I’m not an awesome player, but I figure that I’m above average: to put it in perspective, with my non-cookie-cutter bleed thief, I go into fights against most professions feeling that I’ve got a reasonable chance of victory.
Anyhow, one evening I was in a duel server for a few hours and there was a bunker guardian in there killing everyone he fought. When my chance to fight him came up, we ended up calling it a draw after about 10 minutes: we both always had the cooldowns we needed to prevent the other from winning.
As a Minionmancer Necro, I was in an match where the bunker guardian was beating everyone down. I walked in killed him in less than a minute, and walked away. Necros are the hard counter to guardians and elementalists. The day I lose to one of those would be a first. On the necro forums, not one person has ever commented about having trouble with a guardian.
Now a grenade engineer or a trap monkey/ranger ugh or that crazy p/d theif build ugh, but guardians are almost nothing. The reason more people think the guardian is great is because there are more theives, eles, mesmers, and warriors than any other build. The guardian has great counters to each of those classes, but you ask any ranger, engineer, or necro if they have any issues dispatching a guardian, and not a single one will say even break a sweat against the guardian.

Moas heal for 4 k on a 30 secs CD ( when traited). A traited moa will heal for 5 k +.
And also has AoE daze on a 30 secs CD.
Full bm Bunker rangers are very strong, but very few play them, because overall hybrid BM rangers are better in team fights ( and trap rangers are better at protecting the treb).
If the ele wasn’t so OP, we would start to see more BM bunker rangers.

Indeed! I think the game is more balanced than the general population thinks, especially when it comes to particular builds countering others.
That’s not to say that further balancing isn’t needed or that the game is without its issues, but having tried out all the professions to some extent in PVP, the only prof the cries slightly OP to me is the ele.

Exactly, the OP contributed his own list at the beginning but after that he averaged out all the responses. So the reason eles are at the top of his list is because they’ve been at the top of almost every response, not because the OP is lobbying for ele nerfs.
This is also important because it allows players/devs to track changes over time. For example, if 10/30/30 ele gets nerfed this patch and immediately all the responses start putting ele at the bottom, the devs know they did something horribly wrong. More likely, after the patch eles will still be at the top of everyone’s list, and the devs will know some other professions need minor buffs/fixes (like trap rangers got) to make them as powerful as the current S and A professions.
Eles will probably fall because the majority of people using them are being carried by the mechanics and not their skill. So all of a sudden people will say eles are bad because they have to try now.

There is no way you beat a bunker guardian with a minion necro 1 on 1 unless:
1, THE guardian’s skill level was way below yours
2, The guardian had no cooldowns left
3, The guardian started the fight on less health.
Have fun fighting a guardian with a minion necro when he is just going to bash off the point constantly with his constant stability whilst you have none.
Also a guardian has amazing condition removal on alot of the builds that current bunker guards run. As in you can unload your entire condi necro burst (on a proper condition build) and the guardians condition removal will just get rid of the conditions and load up on boons faster than you can reapply them.
Ranger however is a hard counter to the guardian.

I expect ele’s to drop a peg and Mesmers to overtake.
I expect Necros and Engis to improve and Thiefs to drop.
Warriors have no other direction left BUT to improve.
Why are Thieves B tier and not A tier? Their damage and burst capacity is incredible and they have a lot of movement. Is it because they’re mostly limited to roaming?

Its mostly cause in tpvp situations you can handle them easily..From my experience and what i ve seen from streams of top teams so far at high end pvp a thief has a very hard time doing his 1shot job properly if the team is keeping track of him.
Of course being able to 1shot people is stupid in first place but its certainly counterable and not worthy of the god/superior tier :P

I could care less about condition removal. Your common misunderstanding about necros is what makes us so powerful against guardians. I will take a few seconds to help you out.
1. Condi necro’s can control and reapply conditions faster, and strip boons better than anyone else in the game. No decent condi necro sits through stability.
2. Minion mancers strip boons as well. Rip through guardians heals, and deal consistent damage rendering his aegis pretty ineffective.
3. Your lack of understanding of a Necro’s abilities are prevalent in the game, and one of the reasons at high end tournament we are so successful againt bunker builds.
I have never once ran into a bunker build i couldn’t dispatch with ease, and I have never once had another Necro have an issue with any of the numerous various builds guardians come into.
Apparently you have ran into necro’s who only spam conditions all at once, never know how to move, only use staff, and completely avoid weapon swapping. I think you need a bit more experience before talking.

Eles are still god tier because triple cantrips were not nerfed. They also sneezed on Evasive Arcana, which I have always wanted a reason NOT to use.

Evasive Arcana is nerfed so it’s Half the heal (prob should’ve increased timer to 15 sec too…but if the heal is that bad ill just run elemental surge)

I think it brings us down a bit but…not insane that’s for sure.
100nades Engi is dead, thief burst not reduced rangers nerfed (but they didn’t fix the traps thing….huh), and looks like Necros got buffed.

Vigorous Shouts: This trait has been fixed to properly affect allies within a range of up to 600.
Updated shouts to display the out-of-range indicator if your target is out of range.
Last Stand: Added a cooldown to the trait’s description.
Impale: This ability’s cooldown has been reduced to 15 seconds.
Pin Down: This ability now applies bleeding to targets that it hits.
Players wielding Banner of Defense, Discipline, Strength, and Tactics will now strike up to three targets with their Stab ability.
Smoldering Arrow: This ability is now a full projectile finisher.
Burst Skills: Damage tooltips now properly reflect equipped weapon damage.

I think its maybe the tiniest of nerfs??
So what does this mean? Well it means if you dont roll an ele then you have at least another month of playing against a class which basically is just an unfair advantage for your opponent. Its almost like a gear differential. I say an ele has full ascended gear whilst everyone else in in rares :P

I will admit. I laughed out loud when I saw the warrior changes. Apparently being the king of speed runs in pve means zero improvements for pvp abilities. Though I think we may now see Banner warriors running around in tpvp haha! Ooo, and impale that’s SCARY!
I think you can now create a SSSensational tier for Elementalists now.

They could make significant nerfs and it would still be number 1 or close to. If you cant own with your ele then you should work on your game/build

I would have been content with just the nerfs, if they didnt get offsetting buffs.
Honetsly i dont want them nerfed to the ground, i really dont, i just wanted them toned down and to not be soo strong. Playing will confirm, but my suspicion is eles will still be the dominant class, and that means the nerf was insufficient.
I believe Anet has clearly stated that bunkers are here to remain, if anything the nerfs that you guys so much requested have affected only those eles ( like me) who were not running bunker ( and far what reasons? You do no dmg as bunker), so while the nerf on RTL is not the end of the world, it’s still an unnecessary nerf for eles who were not running bunker.
Anet has cleverly decided not go the “all nerfs” way with the bunkers because you know? the more you nerf bunker the less we can play balanced build as the survivability drop even more.
For me everytime I decided to use EA, I could expect at most 1.3k healing with a roll in water…now it’ll be around 500 HP healing…nearly worthless while bunkers still can heal themself for over 2k HP, if you nerf EA even more I’d have no healing at all from EA compared to bunkers…do you people get it or not?
Your nerf calls on bunkers only affetc bala build users….few of us don’t go running around with the 0/10/0/30/30 and neither use 3 cantrips like people as @Zoose who always acting all high and mighty while being a FOTM ele himself.
If you guys would be sensible enough, you could be asking for radical changes like base HP buff on eles and removal of water heals replaced by evasive water skills…but no instead you keep asking to simply nerf bunker which inevitably hit only eles who run balanced builds..what can I say? GG

But he invented the S-class, thereby putting the top ranked profession in the “polls” in a category of its own. That is what I meant.

This seems a really bad new map for a necro because of the lack of ledges to spam from and ways to kite/LOS those trying to own you.
Edit: Also we lack the burst required to drop orb carriers. Although carrying the orb in plague form is useful I suppose.

Its important to have a few days including the weekend to pass by so that people actually figure out the new map and the new effectiveness of classes like ele after the nerf.You cant possible expect people to immediately react to changes?? :o
From what ive seen so far everyone is completely confused trying the most basics of things with the map so…
In fact i think you should wait a lot more than a week judging by the state of this..communtiy
I’m going to leave the new lists on screen for a few days before averaging them. Giving people time to edit their results based on their experiences.
The actual day I’ll update the list is Monday evening. Hopefully that satisfies everyone. We just need to keep the flow of conversation going.

Now i main a ranger! Warrior is just a simple horror.
It’s kind of difficult to do a top class rating considering most excel in specific areas. Emphasis on ‘most’. Just for reference I main thief 70% of the time and engineer the other 30%. I’ll mostly base this on who excels the most in 1v1 situations.
1. Elementalist
It’s a very difficult task to be able to kill an elementalist in a 1v1 situation, regardless of your spec. They can outheal you, most of the time deal more dps and have significantly better mobility than nearly all over classes (thief almost comes to par). Now I was on my thief (backstab) and just had a match where I was in a 1v1 situation defending the node for some reason and this took well over a minute to kill this elementalist who I knew was pretty good. Whenever I see eles I always preserve my shadowstep for when I get updrafted because they 100% of the time use their burst straight after and you negate a LOT the initial damage. To beat them you usually have to deal your main damage after they have swapped attunements from water, and its a lot about timing. You really have to be on your toes to beat an elementalist 1v1 which is why I’d say they’re the best. A bunker ele on your close point is not a pretty sight either…
2. Mesmers. Simply because if you get caught in their shatter combo its game over, and while being a total glasscannon it still has excellent survivability. Time warp could do with a reduction in duration IMO, but on the whole they are a lot easier to 1v1 than elementalists.
3. Rangers. Played right rangers can be amazing at 1v1s, had many frustrating battles with several rangers. Unfortunately they are severely limited on their range of viable builds, which I hope anet will address
4.Thief. It’s tough with this one. A condition thief is very good at defending a node by itself but if they are a class with multiple condi removals its gg. And a glasscannon thief is easily my favourite 1v1 simply because I can move around and have a great deal of burst damage but I’m extremely fragile so if I’m caught out of position its game over. Thieves can really mean the difference in team fights and vital extra points, so played right you can be a valuable asset.
5. Engineer – Very fun class to play and very viable at 1v1s but only really has 1 or 2 specs to be useful. If engineers get caught in team fights however they tend to fall over very quickly.
6. Guardian- Bunker, can’t be killed with the majority of builds, off guard is okay in 1v1 but others can do much much better.
7. Necromancer. Necro is an odd child. It’s mediocre in 1v1s, probably would be much better if the pet AI wasn’t mind numbingly bad. But they can really turn a team fight around.
8. Warrior……… Nuff said. If I’m on my engineer I just laugh and kite him around and thief I just dance and wait for his endure pain to end. This class is in need of a major overhaul and my hat goes off to anyone who can play warrior in high end pvp.
This is my new personal tier list and it’s more focused on Class Use and the new Map.
Tier S
- Elementalist – Reason: Some loss in bunkering / dps viability (correct me if I’m wrong).

I feel like necro should be at least + due to the nerf to emphatic bond making us alot better vs rangers. And if you are talking about the new map then the ele should be ++ or even above tier s. Its been balanced more on other maps but on this map it is grossly OP due to the RTL with the orb bug. And the fact an ele can rtl/lightning flash to the orb and pick it up before the other team can get there (if they have no ele).
