Warriors are pretty strong right now, but will be seeing changes in an upcoming patch.

We like how they can be tanky, and we like how they can do DPS if they want. We also like the CC they can bring. We just don’t like them doing it all with 1 build.

I personally think you’re an incompetent and irresponsible developer. You knew that the Warrior was going to be very strong months ago (basically you admitted to this). Yet, you and your team stood by and did nothing to avoid what we are seeing today. If I was your boss, your kitten would be out the door months ago.

Condispam engi and necro will be next in list. It feels like all condi builds need to be toned down a lot, too much damage for stacking a single stat.

Mesmer clones need to NOT apply full condis…once they do that, mesmers will be pretty balanced.

Ok, so being able to perform 3 functions well is too much. So how do you plan on implementing this? Are all classes going to be affected? There are many, many builds that currently excel at 3 things at once.

I’d loooooove to know another class that can DPS, heal, and CC like a warrior.

Besides, there are only two classes that are OP right now…. warrior and necro. Those need the changes.

Notice I said 3 functions, not necessarily those 3. There are other functions that are arguably more powerful than any one of those. Group healing, group buffing, utility, group stealth, combo fields, aoe cc, etc.

Warrior is a noob stomper. I make noobs explode. Good players beat me. Noobs explode and come to forums to complain -> Warrior nerf.

As an avid QQer in support of reviving the Ele with mechanics, rather than on the battlefield, I wonder why more people do not bring up the following valid point: In the beginning, all things were created equal. The devs made that claim. Do I need to link to 15 month old posts as proof? Am I the only one that remembers how much the devs talked about the balancing investment they made? Am I the only one that remembers how their confidence in the testing done by their paid programmers and gameplay specialists made them quickly reject player suggestions for change? They flat out told people no changes would take place for months, and reviled the thought of nerfs. They did not want that term associated with GW2. Who remembers?

Basically, all the re-balancing that the new dev commanders have done over the past year totally disrespects the work that was done before. Seriously, what does it imply when so many over-the-top changes have taken place? What does that say about their true confidence in the earlier work, or their treatment of the player base that tried to help early on. It is disheartening to think about.

I like how rangers have been attacked the 2nd most in this thread. In WvW against top level players rangers don’t stand a chance against: mesmer, engi, necro, thief and even d/d ele if played right. Spare me the tPvP ranger is op and trying to pass it off like ranger is like this in every other game mode. I’m so sick and tired of the ranger being judged based on tPvP performance as a POINT BUNKER HOLDER and deemed op as an entire class because it has ONE role in PvP.

I didn’t think warrior was OP , I just think other classes need to be brought up and destroy this condi-meta that has plagued GW2 which coincidentally was why warrior was given the buffs it got in the first place.

Having people bashing on the fact the developers “knew” that this would happen, after having Sharp explained the rationale behind that decision is quite counter-intuitive.

As Cogbyrn.7283 wrote, adjusting the meta is essentialy iterative, no one has the magic formula that will balance a dynamic system, i.e the meta, in one night.

This is what I absolutely hate about MMOs. The constant changes to classes and powers after you become comfortable with a particular style of play.

And it isn’t always something being “overpowered”. It’s like changing the size and shape of the ball in the middle of a football game.

No. Warrior has always been OP in PvE. That is fine though. The problem is that these nerfs need to apply to WvW as well. Warrior is broken there.

Why the kitten you say warrior is OP in pve ? Did you see another game where the only thing you need to stack for pve is dps ? Here all you need to do is spam dps all day long on targets that STAY STILL ,ofcourse 100 blades is OP for that .Most pve players in gw2 wouldnìt even make it to lvl 10 in another basic mmo imho.

What MMORPG would that be, I would love to play that. If you are going to be using hyperbole at least try to dress it up to hide the B.S from it.

I agree with this. I think buffs should only come to skills that are clumsy or inefficient. Even though the elementalist is currently the worst class for pvp, I would actually wish for its instant-burst damage to be toned down (which, in my opinion, should be done by adding a " damagedelay" to arcane skills, so that they wouldn’t be nerfed outside of pvp or even outside of this build). It would be interesting to see all classes have their strongest options “shaved” in the next balance patch.

BTW, when can we except the next wave of changes? In 2 weeks?

I know players love buffs but I wanted to throw my monitor out the window when I read the Oct 15 patch notes.

I know this word is thrown around a lot, but there really are some incredibly obvious changes that need to happen discussed all over these forums and pvp podcasts. There are a lot of bad suggestions too, but it’s a not impossible task to sort out the rational ones if you actually play this game. Just slight nerfs, for example, to things like the warrior healing signet passive, warrior mobility or necro condi burst would make a huge difference.

I think a lot of us are curious as to why you all are trying to “shave” things before fixing the major fundamental design issues of a lot of classes and mechanics. Seems kind of pointless and shortsighted to make all these tiny adjustments before correcting the base gameplay that affects everything else.

My Warrior is ridiculously overpowered compared to ALL other professions.
Almost the survivability of my “Bunker Guardian”, but more than double the damage.

Hint: you not spec into glass cannon in PvE – you do it wrong. Only class that can be good as non-glass in PvE is boon-duration capped guardian.

no!that would cripple every mesmerbuild. u have to trait for this to happen so no. why always attacking mesmers? in spvp we are at a good spot. the only one that will give u trouble is the pu mesmer. u dont wanna remove a core mechanic of a class, plus that would hurt the wvw mesmer a lot too and there we are not in a good spot already.

I used to remember playing aion and was mad how long changes took since we did not have direct contact with the developers. You would think it would expect it to be different now that you do have contact with them.

And what’s your point? A PvE story instance is — compared to a PvP match — a lot more objective when comparing professions.

I could also have said: My Warrior does at least the damage of my glass cannon GS + Sword/Focus Mesmer while wearing heavy armor, having better condition removal/CC breakers and 800 HP per second self healing ticking …

Why do you always make huge chunks of changes coming out at the same time and don’t make smaller changes more frequently to adress important things quickly? By doing so you always completely alter the meta and often you’ve overdone it a bit (buffing other classes while nerfing eles for example instead of just nerfing eles and see what will happen or giving Necros burning AND add torment at the same time). You could also see how certain changes affect the game and adjust further changes better to the new situation.
Things like Skyhammer-Farming, 4v5-games or bugs like Berserker-Stance or Sigil of Paralyzation are major flaws that have to be adressed immediately and can’t wait two months or even longer to be fixed. And such changes also don’t require a major pvp-patch to come out.

Yes, we’re also looking at the other classes in relation to the current iteration of the Warrior and how they vie for spaces in the meta.

If we bring down Warrior slightly, we’ll also need to adjust other things to make sure they’re also not too strong.

Also, we want to shave most things down, instead of just running around with a “buff” stick. That’s how you get a lot of power creep, and it’s something a lot of you, very astutely, have pointed out – we need to avoid that.

Keep your eyes peeled for another post later today where we expound on a lot of this type of stuff.

I agree with this. I think buffs should only come to skills that are clumsy or inefficient. Even though the elementalist is currently the worst class for pvp, I would actually wish for its instant-burst damage to be toned down (which, in my opinion, should be done by adding a " damagedelay" to arcane skills, so that they wouldn’t be nerfed outside of pvp or even outside of this build). It would be interesting to see all classes have their strongest options “shaved” in the next balance patch.

I definitely agree with this methodology but ever since pre-pax balance changes all you’ve done is overbuffed certain classes to counter some other, creating the power creep we have today… So please excuse me if i’m sceptical about it..

And to be honest i’m afraid your balancing would be much easier and better if you could release patches every other week, especially when you create something as destructive to the game as warriors state at the moment, how they’re intentionally not losing adrenaline when they miss their skills and so on. Same with spirits cooldown starting from the cast time, not when they were killed, same with sigil of paralyzation, svanir bug and so many other things. And if the explanation is that it does not depend entirely on you (balance team) to get things done and it takes literally 2-3 months to have those things changed, this game will never be esports material, or even competitive at all.
