I hope this isn’t a bug, ‘cause it didn’t make much sense for them to instantly attack a stealthed player when he came out of stealth, before the mesmer even realized where the stealthed player was to begin with either.

It is a huge issue. For example, if I am dueling a thief and he stealths, my clones which I was going to use to shatter him are now gone. It even furthers the disadvantage of mesmers against thieves.

This bug/random idea the devs are testing is hoooooorible for mesmers, clones die easy enough and so annoying to summon already and don’t eeven go for your target, they will go for whatever the kitten they want

I have not been able to get in game and test yet, but from reading this seems like a kick in the teeth for shatter builds.

Does not take into account shatter fodder – AI is irrelevant in this case, just not having illusions up on your target neuters shatter dps.
5 bucks say that the same thieves who cried unfair when sickem became a hard counter will say this is okay

I haven’t played MM in a while, but I’m pretty sure that “bug” is still around. I hope this change to clones stays. Being able to summon phantasms and run away while they killed the thief was/is quite broken.
The main problem was that phantasm attacks AND the phantasm summon skills recharged while the thief is in stealth. This allowed for instant burst from summoned phantasms once the thief broke stealth + 2nd round of burst from shatter + 3rd round of burst from resummoning of phantasms. This is all on top of the automatic tracking + location revealing of the thief. Any mesmer that needs this to win vs thief should consider learning to play the game instead of relying on broken mechanics.
I would hope thats a bug – sounds very unreasonable. However, clones/phantasms reacquiring a target after they stealthed automatically is also BS and unreasonable. This is certainly not the way to fix it though…

I would hope thats a bug – sounds very unreasonable. However, clones/phantasms reacquiring a target after they stealthed automatically is also BS and unreasonable. This is certainly not the way to fix it though…
Agreed – phantasms tracking and attacking immediately on the target reappearing is cheesy, but likewise having to resupply shatter fodder in that short window when a target destealths is just as bad.
How about simply have all illusions go idle when they try to attack but can’t acquire a target that has stealthed and pause the phantasm internal clock – they can only attack the target again after you have reaquired and begin to attack the target.
Perhaps phantasm cooldowns could be reset so they don’t immediately attack, but have to wait a few seconds?
I dunno, just throwing some ideas out there, because this change is very crude.

Needs sorted asap. Imagine stealth emptied adren or initiative, clones are our resource.

Being ignorant about the Mesmer class doesnt help the situation. Mesmer rely on illusions for defense aswell. A thief goes into stealth, all my illusions die, now I cant Distortion? There goes my chain-Daze setup?
Its not just Phantasm builds being affected; its every Mesmer crippled.

The DE nerf wasnt a big deal compared to this. The DE nerf was a crappy attempt to nerf PU Mesmer (who are still likely gonna get nerfed anyways)
