Why do people always ask for 2v2 3v3 5v5 and skip 4v4?
People have been asking for this since beta. It doesn’t seem that hard to implement, so I’m guessing they have some reason they just don’t want to implement them in this game (even the new modes that have been leaked to be in progress are not ranked arena).

The PvP community cannot sustain itself if the ques split. It is already collapsing, and if you add 2v2, 3v3, etc. then it would be instant perma-death.
I agree different types of maps would be good, but they need to be implemented into the existing solo and team ques.
All the maps should be 5v5 max imo. Fighting 20 clones and 10 thieves guild gets annoying in these 8v8s with rage quits.
Give resources and recreate GW1.

Also, get rid of the pve things. Treb has 1 shotted me so many times.
I always make fun of people who use pve in pvp. You know, like how we make fun of people in WvW who use open-field siege to avoid having to actually progress via skill.
Want to stake someone? Better have invuln up or it’s down state for you by treb/laser/cannon.
Engie/Guardian/Thief are the majority of classes being played.
Engie has insane cc with low cds. High sustained damage with confusion.
Guardian can tank an entire team and still pump out the damage.
Thief is just plain cheese, lets face it. Even more so in WvW since they can’t be isolated in corners.
IMO, Ele is the least played class because bunker d/d was nerfed into the ground. Me, I can’t stand playing any other weapon set in spvp. If I want to do any reasonable damage, I have to be glass, and I’m already the focus of every other class in the match. spvp is garbage as an ele, and the only reason to play it is when WvW is dead, which is most of the day.
the problem is that the gameplay isnt fun, and needs a thorough rework. Even the devs must secretly recognize this by now, but they havnt got the resources on the pvp team to actually undertake such a project (because pvp should have self evolving content and require a small team) — and anet wont seam to loan the ‘project’ team to PvP because nobody cares about PvP and anet would rather retain players that like their game than make good on their promises to deliver AAA esport PvP.
Business needs are trumping ethical game design in a company thats usually pretty kitten ed dedicated to ethical game design. I suspect there is a cancer somewhere near the top. Likely the same cancer that forced the game to launch when pvp was clearly noteven close to done, and who insisted on bad pvp gameplay decisions (but neat ideas, on paper it sounds fine) such as stomping… despite mass player feedback that it was bad.
Simply put; balance classes, from the core, not just cutting her and there and buffing here and here and here and there and then nerfs eles again for good measure.
I love the game but everytime i enter pvp it makes me want to throw a kitten and a puppy down a spiked stair. The game consists of dungeons and wvw end game, yet it seems all the class balance is based solely on pvp, so you get a lot of angry people who out of spite sabotage it, and complain.
You want people to take esport seriously? Start treating classes seriously
Nobody cares about a game where a thief can pop out of nowhere and pop a ele In a sec with no counterplay, fun for the thief, but neither fun for the rest of the player base nor the watchers. Same with AIs, people go OOHHHhh when a player does a hard and complicated combo is pulled, but nobody is impressed when a stunned ranger hits 3 keys and an ele blows , or when you throw a couple clones and phatasms and they do their work for you, or when minions clog the observer and players vision, and then proceed to steamroll the enemy, and a little asura in the middle of it all, spamming conditions

They’ve been working on and testing Deathmatch and King of the Hill.
I think just adding these game types to sPvP will increase the sPvP playerbase by a good amount, at least at first. Then it will be up to how well these game types play that will determine if the population increase will stick around.
As far as 2v2, 3v3, and other player count settings go, I think it would be a bad idea at first. Better to stick to 5v5 and 8v8 when introducing these game types to see how they play. If you have too many splits, it will divide the already thin playerbase for sPvP. If the Playerbase continues to rise after these game types are introduced, THEN begin implementing 2v2, 3v3, and so on.
1. Add rewards to PvP so that it attracts more player, a lot of pvpers might disagree, but they are the first to whine how PvP is dead or how it isn’t growing.
2. get rid of 8v8, it gives players the wrong impression. Instead of being welcoming to new players, it just makes spvp seem like a constant zergfest, keep the zerg at WvW.
3. Do not add anything other than 5v5, a lot of people are going to argue otherwise, but bad idea unless spvp picks up significantly.
4. balance. Make every class like the elementalist, TTK in PvP is way too short, you can barely react depending on the class. Everything about them (ele) is obvious they have almost no passive play and their passive play is obvious and apparent and not in your face. Reduce the effect of pets/minions. and significantly reduce the damage of phantasm and put the damage back to the player (mesmer), Minions and pets should be ultilities not free Ai damage.
This is an mmo forum, if someone isn’t whining chances are the game is dead.
Absolutely 3v3 will help to grow up pvp in gw2. many of my friends say that if here will be a ranked 3v3 they immediately come here to play.

No one cares about sPvP, it’s a sideshow. They will increase the playerbase IF THEY BALANCE THIS GAME PROPERLY and cut down on these ridiculous meta’s. Imagine how someone will feel if they join a hotjoin match and come across the current FOTM Hammer/Longbow warriors build that’s dominating (ruining) matches at the moment, I guarantee they won’t play many matches…
