Who can hardcounter eles 1v1 on point?
Celestial necros counter d/d eles (constant boon removal, transferring burns). Condi rangers, condi mesmers and condi engis are all capable of killing d/d eles on point, though those are hardly meta.

Pretty much. Cele necro is a pretty good counter and can stay on point. Condi mesmer got confusion and torment but may occasionally port or stealth away. Its a fact thatthe build is probably the strongest most versatile one atm.
Condi mesmer (Like any mesmer) is gonna lose the point in 1v1 and i’ve already seen many celestial necs against eles and never saw necro winning against good eles…same goes for engi or ranger…after some time ele outsustained all of them and they had to kite or die on point
Talking about an ele that can actually play his class ofc, not those guys just doing the standard skill rotation without even looking at the other guy (Considering that even playing like that is basically a free win vs pretty much 90% specs out there)
(edited by Archaon.9524)
Condi Necro can 1v1 an Ele on point and beat them. Cele Nec just stalls for long and could win but it’s really dependent on the mistakes the Ele makes.

You counter DD ele with DD ele. It’s the best solution.
Not even that, since a D/D ele can probably sustain 2 D/D eles for as long as he wants.

the used to call it…balance…
Mesmer.
I’ve never seen any other class in a tournament match that’s able to consistently down a d/d cele ele. Why do you think Abjured sends ele to Home or Far at the start of every match? Well.. besides the fact that the ele can contest the point for days.
That said, i’ve seen other classes push an Ele off point… which it technically a win o_o
but the ele comes back 7 seconds later and starts pwning again.

still while shatter mes could be able to kill him he’s gonna lose point after 4 secs…and for the time it takes to down him ele already won stalling a key tf spec into a 1v1 on a neutral point, let alone he can still disengage if things start to go the wrong way (And maybe coming back full hp 5 secs later and decap again) cause as everyone knows dd is so balanced that on top of being basically unkillable 1v1, with awesome team support it also has a enough mobility to being able to outrun anything else except for thief (Expec when running fgs)
I’d like to see an answer from anet tho…what do they think about eles right now
They nerfed rampage (And honestly it was kinda deserved even if war now totally sux)
They toned down mesmer a bit (Deserved too)
but they did nothing about the most broken crap pvp had ever seen since 1 year ago….so at this point i’d really want to know what are they planning to do about it
you know…stuff like talking with your customers, letting them know what are you doing about well knows problems, things like that..

What about a Thief? or condi Warrior?
What about a Thief? or condi Warrior?
thief is gonna do nothing, ele is gonna cap and outheal everything while thief needs to constantly disengage as soon as he gets hit by some random condispam
and war lol…let’s say that atm going 1v1 with a cele d/d while on war (Any spec) is the fastest way to suicide after jumping down on skyhammer since the only war spec that could fight a cele d/d ele was shoutbow and they nerfed it to the ground (While ele got even stronger after patch…ofc)
Hey that’s something that can win 1v1 with cele d/d…nerf it asap and buff ele
I know it sounds pretty reterded but this is exactly what they did

If you don’t think Cele Necro countes D/D Ele, you aren’t playing Cele Necro properly.
If you don’t think Cele Necro countes D/D Ele, you aren’t playing Cele Necro properly.
Or maybe the one who’s not playing properly is the ele…
In my experience with the classes I’ve played.
Celestial Signant necro.
Condition boon conversion necro.
Celestial Trap Ranger.
Hammer mace/shield warrior.
Celestial burn/bunker guardian.
Another Celestial burn Ele
Condition Shatter Mesmer with Arcane Thievery
Celestial illusionist Mesmer
Power Shatter Mesmer with the right positioning.
I honestly don’t understand why people have so much trouble with fighting D/D eles… I know when I play meta builds or thief I have some issues but I don’t enjoy meta builds unless I’m working out a way to devise a build that counters it.
….. And Elementalist.

New shoutbow can 1v1 ele, or at the very least contest the point forever.
Still, problem is you can’t ever kill them because of their kittened mobility. That’s what frustrates me the most actually.
And while being able to 1v1, you’re definitely not a hardcounter and it’s still a fairly balanced fight.

I mean if eles are THAT good, that op, I gotta wonder why we never see 5 ele teams in the tournaments as well. I mean if they really have not a single counter, they never die, get pulled off point, it’d just be counter-productive and silly not to use 5 eles. amirite?
(=‘.’=) Put him in your signature,
(“) (”) And help him conquer the world!
For rangers: Carrion traps can shove the ele off point long enough to decap/fullcap.
While a soldier engi won’t win a 1 v 1 against an ele, it can be a decent option to knock the ele off point and start a decap while holding out long enough to last until a +1 arrives from your team.
I’m killing d/d eles with warrior with greatsword.

Terrible reasoning. Just because a spec is OP 1 v X does not mean it can fulfill every roll in the game. Can an ele easily steal a beast like a mesmer or thief can? Or change the battle like engi/mesmer moa and warrior rampage can? Portals? Team stealth? Team stability?

Why do people complain about Ele if there are also a lot of people in this thread saying a bunch of build can win over Ele?
I feel like there are two classes of players: the ones who walk in and out of Ring of Fire multiple times, and the ones who don’t.
Already quit PvP. Just log in here and there to troll.

Someone a ways above me suggested powermancer…
No. If the ele is worth much of anything, he’ll win that 1v1. Cele/sig necro is a different story, but don’t try to play nukemancer like it’s a serious 1v1 build vs the tankier meta builds.
I’m not saying powermancer can’t win 1v1s, but it mostly exists to blast a few unsuspecting, unfortunate cap zone huggers.
Team stability?

You won’t win at the beginning of the match you need a decent amount LF first AKA an ideal scenario and he could just get away while a mesmer reminds you of your weakness. The same with bunker guard you won’t kill him fast enough to justify a 1v1.

everyone already plays with double ele (And it’s the only double class in every single team)…let’s say you can’t play 5 mainly because you also need dps and cele ele is condi lol
5 ppl with same spec would never be viable cause you only have one source of damage and mitigating it you mitigate the whole team…

In an honest duel, this will probably not work for the majority of people (I play nuts, this build lets me win duels). http://intothemists.com/calc/?build=V_70;2V2lq0l6k0-x0;9;4ilm;0236148056;4LB0;3NV05NV055n
However, if you are running to a point with the ele already on it you just can drop EVERYTHING and they will horribly.
But, if you do not feel comfortable and would like a means of getting the jump when jumped (ele comes to your point) grab Elixir S. Grants stealth, immunity, works with traits in alchemy.
Hi Archaon,
Warriors do well vs eles, both pre and post patch. Signet necro counters ele but an aware ele would simply go back and forth on the point and never let the necro down them.
For certain, warriors do well against eles.

well…actually there is still no viable hardcounter to 1v1 eles on points, something MAY work but there’s nothing that is even close to be a good 1v1
but i just guess you play ele so i understand your need to prove that it actually takes skill to win…fair enough, at least you tried

Hard counter? That’s going way too far imo. They aren’t in a small closed space. The ele has great mobility and can disengage and reengage endlessly unless something goes really wrong. The necro can’t do that.
Hard counter to me means the necro would totally shut down the ele which isn’t accurate. But yes I’d say it’s a soft counter for boon-reliant specs in general. In a vacuum I think the necro would win most/all duels but conquest is so much more than dueling.

I can’t speak for rom and kervv because they belong to the tournament tier. The gameplay there is beyond my ability so I never compare my capabilities to theirs. Only queue unranked when trying out a build but I usually play solo, 2 or 3 man pre on ranked.

It’s why they’re not much of a candidate. The winner is still Mesmers but that’s not saying much, considering Mesmers have aleays naturally perform better in regards to 1v1 fights, even prepatch.

It works just fine against most meta builds. If it gets into a 1v1 with CDs versus Mesmer or Thief, then it’ll probably lose very quickly if it has little to no life force. Then again, that’s a disadvantageous scenario for any spec of any class.

Condi rangers and condi engis can hardly sustain a 1v1 vs an elementalist, let alone hardcountering them on point. Condis in general CAN kill an elementalist, but I definately wouldn’t call these 2 classes “hardcounters of D/D ele”.
