sPvP - Simply Horrible

no, something like faster PvP updates would be a good start.
So is wvw and PvE. Despite the fact that spvp is horrible , it’s better than the zerg fest in wvw or the “stack” fest in PvE.

If sPvP would be even half as fun as killing risens in orr i actually would play it sometimes. Now they removed 8 vs 8 and can’t even put jewel in amulet so it’s totally unplayable.

Wow.. PVErs gonna pve :/
As a whole horrible is pretty harsh. The combat system is the best out in my opinion. That said, conquest and leaderboards is getting a bit stale. I can only imagine how the top guys on the boards feel who don’t have rank progression anymore.
It doesn’t seem like PvP is going to change again anytime soon unfortunately. The rewards system is nice. PvPers can get legendaries now because of it. However, if you’re not feeling challenged, competitive people aren’t going to stay around if they find something else that is.
If I ever were to leave from getting bored of the game mode, I’m willing to wait/come back when/if we get some really good PvP updates. Hopefully the game’s best PvPers who have left or will leave in between are willing to as well. Because in order to take this game to the top of the mountain, community is a significant part, but so is balance, fun, and the game’s systems.

Its season 2 in WvW ending soon yet there havent been even one season in PVP… tournament of legends is nice and all but it doesnt motivate me to play on daily basis

…how in the world can killing scripted NPCs be better than PvP?
Power creep is a very dangerous thing. Between that and infrequent updates…there is a stake in the heart. There are just so many discouraging things in this game-mode…its honestly hard to really care much at all.
yeah. I’ve pretty much given up on spvp all together. i wish it was good.

What makes GW2 agonizing is that the game mode is not supported by the devs in anywhere near the kind of way other games do. The combat system is just better than everyone else’s. The dodging mechanic is so great, and once you are familiar with how the classes work you really see how the best players in GW2 are worthy of applause.
Anet has clearly written off PvP development as a long term thing in pursuit of more appealing opportunity cost-determined goals, like giving people more microtransactions to buy, launching in another part of the world, etc. They knew they screwed up PvP from the start and there just isn’t justification to reinvest and rebuild the game from their business perspective.
This isn’t Square Enix folks, they don’t have the guts to rebuild something that people have largely agreed is not working. They’d rather just work on something else and be okay with mediocrity. They’ll “but what if it doesn’t work” counter-argument that every single time it’s brought up.

Wow, spamming 1 on those brainless AI undeads are so much fun!
Now please go back to PVE…
I know all you want is spamming 1 and auto-win.
Yea i’m slowly losing more incentive to play each day and I am ever so slowly creeping towards a new game. Suggestions that might make me want to invest more time into pvp and keep me from quitting?
Suggestions
Incentives – Real Rewards exclusive to pvp that arn’t on tracks and reward player skill (titles skins)
- 2v2 3v3 Arenas -with their own leaderboards and rewards.
- New game modes CTF, deathmath etc, lots of possitibilies (community can help you guys here)
- A reason/incentive to create a team and play with them consistently. Right now the only real team that ques seriously and practices every week with their full roster on NA is good fights and probably TCG and 55 HP monks for EU
Give us a reason to play with our teammates and continue to improve as a team. Right now mostly everyone just creates pug groups or super pug groups and there is just no team vs. team competition in team q arena.
Tournament of Legends was perfect for this, as there were hundreds of teams that signed up. However, after that they had no reason to continue, give them a reason or host Tournament of Legends more frequently (2x a month?). I don’t really consider the weekly Mispedia or ESL tourneys as enough of an incentive.
I could go on, but I feel like I waste my time here. If a dev posts i’ll consider expanding this list.

good luck to you all ppl.
but frankly i dont have sympathy for anyone in spvp, but those who pvp for pvp’s sake. i dont care about top tpvp teams who cry for cash prizes “to have some incentive to play”, nor i care for pve crowd who asks for shiny goodies “to have incentive to play”. the only guy i care about is the one who plays to practice and know he can outplay the others.
good luck anet catering to dozen different sorts of whiners, couldnt care less.
The main problem with spvp is that from the start this game has always rewarded bad play. Look an engis and hambow right now its just faceroll bad and it tops out any other spec in the game with zero skill. Same with MM necro, turrents and the old mesmer shatter builds. Pvp in this game has ALWAYS been based on what spec is able to be exploited most at the time. If you don’t play the fotm class and build your simply at a huge disadvantage. Worst of all Anet has shown they have no concept of how to balance there own game and really its a second thought to them trying to sell junk in the gemstore anyway.
good luck to you all ppl.

Have fun in PvE & WvW. Grinding mindlessly and effortlessly for nothing.
I used to run the Academy Gaming tournaments for GW2.

Cop out. A-net has largely failed any way you slice it. They have failed according to everything they said during this game’s development. Nice try pushing it on the player’s though. Too bad A-net hung themselves with there own rope too many times to account. It’s not our fault you didn’t pay attention to what they said all during development. They promised a lot of the things people are complaining about we didn’t just make this stuff up.

I am sort of at that same stage as well. PVP is utterly crap right now. We did ask for new maps, modes, something to give some life to the dying mode and we got our answer. Skyhammer. That was the answer we got, and a complete neglect of balance (even ANet staff have said warriors need a real sorting out).
I actually prefer the longer queue times of old if it meant the games had a better type of player in them. As long as a player knows their class and wants to win, I am happy. Far too many “just want the reward tracks” and my personal fav “what does the pistol do on my thief?”…
2v2 3v3 arena has been asked for since the first day it came out. People said, lots of them, that conquest is a pretty dull way to play the game.
Consider all the ways the current situation is and then count out of that the moments that are PVP. Killing NPCs isnt, sitting on a super gun isnt, falling through glass on only one map (either balance around it or remove it), the whole capture point thing just isnt a great deal of fun. SoloQ highlights perfectly why it simply does not work. And why does every other game offer a few different game modes, some which are clearly just tacked on as an after thought, yet GW2, 2 years on, still only one crap game mode that was boring a year ago.

Lel. To each his own, but if you think stacking on a boss and spamming your skills is fun…
PvE is that way —-——————————>
ANet gave up on PvP years ago. The crap they pulled with GW1 PvP is evident of that. Despite their completely empty promises with GW2, I don’t know why anyone took them seriously when they talked about GW2 PvP.

GW1 PvP still is the best PvP in any RPG around, there are a couple of of meta builds for each prof at a time but they get balanced out among themselves that it actually feels varied. In GW2 it seems they try to do everything all at once, failing in the process and push out the unfinished product with decent marketing calling it “revolutionary”.
