Because warriors are OP, nerf nerf wai cry etc etc
Because Spiritwatch is a stupid map that’s completely broken mechanic wise.
Necro/thief Run signets. raise speed to normal runspeed.
Ranger/Warrior can Run the orb way too efficiently.
Guardian can sanctuary/block pickup the orb 99% of the time.
Spirit watch is literally worse then skyhammer in my eyes..
Spirit Watch and Skyhammer are definatly the worst map for competive play.

Because they are Warriors. Normal rules don’t apply to them.
But it’s their superior skill that makes it so, let no one else tell you otherwise.
Oh such a silly question, we players all know that all ANet employees only play Warriors. Logging on other characters are just part of their job to make it seem like they play something else but seriously when have you seen an ANET employee play a non-warrior class without sitting in town afking or trolling WvW?

This, obviously, isn’t entirely true, but of the ANet employees I have seen, to my best recollection, the majority of them were playing warriors. I remember seeing one that was an ele in WvW, next to his/her warrior friend (no apparent reason they came to ET, the best worst server in NA, especially with our population problems… We told them all about our pop problems and they basically just disappeared into oblivion).
funny fact, if i use inf. arrow on my thief with orb, i lose orb… warrior can use GS spells and zoom across the map w/o losing orb….
not to mention, some classes can run really fast with orb w/o run speed punishment, while other classes get shafted

I dont know..Why sword 2 covers so much distance with orb (and for the matter too long distance in general for the tooltip) ???
Maybe the same reasons why ride the lightning got a range reduction,double the cd and..an extra 40% range reduction while carrying the orb?

Actually i cant get it for the life of me.How the kitten can they destroy a class so much like they did with ele.Why would you reduce rtl in spirit watch if you gonna put 40 sec cd and dont touch other classes skills? How was even ele carrier a problem if you know THAT BY THE NEXT BIG PATCH THERE WOULD BE NO ELE BUNKER?

Illusionary Leap is what the clone does and you are using Swap which is a teleport.

L2difference between teleport skills and movement skills. Warrior skills are affected by slow effects (never noticed 1/2 travel distance on sword leap and gs rush/WW? Oh, I forgot, you never actually played a warrior) and cannot carry you out of immobilize (without picking traits specially for that), thief SB is literally “lel I can mash this button and port across all map”.

did you try to use heartseeker while carrying orb? but yeah you wouldn’t know because lel you never played thief… see i can say such crap as well
fun fact, i do have a warrior and it is probably the most brainless thing i got to play in this game so far outside of necro scepter AA with spite tree
my point is that i am fine with thieves not being able to port, but so warriors shouldn’t be able to zoom across the map as well as other classes
also wars can use their utilities that prevent dmg and CC, but thief can’t use stealth… certanly stealth would be just too good, but classes shouldn’t be able to go immune to dmg
imo the orb should put any class to same run speed, disable all spells and give unique ones

This is good to know. I will start using the warrior for spirit watch instead of my runner ele. Thanks op for expanding my pvp gaming horizons.
for those who dun already know,
warrior’s sprint does makes the orb holder run a bit faster.
use that together with long sword 2 with auto targeting turned off to cover long distances faster, plus warhorn 5 for +100% vigor for more dodges.
usually long sword 2 + warhorn 5 is sufficient enough.

Until the developers finally admit that the orb should replace all player abilities with unique orb-only abilities, Spirit Watch will be unsuitable for competitive play.
The problem with this is that then classes will be chosen as orb carriers for their base stats or class mechanics (or potentially utilities, if they were accessible). This would actually compound the problem, rather than alleviate it, as warriors/guards/necros would be far and away the best choices to run the orb. Would you want to be yelled at every time you picked up the orb on your ranger?

Lets not forget the Engineer whose 25% running trait also works and using Slick Shoes’ Super-speed also lets them zoom.

Actually, when SW was out, ele movement skills was absolutely gamebreaking for this map. You can search old topics and read it by yourself. It was fixed later by various mechanic tweaks.

Try it some time.
Or log a warrior and have 20k hp, 25% movement speed, highest armor in the game, invulnerability, immunity, block, bull’s charge, sword and gs movement skills.
Edit: and forgot stability.
I have a special build for whenever spirit watch pops up in solo queue,
sometimes I cap the orb with the whole other team attacking me, cuz kitten balance.

U don t even have to use gs, shield leap and block plus hammer leaps while knocking everyone down works fine aswell
One of the main problems is that Capture the Flag is a gametype that’s really best when it’s done on a reasonably sized map without too many extra objectives. This way there is a sincere focus on the flag carrier as well as enough space for enemies to have a chance at getting a flag carrier with their cooldowns gone. When it’s a tiny trek like in Spiritwatch, a carrier can just blow all their cooldowns to cover the majority of the terrain.

It’s about having control. You don’t like when maps are complicated? it’s these maps like spirit watch and skyhammer which makes the SPvP fun. At least for Arena and more experienced players that know what they are doing.
Warriors should drop the orb when they activate all their defensive stances at the same time.

I was being sarcastic, I remember when Eles dominated that map. But then I also remember Anet’s severe nerfing of RTL, both on spirit watch and in general. It seems strange that they’d be so ready to cut the range of rtl in half on spirit watch but allow rangers, warriors, and thieves better mobility with the orb and guardians and warriors near invulnerability when carrying the orb.
I was pointing out that many of their ele nerfs were incredibly near-sighted, especially when considering the massive power creep that has plagued this game since. The current state of the ele certainly speaks volumes on that near-sightedness.
