That was amazing.

This one ranks really high up there in terms of memorable GW2 plays, right along Teldo 1v2’ing far during the EU PAX qualifiers. In some ways this one is actually more impressive because it is about team coordination, whereas Teldo’s heroics were about individual skill. Epic stuff, no question about it.

Where can I find this footage?

Don’t see how that’s clutch when they were already winning. If they were down and got the lord to win that would have been more impressive. It was good play but I don’t see that qualifying as “clutch”.

Wow! That was so hype!

For the amount of attention this replay has gotten, one would think red would win for a more epic ending. Was rooting for Red team, tbh. I like their comp more. No stacking eles plus they were the only ones that had a point and none were downed.

Too much of a big deal was made for the team already in the lead with 2 eles plus that 20 burn stacks that killed Red Lord

Lord needs a major buff. A 150pt reward shouldn’t take 5sec to kill.

Jebro, just wanna say that you do an awesome job in shoutcasting. I didn’t have half as much interest in watching GW2 PvP until I started watching games you shoutcasted (sorry Blu, lol).

And yea, I really hope to see more maps that utilize mechanics like that for some great PvP matches. Hopefully Stronghold will capture this well with high level organized play.

You dont have to be impressed , thats perfectly fine. Clutch doesn’t only happen when you are losing the game, to think that is a bit silly. They were on their way to getting wiped but with one person having proper positioning and some good tools he was able to reverse the wipe, his team trusted him enough to set the stage for lord (a risky move that could’ve ended up with a 3 cap and 2-3 downed), and because of those two things they sealed the win.

Being down and getting a lord kill happens somewhat often, so I guess I wouldn’t be all that impressed by that.

I’ve seen the lord get defended by a 5v4. It’s easy to keep the lord up with the right players.

If I need to tell people in this thread what clutch means I can do that, but seems some have come to the rescue.

Dragons are a top team featuring top tier players in PvP. oRNG just had a great day of games and ended in a spectacular manner.

They were winning, yep you’re right. But wiping out 2 players may have lead to a snowball situation of the map for dragons. The combo of frostball ressing Mini to then hold the focus while Tage then self res’s even slightly to give enough time to Sin to move in stealth res then move Minishee into a portal for an attack on lord… The movement on the team,communication and patience was clutch in itself.

Good point. I’m a hypocrite because I also like how the lord is atm. Blue team did the right thing but I just didn’t like the double ele comp and hoped Red won.

Sure you have! You sell me competitive match views all the time. I generally don’t watch competitive GW2, but how much you get into it gets me into it. Commentary is key!

Annyways, here we go.

Baseball is like Conquest in that it has a score and it has teams, that is the extent of which they are similar.

*Baseball has separated offense from defense
– This is supremely important in the fact that no one can score while on defense, and obviously the converse is true as well, no one can be scored on while playing offense.
– This is a huuuuge difference from Conquest where both teams can score at any time, whether it be from capturing points, killing players, or killing PvE characters; there’s effectively no true “offense” or “defense.”

You can’t end a game by scoring a homerun when you are leading 5-4
– I agree there is nothing clutch about scoring a homerun while ahead 5-4, because it’s not a vital moment.
– All this does it put you further ahead.
– *The other team still has a chance to win. This is very much unlike the move oRNG made which finalized the game.

*Teams don’t temporarily “lose” players
– There will always be 9 players on the field at all times playing defense.
– With Conquest if you lose three players at once you are setting yourself up for a snowball effect, which can only happen psychologically in baseball. In this way hockey would be even more relevant than baseball.

A better baseball analogy would be snagging a would-be 2 run homerun while ahead 5-4 in the bottom of the 9th (or later). Or better yet, don’t use baseball as an analogy because it is so incredibly different it’s stupid to compare the two.
