupt it.
If the stomper is in the same spot as the reser, it’s likely you’ll have to break the rez to break the stomp.

I was attempting to defend door breakers at the gate. There was no pulling him away from the gate.
And yes, as a thief, downing an opponent is only half the fight. I’ve learned to not get anywhere near a downed enemy while I’m low on health….especially a necro or ranger.
