You know something is OP when...
the problem is just they deal way too much damage for what is basicly a full bunker.
nearly 30k hp, 3k armor and enough damage to kill a zerker in under 30 seconds.
Was fun seeing Chaith solidly outplay this trash turret engy for 1,5 minutes on stream and still dying to the #Esports rocket.
Yes, he knew that running away was the better option but he was going to show how broken turret engy actually is and how much skill you need to play it.

Agreed completely.
I’m certain they did this because of the removal of underwater combat in sPvP.

Spirit/burn Guard – Go head to head with one and die. Are they killable? Yes.
Condi ranger/spirit ranger/power – Go head to head with one and die. Are they killable? Yes.
Condi Engi – Go head to head with one and die. Are they killable? Yes.
Turret Engis – Go head to head with one and die. Are they killable? Yes.
These classes have the following in common.
1. They have the build potential to kill multiple foes at once.
2. They’re all point-assaulters; defending home or roaming to far.
3. They’ve all gotten nerf threads.
Turret engi’s have many weaknesses. The issue is, alot of people attack them 1v1 when that’s their best area. It’s not that they do good aoe damage, because they all do. It’s the fact they’re easy to use, incredibly annoying, and very useful on point due to their CC abilities. Anyone can use it and do well. That’s why people are so annoyed. The players who can’t outsmart them are the ones who think they’re overpowered.
They are limited in the amateur tournament in order to promote build diversity. The tournament is made to promote creative play, preparing your team to potentially be contenders in ESL type tournaments.
I personally think class stacking, including turret engi’s, should be allowed. Because they are common in real world Tournament play.

I tried to line of sight after a turret engi used overcharge and the #esports_rocket curved around the tree. Technology is a truly wondrous thing.

And what did he play with agains that turret engi?
his casual build, static discharge zerker.

While everything you stated might be true, the problem is turret engies deal way too much damage while being the tankiest bunker build you could possibly create.
Not even 2k armor, ~19k hp, 1 stun break, 0 stability, and most punishing build for single little mistake or opponent’s “lucky” dodge.
10/10 should win no prob.

Turret engi’s are only really OP against bad team play.
Turret engi’s are only really OP against bad team play.
And that is why 2 of this class got banned. The tournament is focused on amateurs and people that may not have the best teamplay. Also focuses on unknowns that want to get on a team, to have their shot. Can’t expect amateur teams to want to play if they know they have no chance at winning. That is why there are not many teams in the Go4 cup. What build murders amateurs? Turret engi’s. That is why it is banned from the amateur tournament. Also banned is any player deemed too advanced. This basically means that if The Abjured don’t play Sunday, so technically they won nothing, they still can’t play in the tournament. Tournament excludes top teams in the past 2 tournaments but also anyone or any team deemed to be more advanced than the audience they are trying to bring in.

I am not sure you understand what a bunker build means.
I do, but I am not sure you do. Bunker guard is a prime example of a balanced bunker build, not to be confused with the Bruiser builds like cele warrior or d/d cele ele.
Right now they are tankier then a bunker guard while doing more damage then Bruisers. I tried to build myself to find its weaknesses and it actually has alot if you go triple turret but i can literally switch my brain off and do amazing damage, even to bruisers, not even using my dodges and still survive pretty ok, even when outnumbered.
I have also ran into turret engies who are not trash and its just funny watching them 3/4vs1 for several minutes often killing one of two of the assaulters too.
Glad i can still do pretty well versus them now but it just feels so wrong that i need to outplay my opponent for several minutes while my opponent just overcharges on cd and randomly use their dodges/rifle skills.

Comparing d/d Cele ele to Turret Engi is laughable.
Ele goes far to meet turret engi. They fight until engi pops all his turrets and/or even Crate. Ele peels off and gets to mid in about 7s. Less if he uses his Sword elite.
Engi is now naked until his turrets are up. If he goes to mid he’ll likely die unless he auto attacks from the ledge.. which won’t do a single thing.
The same can be said with a Bunker. Even the very slow Bunk Guardian can leave while the Turret Engi has his Rifle, Net and Rocket turrets on CD. His Crate wouldn’t matter much depending on the other team. Regardless, they will out rotate that turret engi so hard it wouldn’t be funny.

Mentioned Cele ele because i wanted to highlight what the term bruiser means.
ofc everyone knows how great a well played d/d ele can be and a huge asset to its team, no one is gonna deny that, thats why i dindt actually compare the two, just mentioned what falls under ‘Bruiser’
A tournament has to specifically ban the use of more than 1 turret engi in 1 team. Hurry up and nerf this mindless build.
Perhaps this is a prelude to the removal of stacking any profession on a team.
Which tournament is doing this?
Which tournament is doing this?
AG weekly disallowed any stacking of turret engineers. One turret engi per team.
I think the build is mindless, easy and has no purpose in flipping pvp.
I can usually get a turret engi with either condi necro or condi Mesmer. It does take a while.
Again people think they are smart by bringing up “counters” for a bot build. You can say well, rotate better. Question is why does the other player have to be on top of their game while turret engis can either switch off their brain the whole match and still do well or run a bot program and still do well?
Another question is why does such a build even exist in a competitive environment?.. or let me guess is gw2 pvp not competitive at all?.. it could explain why so many people think gw2 “esports” is a laughing joke.
No, I just honestly don’t feel turret engi is OP. They have no real range and often are weak to conditions. The engi has only limited control over the turrets and the turrets in turn have quite limited range.
I don’t agree that turret engis are a problem.
^ Did you even try the build?
No real range → False, same range as many other ranged weapons.
Weak to condi’s → False, maybe if you got condi bombed 4 times in a row, you have 28k hp and can use heal turret like 3 times before you die.
Limited Control → False, turrets have active skills and can be blown up for knockback spam.
Turrets have limited range → False, they have the same range as a LB Ranger with Eagle Eye.
This is so appropriate: E-sports rocket turret:
Note how it changes trajectory and keeps following the player even after dodging/moving out of the way. No other projectile does this. That thing can’t miss.
AI based builds should have long since be Nerfed. What would make it fair is if you actually had to control your AI by telling them to attack every few seconds.
In detail every say 5 seconds. you would have to select your turret’s target and tell it to attack. same with phants or pets.
Unfortunately, the devs are focused more on their pve world than flashy 1 vs 1 skill based combat which is ok. The pve is beautiful even if its not entertaining.

Yes, that is how it supposed to be done, like other games with AI spawn.
Unfortunately this is the reality:
- Phantasms/Clones only attack the target they are summoned on. And stand there looking pretty when they lose target (like hide).
- Minions sometimes refuse to attack at all….
- And Turrets attack anyone automatically within its range proximity.

I don’t care what build they use, engineers are absolutely weak to conditions, your conclusion is what is false in that case. To me, turrets are so easily destroyed when I encourage term them, that I am baffled as to why so many players complain about them. I tried playing a turret build for a while myself, to see the best ways to counter one. Since then I have had little trouble against them on any of the multiple professions I play.

yet someone posted on the forum AI build needs skill i Loled
clearly you dindt played the right build then with sentinel & melandru and the correct traits, because no mather what i face i could always get heal turret off 2 to 3 times and let condi bombs run their full duration, only dropping me to 40% hp while fighting outnumbered fights. 28k hp is pretty amazing.
still doesnt change the fact you posted 4 false statements in two sentances lol
Yes I have and do occasionally play turret engi. Players on this build are a favorite target for me when playing condi necro or condi mesmer.
Typical battle flow: fear the engi —> engi is traited to get boons on hit —> corrupt boon —> Signet of Spite —> dead engi.
I really think you’re barking up the wrong tree.
