Hello fellow PvP’ers!

Recently I haven’t been playing GW2 at all because of my laptop dying on me * cough * dropped it * cough *, but I managed to get everything back together and join the PvP world again. I think most people know me for my videos (YouTube), but more importantly for my powermancer (skillzzz). I’ve been playing GW2 now, for one and a half years and throughout this period I’ve always mained necro, and specifically power.

Been playing it for ~500 hotjoint matched (before I learned that ranked PvP existed >.>), and after that ~700 ranked/unranked. Now in these 1200 matches I’ve learnt a lot and I like to believe that I’m a pretty decent necro :P Playing one of the hardest classes to play in PvP can a real pain sometimes, but at around 1k matches I really noticed how everything went a lot…. ‘smoother’.

…kinda make me sad. Not that these players are bad, but PvP is currently a somewhat hard place to be as a necro, and that can frustrate players (like the above). I just like me necro too much to have ever given up, and that’s the reason why I think I’ve been succeeding a lot more currently. I don’t expect it to get much better from now on though. The celengineer, celementalists and shoutbows are still a pain in the a** to fight against and especially for powermancers.

Now, powernecro’s have never been really utilized in high tier PvP, with the exception of shiziso (idk how to type his name) and of course team Radioactive. Most people wouldn’t choose a necro for their PvP team, which is fully understandable, but at the same time I see too many people jump to conclusions and say things like: ‘Power necro in tpvp? lulz go to hotjoint’ usually because they read it somewhere.

This isn’t a ‘plz buff powa nec plz, k thx’ thread, but more a ‘OMG look at what a Necro can achieve when played somewhat right!’ (Not saying I don’t want buffs, but you get the point :P)

Although it is easier than condi necro.

You shouldn’t waste ur wurm that often on stomping actually, but I like it that youre trying to find builds in which you use the focus instead of dagger or warhorn offhand.

Yep, the timing is a little trickier than plague, never tried moa…. hrm.

Holl firebird is on NA, probably has an EU acct though. He is one of radioactives necros (I’d say the stronger one)

Power. easier than condi? I would have to disagree but that’s IMO.
And yes, usually I use wurm to disengage, but since Wurm stomping looks cooler I put that in my montage

I have builds for all 3 offhands though, since they can all work for power builds

Oh. Might be because I’ve only ever read about Vine (by coincidence) once a few weeks ago. Never heard about it before and never heard about it again since then. ^^

You can stomp in Lich Form basically with the same method that you used to stomp in Death Shroud before the change, and that is by exploiting lag so that you send the command to start the stomp before the game registers that you are transformed and removes that ability from you. Basically you trick the game (with lag) to think that you aren’t transformed and starting to stomp, when in reality by the time you start stomping you have already transformed, so it doesn’t cancel the channel.

And I personally do not really use Portal on my Mesmer in PvP… but I just remembered that I maybe should try Phase Retreat —> Blink stomping at some point.

Any stomp that involves distort, blink + phase retreat and distort is often a waste of CDs which, depending on the tier of opponents will sometimes be fatal. You should really leave it to other classes to do that most of the time, but after a 1v1 it’s always nice to show off with a portal stomp :P
Best stomp on mes I’ve seen was, put portal down PR distance behind where you’ll be standing while stomping, open portal, begin stomp, phase retreat to the portal, portal through, portal back, blink back onto the enemy and thus finish the stomp. Haven’t tried it and I’m unsure if it’s still possible.
I think portal is a must in organized teams. Doesn’t have to be teamspeak but just people that will know how to use it with you and won’t completely ignore it, with those types of people I just run either condi cleanse mantra if enemy team has a lot of condis, interrupt mantra if they have warriors (to interrupt banner), feedback if they have a lot of engis/rangers or mirror images if they have bursty type classes that I can easily get a quick burst on via MI

I love power necro, first character I ever made at launch. Seems to get more and more popular every day. Hoping to see it get better and better.
