You are the useless log of flesh we have to drag behind us as we move forward.

Unlike before(mmr-based leaderboard), I can actually feel the difference in the quality of matches the higher you go up in the leaderboard. (I’m talking about solo queue) Both your teamates and enemies know what they are doing. Meanwhile today, I don’t understand how they do matchmaking! I always keep getting team mates fresh out of character creation, 4v5s, afkers(yes even when we were winning). The only hope you have of winning is that the enemy team’s noob is worse than your team’s noob. Most noobs run turret engi nowadays which makes it kittening worse! Every match, there’s an average of 3-6 turret engis! Don’t tell me to l2p against them with my bad pug team. I dont mind facing turret engies as long as I have a DECENT pug as well! And don’t tell me go find a team because I don’t always have a team and have to queue solo.

Raise your MMR is the only thing I can suggest.
For me matches are better when i play during primetime.
Maybe give this a try.
Otherwise try to team up with some guys you know.

As I’ve told you, when leaderboard was still mmr-based, I didn’t have these issues. It’s only now that this happens. Did they also reset mmr now? And I was sitting at 60% winrate, if that matters. Now it’s down to 55%.

yeah I duo/trio queue with my trusted friends when they’re around.
Before I came back to PvP, I have a habit of playing a few unrank matches before going into rank.
Tried that out again today, against my better judgement. Right at the start of the match, we’re behind by a mere 40 points – one teammate shrugs off and says, “Ok we lost.” Then sat near spawn for the duration of the match.
Riiiiight…..back to rank queue and partying up with trustworthy guildies/friends.

Thing is, I actually get better matches in unranked than in ranked. In unranked, I rarely meet noobs and most are leg champs. It’s only in ranked that this issue arises.

Really? How odd, it’s the opposite for me. I have better luck in rank than unrank.
…Do unrank and rank run on separate MMR?

That, I’m not sure of.

Unfortunately, that’s not always better. There is a weird trend of “Champion Genius” and “Legendary Champion” turret engineers. My MMR might have gone down (but I doubt it having above 60% win rate), but since the test season began I see them everywhere! The problem is that it’s the perfect LB build: even when you loose, you score 200 points for your team, since you were left alone on a point. So when I’m expected to win 500-0, I can’t because the best strategy is to let them have 200 points.

Ikr, it’s so frustrating! I’ve had my fair share(got champion genius) of playing as turret engi before and I got so bored with it(so braindead easy but so frustrating against organized teams cause you can’t really rotate). I don’t wanna play as one anymore. But sadly, turret engi is the best way to go currently. Turret engi is NOT fun to play, and NOT fun to play against!

Yes.
Have posted in many of these kind of threads… so here goes an other one – as we should protest as long as this terrible matchmaking is finally changed!
Without getting into details of the matchmaking algorythm the problem occurs like this:
The total noob/casual/braindead (or for whatever reason incompetent) players make up probably at least 60% of the pvp community. And what matchmaking does is using them as fillers to get full teams for higher ranked players faster. Which does good for the waiting times but at the same time turns matchmaking into gambling (who gets less incompetetnt players). So I think that the priority should be finding equally skilled players to form two competitive teams. For everyone on their own level.
It frustrates everyone:
High or mid ranked players either rip their hair out in anger or slaughter a helpless team. No real feeling of accomplishment even when winning.
Low ranked players dont really get a chance to turn the course of the game unless they are lucky enough to face the noob(s) of the other team. But if they dont, the sensitive ragequit, but even the motivated feel frustration having to fight players way beyond their skill level.
And I could go on… this is simply not working. And matchmaking being a gamble – one can run into really nasty losing streaks if the RNG gods dont favor him.
WAY TOO MANY FACTORS OF ENJOYMENT OUTSIDE OF PLAYER CONTROL! If something sucks, its not that bad. But if it sucks and CANT be changed, well then… it sucks, big time!
Keep the QQ up, to keep Anet’s attention on this issue.
There needs to be a button. One single button on the “currently queued” screen. And it needs to say “match me now”. And unless you hit that button, the game needs to sit and WAIT until it finds you a match that is actually decent. Anyone who hits that button, use the existing terrible shoehorn strategy. For people who hit a streak of five terrible matches, they can wait in queue for 15 minutes rather than spend that 15 minutes getting their kittens kicked.
This has been here too for a long time. mainly because ANET only gives priority to team matchups. if your soloq’er you don’t stand a chance. Unfortunately, GW2 cannot be compared to matchmaking being done by other games such as LOL & WOW. sad to say they might have to employ one of their programmers to straighten up this mess.

I know I am necro’ing an old post but I was really trying to figure out wth is going on with matchmaking. As someone coming from LOL I expected rank play to be pretty bad my first few games but after 50 games I am still always in a blowout. Either kicking in someone’s teeth or getting my brains stomped out. I think I can count the “good games” on one hand. Basically I am flipping on coin to see if I’m going to win or lose by a mile. This isn’t matchmaking at all unless the algo says “make MMR of team Y = 5 * MMR of team X”. It is painfully obvious there’s absolutely no attempt by anet to make teams balanced.
