we know a big balance is coming on the 28th but again a lot of ppl are mad that we have no idea what the balance will be.

My opinion and i stated it before is players should be allowed to know whats coming so we dont get mesmers running around with 25 stacks of might all game and a patch for the update takes so long to roll out it ruins the game for a week or 2.

i know there is a big PR problem and you dont want to tell us because of sudden changes or changes not being made but im sure if you put in final patch notes “any of these changes stated are not final and subject to change” then noone can be mad.

a heads up on what you guys are doing helps keep us in the loop so we can make team changes in advance. this is one of the things the community means by keep talking to us.

my hope for this balance update is

warriors do less damage but get more survive ability

ele down state doesnt refill life

ele cant have constant might/fury (they took it from mes why they leave it on ele)

ele heals are worked on

mes portal is added to all classes

a 1v1 elite is added to mes or moa is put back to normal so were not forced to use time warp. (or take time warp out give us the warriors all buffs elite or the ele heal urself elite or entangle or plauge form, or crate drop) i dont mind losing timewarp i would take any other classes elite to this one anyway.

ranger fix with the skill that takes every condi off them every 10 seconds.

thief macro capability. give them a GCD like with mesmers

fix guard 15 vuln exploit.

fix every other ability that isnt working as intended

fix every other bug / exploit that ppl mentioned

so as you can see im not to big on nerfing stuff i just want everything working as intended so we can see how balanced the game really is. i hope anet dont do dumb nerfs and make some classes not viable.

where did they say the balance patch was 28th? All i have seen is they are looking at bunker/aoe with no ETA mentioned. They said they were looking at bunkers during the first pvp SOTG stream as well and havent touched them.

they wont be popping all day. without matchmaking lower tier teams will inevitably face elite teams with the randomness and be forced to farm tickets or just give up.

There is a patch on the 28th. There may be balance changes within, there may not be. Anything they have talked about may or may not be in there as well. There is no certainty.

It seems as you’ve got 0 knowledge of the ele profession in general.
I can link my build and you show me where you can find perma might/fury and huge heals, because only eles who run 2xwater rune,2x monk and 2x sanctuary can obtain this “perma” might/fury you mention and only eles who use cleric amulet can have “huge” heals as they have over 1.2k pts in healing power.

The ele capability of self-healing got nothing to do with the rune stacking exploit, and to ask to nerf the healing aspect of the ele is the same as to nerf the clones of mesmers, without heals and boons the ele would have nothing to compensate for the worst base stats in the game.

You say to be a great player, it’s basically impossible for an experienced player to lose to newb ele, it’s impossible because I can beat a newb ele under 5s , I see newb eles get destroyed 24/7 in sPvP and tournaments, they don’t even last 10s in the best cases, if you got beaten by an ele it’s simply because he was better than you period

I think first they need to fix the pathfinding issues with warrior movement skills and bring up the other weapons, because really only the gs and greathammer have good weapon skills. Then they can look at buffing the warriors traits and utilities and stuff.

You’re extremely mad and hateful toward eles, lol, never seen anything like that in 7s years of MMO, you’re obsessed by eles like they own you money or something but your level of obsession is extrardinary, every day you repeat the same thing over and over without getting tired :" nerf ele QQ", but the question is what you can ever hope to achieve with your little crusade, you can never hope to beat a good ele, this profession is the epitome of skill in this game, a great ele is and will remain your worst nightmare to face as opponent, any weapon set will do.

Other weapon sets like staff and s/f have been nerfed in the past because of QQ…and still a good ele will beat you 100 times using those 2 weapon sets, an ele will always be able to counter the 3 buttons smashers out there…that’s how it is, how it supposed to be..and how always will be period

please dont take away my hopes. there should always be 10 ppl ready for real competition at any given time of day IMO. if paids dont pop all day when u only need 2 teams then that is when i will give up on the game. (i dont see it possible, so i will not be giving up on the game)

We have some very good eles in our guild, and i think the class is great. What im annoyed at is how many ppl on the forums spend the majority of there time qquing about mesmers/thiefs. without seeing that eles are the real titans right now.

Not that portal/timewarp dont need a look. I dont hate ele’s, im frustrated that so many people dont understand how strong this class is.

I am annoyed by people asking for nerfs on a profession because a handful of them run with a build based on exploits, if you’ve got problems with bunker eles that’s fine as most of us have already given suggestions on how to fix them without breaking the entire profession.

So why people ask to nerf the entire profession, including also people who have never used a cleric amulet, the 0/10/0/30/30 build, and thethe 2xmonk-2xsanctuary-2xwater runes set up?

Ok, if some bug, or ability not working right, is whats causing them to be so strong, and fixing that would fix the issues with the class them im all for that.

Its still a nerf, fixing something that is working stronger than intended amounts to a nerf via bug fix. I dont want eles to become useless i want them to become balanced. Heck if you read me posting on other threads you will always see me advising that any proposed adjustements shoudl be very small so the class remains completley viable.

i dont see how rune stacking is an exploit. its an obvious intended feature of the game or they wouldnt have rune level specific bonuses.

To ask for a fix on something broken is legit, to ask to change something which would affect the entire profession is wrong, good to see that you recognize it, the majority of people can’t, therefore any kind of discussion with them is pointless

Wont be back to play until:
1. At least 1 more fun to play game mod is introduced,
2.Mesmer and thief are stripped of annoying mechanics completely ( portal, clone spam, moa,stealth should be on 20 sec cd etc),
3.Target nearest enemy player and deserter debuff features are introduced,
4.PvP matchmaking and meaningful pvp progression are in place,
5.Entry fee is removed as requirement for any segment of pvp
6.PvP gets same treatment as pve part of the game ( pvp events, competitions with unique rewards for winners etc).

Bug fixes

Less survivability on glass eles and less dmg on bunker eles, like every other glass\bunker spec. Dmg or survivability..a glass thief dies from every single burst from everyone or just standing for 2 secs on an aoe (Yes because actually going stealth doesn’t prevent from being anihilated by uber aoe dmg all around you if you’re running glass..it’s not like…let’s say…mist form) and a full bunker guardian can’t really kill kitten with that mace\hammer ‘n stuff if he’s facing someone just a little better than totally brain-dead.

I have a feeling that you are just afraid of not being op anymore and having to actually work to win.

warriors do less damage but get more survive ability

mes portal is added to all classes

a 1v1 elite is added to mes or moa is put back to normal so were not forced to use time warp. (or take time warp out give us the warriors all buffs elite or the ele heal urself elite or entangle or plauge form, or crate drop) i dont mind losing timewarp i would take any other classes elite to this one anyway.

ranger fix with the skill that takes every condi off them every 10 seconds.

thief macro capability. give them a GCD like with mesmers

fix guard 15 vuln exploit.

fix every other ability that isnt working as intended

fix every other bug / exploit that ppl mentioned

    I feel like warriors already have enough survivability as it is with endure pain and shield block, damage could be somewhat adjusted, but it’s not a huge issue as warriors are extremely susceptible to kite (0 range capability with standard builds ppl running).

    Completely agree with you here, perhaps it could negate fall damage, but hp restoring, invulnerably, and a downed state move is just too strong.

    I sort of feel like ele’s need the crit chance to compensate for having to run valks amulate to not get 1 shot.
  • ele heals are worked on
    Heals aren’t a huge problem, more so condi removal.
  • mes portal is added to all classes
    A lot of teams are actually opting to run the double trap ranger/ele comps over mes, maybe adding portal function to 1 other class would be ok (warrior/ele most likley as giving port function to condi class or super bunkerish class like guard would be OP).
  • a 1v1 elite is added to mes or moa is put back to normal so were not forced to use time warp.
    Switch portal utility skill with mass invisibility, then teams would get to make more choices on what to run. Old moa was rely game breaking lol.
  • ranger fix with the skill that takes every condi off them every 10 seconds.
    Completely agree with you here, i’m pretty sure most rangers believe this is going to be fixed.

    This macro capability is subjective to the cast time of cloak and dagger skill, adding a global cd wouldn’t rely do anything to deter macro use without rendering d/d unable to pull off the cloak and dagger precast into steal.

I personally am hoping for bug fixes. Once trait and ability bugs are fixed, they can start balancing skills properly.

Me, like others , don’t blindly defend this profession.
We use data, numbers and videos to enforce our case, on the other side people simply expect Anet to take their opinion as a matter of fact without any actual data.
Before release , people were already crying for nerfs on ele , people were calling OP the s/d burst or the staff burst O_o, then after few months people started to say thate ele burst was too easy to dodge and that’s true.
This time is just another l2p issue and like everytime it’s much easier to cry on forums rather than try to adapt and get better.
Have you got a single video ( that it’s not WvWvW) where you can show your fight against this “too” strong ele or we’re just supposed to take your word for granted?

P.S can you pls show me this OP build I am apparently using now? People keep saying that I’m running this unbeatable OP build, so go on and show me this uber build

we know a big balance is coming on the 28th but again a lot of ppl are mad that we have no idea what the balance will be.

My opinion and i stated it before is players should be allowed to know whats coming so we dont get mesmers running around with 25 stacks of might all game and a patch for the update takes so long to roll out it ruins the game for a week or 2.

i know there is a big PR problem and you dont want to tell us because of sudden changes or changes not being made but im sure if you put in final patch notes “any of these changes stated are not final and subject to change” then noone can be mad.

a heads up on what you guys are doing helps keep us in the loop so we can make team changes in advance. this is one of the things the community means by keep talking to us.

You act as if there is only one Elite skill for the Mesmer. There is a thing called “choice” Sata. Also It’s not really too healthy to hope. As I always say. Expect the best, but plan for the worst. Nobody likes getting caught with their pants down.

Well again this patch seems like a disappointment from a feature standpoint. I would guess that the figures in gw2 are showing that PvE is way more popular in gw2 than PvP and that is why Anet have basically hung PvP out to dry. Whilst PvE get regular events, new dungeons, new items, new progression, new maps, constant promotions…..PvP has got….1 new map???? Honestly I think thats the extent of the PvP additions in the same time the PvE side of the game has had some huge content added to it.

Like many others I am losing faith with the PvP side of the game. There are just too many other games out there and I know that all those who left probably wont come back even if they do start to make the changes which PvP needs.

For me the core problem is a balancing problem. But I am talking about a larger scale than the Ele being OP or whatever. Yeh the ele needs to be nerfed and the warrior buffed. But I really dont care about that. I ditched my warrior and dont really care.

What I do care about is having fun. The problem I have is that the builds thats are dominant dont really promote interesting combat. It seems most players are either really hard to get down. So I can just spam everything I have at a guardian bunker with my necro and it takes a while to get him down even with some help. Meanwhile he literally just runs around and dodges peroidically whilst popping some defensive cooldowns. Not a very interesting fight and these are common.

If this isnt the case then you end up fighting some glass cannon who either destroys u in 0.5 seconds or just runs away or just gets counter burst/aoe down inside a second.

So, what do I want from this balance patch? Answer: I Dont care about individual class balance yet. I want substantial changes to make bunker builds less survivable vs balanced builds and to reduce the burst of some builds vs bunker builds and balanced builds.

I dont know how they can do this but if they are to do it then the “small steps” approach to balance that they have taken previously isnt going to work. When something is so fundamentally out of sync so that the pvp game often lacks fun then you need to just make some significant changes.

I am bored of the small steps that we have had for almost 6 months now. It is time for drastic changes which can save the pvp in this game and possibly bring back those who have left for pastures new.

I am sceptical they will do this though. I just dont think its even a remote possibility that you will be able to approach a bunker guardian post patch with a balanced build and be able to put him under any sort of serious pressure. WHich makes me sad.

So in conclusion I hope they use this balance patch to inject some fun into spvp by reducing the effectiveness of bunker and burst builds. I just dont see how this is possible with drastic changes though. And these changes are completely against what Anet has stated publically about liking to make small changes.

I always thought having a CC on someone for 10 seconds was ridiculous, even if it’s an elite. I think moa should be there to be a CC that takes someone out of the fight (ex. now that guardian can’t use stability for his team, or now that necro can’t signet res his team), not so you can use it and zerg the person that’s moa’d.

but idk, that’s just me.

While you worry about pvp at top level i would like anet to fix that stupid gimmick class that is the thief..and by fixing i mean nerfing the 1 shot combo and buffing everything else i dont care.
I brought a friend not long ago to try gw2 with me and we played a few hot join.There was a proper rank 40 thief who kept 1 shotting him over and over again.I told him about stunbreakers and tried to explain the mechanics..
But guess what the enemy team had another 3-4 thiefs that while being noobs they were critting for 5k hs on his low health..Tis is not a nice first impression
I guarantee you nobody will stick long enough to learn how to counter glory farming thiefs and god help him if 1 good enough decides to focus him whole game..

Mug damage decreased or stealth reworked to something like wow (once you’ve been spotted you must get out of combat to restealth)

spirit weapons made untargettable, if we cant damage them i dont want them clogging up my targetting.

something doing about severe clone spam, this is PVP not PVC (the stuff gimpsuits are made from)

Engineer
buffs across the board! make things like Flamethrower as good as they should be.

Ele’s having every boon permanently? What a joke. The only boons we can have up permanently are might fury and swiftness. To get this we need to spent 30 trait points, use all boon dur. Runes and use sigil of battle. We do have high uptime on boons with that but we have to somehow compensate for the lowest base stats ingame. And immume to conditions? Please.. we can remove 3-5 conditions every 10 seconds or so, this requires a total of 60 trait points though. I think it becomes clear that eles are forced into the 0/0/0/30/30 builds because with low damage, low hp, low armor we have to have some compensation. If they nerf us due the qq they better buff our general survivability. Also I still think it’s mostly a L2P issue. People don’t learn the ele skills and don’t pay attention to their attunements. Switched water→fire? Time for cc/dps/conditions. Air or earth? Get that stability up. These are just examples. Just my 2 cents. This post will probably be ignored since I play an ele. However I’ve never had trouble beating them on my necro, engineer and guardian either.

As it stands now if thieves had to get out of combat to restealth, they would become pretty useless fast. Its an annoying mechanic to fight, but if you ever play a thief youll find you completley rely on it because of how squishy you are at full burst.

And if your not a full burst thief, your pretty much a useless thief.

I kind of wish ANet would give up their slow and steady mentality, because that mentality really only works when you have a strong foundation. They should go for drastic and exciting until they build a better base game and then do minor changes to that every now and then to keep the game fresh.

That said, couple of thing’s I’d like to see in the near future.

The first is a total rework of thieves. Their class mechanics and individual abilities just aren’t fun, and they don’t contribute much at all to the game’s experience. Yeah they’re easy to kill and not overpowered, but their mechanics do nothing to challenge the user or the opponent. In fact I’d say that their one strength is to infuriate casuals. Major waste of a class slot.

Next I’d like to see ANet deal with overtuned builds. I’d like them tweak amulet stats. Make the stats more balanced so that players will see less fewer extreme burst and bunker builds. To take it a step further, they should make burst of all kinds more skills based. The current method of rubbing your face on the keyboard to execute burst gratifies poor play and does nothing to help improve players. On that note bunkering should be more about timely execution of heals and defensive skills, not just kiting and stacking regens/protection.

Finally I’d like to see Elites defining builds. In GW2 Elites are just another skill but stronger, with a few exceptions here and there. There’s very little depth to their use outside of doing more damage or efficiency of damage, and that makes them less exciting than they should be.

I think first they need to fix the pathfinding issues with warrior movement skills and bring up the other weapons, because really only the gs and greathammer have good weapon skills. Then they can look at buffing the warriors traits and utilities and stuff.

While what you say about the weapons is true, the warrior traits/utilities are still pretty craptastic overall. There’s a reason that the exact same few traits are picked and only a small divergence of utility choices. Instead of being in a position where warriors think “Ohh, do I pick this or THAT… man, tough choice” the choice is more like “omg, I have to pick between this or that? ew… guess I’ll take this one, it sucks the least”. Except for forceful greatsword. THAT is a good trait.

1)Bug fixes – This is a big one – lets pretend this game worked perfectly. Instead of class based QQ, this board would be filled with “My team lost a paid tourney because of Bug x” and “I’m not paying tickets until bugs are fixed”…and rightly so. If you want an ultra-competitive environment, it needs to work nigh flawlessly, or people are going to feel cheated. Even in hotjoin, its frustrating to lose fights due to bugs.

2) Skill and Trait fixes – Take a look at underperforming/poorly designed weapon skills, utilities and traits across all classes. Every class has a list of these, and its stifling the game tremendously. There are currently a tiny pool of “best” specs for each and every class – it leads to an extremely boring game, soft/hard counters, and predictability. I think the community understands that this isn’t going to happen in 1 huge patch – you need to be making tweaks constantly, and adjusting from there. We can be patient, if you show some kitten initiative and actually start making some changes.

Once most of the bugs are gone, and players have more build choices, then we can actually talk about balance.

If you’re a thief and haven’t
pre-ordered HOT at this point,
save yourself the money and don’t bother.
