Class: thief
1. engis (any kind), they just make me want to uninstall this game every single match :/
2. necros
3. zerker guardians (yeah, i know lol, but ironically good zerker guardian will drop my thief w/o breaking sweat :/)
tbh, unless i play perfectly or enemy makes a lot of mistakes pretty much every class is big trouble… dueling thieves are not great for team fights and team thief build is not so great for dueling so go figure.. kind of similar to bunker guardians that probably won’t kill anyone 1v1 but are great for team pvp

@Cynz what build are you running ? i am under the impression that you could improve your 1v1 experience by tweaking your setup a bit.
btw Class: condi necro.
1. s/p thieves
2. zerker warriors
3. s/d eles
Oddly enough s/d thieves aren’t as problematic as they used to be now that infiltrator strike is not a free out of the jail card anymore, s/p thieves on the other hand can easily wear you down before you start having your impact on the teamfight.
Zerker warriors can be quite troublesome during teamfights with many particle effects going on because if you don’t notice their earthshaker you often have an hard time recovering from it, second place because a good guardian in your team can help mitigate this. Also, berserker stance.
Eles are ranked third because their burst can get a necro off guard and with scepter (obsidian flesh) if you get downed you will also get stomped.
Class: MM Necro
Worst Enemy:

2. AoE spam engis
3. Other MM necros/ Spirit Rangers
Class: Thief
1. Tanky condition engineer
2. S/S Longbow Condi tank warrior

Class : teef
1) one shot eles
2) condi engi

No matter what profession I play, being it an Elementalist, Warrior, Thief, Ranger or Guardian the only class that will always beat me regardless of skill is Necromancer.
Zaphiel Faires – DPS Guardian
Class:Power necro
1)Good thieves (bad ones are easy)
2)Good Mesmer (bad ones are easy)

3. OP Mesmers that think they’re (good)
Class: Elementalist

Class : teef
1) one shot eles
2) condi engi
3) necrosEles shouldn’t be on your list as thief… dodge burst they unload and you win lol
Yea, I’m surprised to see that up there too. Bunker eles can be tough for a lot of thief builds, but generally the glassy eles are some of my favorite targets.
Also, I have a feeling that if trap ranger ever made a strong comeback into the meta, they’d be at the top of a lot of thief’s lists.

This doesn’t mean that I win all the time. I certainly don’t. It means that it doesn’t matter what class attacks me, because the majority all attack the same way (as if they are fighting the test golems in HotM). They only think about what their class does and not what mine does. They seem genuinely shocked when I fight back.
I’ve seen thieves attack an mm necro like it was a glass cannon mesmer. Warriors trying to stun lock mesmers. Berserker guardians standing still trying to unload their skills on a warrior. I flatten these players in seconds regardless of what class they play.
When I do face someone who considers what my class does, the battle becomes interesting. Sure I may lose, but I have a lot more fun. Even the much feared mm necros aren’t a challenge if you know what you are up against. Certainly there are some classes that are more difficult than others depending on what I am playing, but I’ve found nothing unbeatable.
Don’t expect to kill every class as if they were test golems. Too many complaint threads are about classes people believe that they should beat. That’s not how it works.

Kinda my attitude..don’t play the profession you’re facing, play the weapon they are using. Ignore what warrior’s can do and instead focus on what you expect hammer to do. Ignore what thieve’s can do..instead be concerned with what their dagger/sword can do.
DaShi and CntrlAltDefeat that’s all fun and dandy until you are a D/P thief trying to get that tanky condi engi of your point with no one to help.
Thats how I based my list. On my actual playing, I won’t bother to 1v1 matchups I cannot win and I will keep doing my job which is to roam and creating outnumbered situations.
Class: S/D Thief
Nemesis
- Spirit Ranger – Getting one down is hard enough and then they just self-rezz. WTF?
- Bunker Engineer – Just won’t die and still kills you in 30 seconds by spaming skills.
- Minion Master Necromancers – Normal Necros are hard enough, but Minion Masters…omg.

I would agree with you, but I can’t.
GW2 classes simply don’t have the tool-set to adapt their play-style.
A S/D Thief for example is good at one thing. Spaming dodges while pressuring the target. That doesn’t change in any case. He’s going to fight a Mesmer the same way he’d fight a Necro or a Warrior….because that’s all the class is good at.
Sure you might look to avoid specific moves but the general play-style doesn’t change. And the same applies to every build. A Warrior will cycle through his attacks the same way against a Mesmer as he would against an Engineer. Because if cooldowns are your only limitation then there’s no reason not to use it.
Again you might aim for specific abilities, but again the general play-style doesn’t change.
And this is why I laugh whenever people think GW2 has remotely skillful class combat. What it has is a number of 2-3 trick ponies running around trying to see which trick can counter the other’s.
Class: Med Guard (and sometimes condi guard, what can I say, I must be a masochist)
Hate List:
1: Bomb Bunker Nade Condi Cheese rolled in cheese stuffed with cheese placed in a cheese wrapper and slapped between two cheese buns engi. God I hate them.
2: Minions. Oh yeah, and I suppose the necro they brought along with them.
3: Mesmers. I don’t even care what kind. They are not just annoying, they were designed to be annoying.
Class : teef
1) one shot eles
2) condi engi

I know most eles are dumb and easy, but one day I encountered a wild ele who killed me in 0.5 sec.
So that’s why I put “one shot eles” not eles.
I repeat, I didn’t even see what thing killed me, it was like I was running to decap far I see the ele coming (1200 range aprox) I avoid him(worst decision of my life) then I’m dead.
The good thing it’s I know how to deal with them now.
Yes, some Eles like to exploit their Fire Greatsword for instant-gibbing players and Trebuchets.
I’ve encountered one of them too. What tehy do is use Sword 4 and then reverse teleport so that all the fire-trail is in one spot. That deals something like 20.000 DPS and can kill any Thief and even a Trebuchet in a second.
Class: Warrior
1. MM Necros (Belongs strictly in PVE)
2. Bunker Gaurdians
3. OP Mesmers that think they’re (good)
Decent ish warriors can beat necros and I’d hope that the top 5% at least can beat any mesmer. Because let’s be real here, mesmers are literally just pve fights, all of their damage comes from ai movement.

2) S/P Thief
3) PU Mesmer (Not hard, just a PITA beyond bunker v. bunker)
Lockdown mesmer:
1) S/P Thief
2) Bunker engie
3) Warrior (dat stability)
Shatter mesmer:
1) S/P thief
2) bunker anything
3) PU mesmer
Phantasm mesmer:
1) Any thief build
2) bunker engie
3) minion builds (dem meatshields)
Class: Mesmer (PU/Condi – sorry guys I have fun with that spec…)
1) Engineers
2) Thief
3) Necro
And there is always the occasional ‘special’ player that annihilates you with a class you almost always win against (still traumatized by a ranger I met in hotjoin 2 weeks ago…)
Class: Elementalist (arcane s/d bursting)
Anything that moves and has eyes.

This spec after Dec 10 is actually really good in comb with the new healing skill, thats the one i use too
That deals something like 20.000 DPS and can kill any Thief in a second.
yes, given that they’re afk or braindead

Yeah? Then instead of using S/D Thief as your example please try again with D/P. D/P changes it’s playstyle according to the encounter and that’s is why its interesting enough for me to keep playing it.
@Lachanche: i play caed’s build basically, dueling thieves don’t contribute as much to team pvp

What I’ve learned from this thread:

Brb. Rolling engie.
