tPvP build list by Dantes
That’s a nice and insightful list.
The devs should put it on the stickies.
Good job and good list

Hey Dantes, awesome list, just a note on the Lockdown Mesmer:
“A newer build with some of flavor of the GW1 Mesmer. It plays similar to a phantasm Mesmer but you constantly snare the opponent. And use well timed interrupts to stop or slow down key skills while staking might to increase your offensive power.”
One of the key aspects of the traditional 4/4/6 lockdown Mesmer build is it’s ability to strip boons (Domination VII) better than pretty much any other class/build besides 4/4/0/0/6 Shatter builds. Besides the interrupts, this is a big part of what make that build valuable and is far more important to trait Shattered Concentration over GS training. (Also, staff is a viable alternative to GS)
I’d also argue that grabbing offhand Focus is considerably more valuable than Pistol for tPvP as the focus offers an AoE interrupt, AoE Cripple, AoE Swiftness, LIGHT combo field (retaliation), and the iWarden nullifies projectiles (and.. hits in an AoE).

I added focus as an additional build and made a note about staff.
Errr sorry, forgot to mention. Deceptive Evasion is also key in the standard lockdown build rather than Duelist discipline, no matter which variant you make. (DE is important for chain dazes among other things)
It essentially plays more like a shatter build than phantasm.

Thank you a lot, Dantes. I felt completely lost about current meta before, luckily, somebody directed me to your reddit post today. I also think this post should be stickied (like Django guides!) so new PvP players have easy access to this great materials

I saw the post on reddit yesterday and I wanted to say thank you for making this! It has actually helped me out a bit in envisioning how I would want to play some of the other classes that I have yet touched for tPvP/sPvP
Thanks for the post, it has some good info on it.
Been looking for an updated version, thank you so much! I can finally research what people are throwing at me exactly. Appreciated!!
That Axe build on Warrior is solid, although on the variant I’m not really sure it’s worth taking Building Momentum because it was “fixed” and now barely gives any endurance. While it hurts to lose Reckless dodge putting 10 into Tactics for Desperate Power makes it synergize well with Defy Pain and allows for some pretty clutch turnarounds especially vs squishy targets.
Old Man Burr (War), Bad Hat Ben (Engi), Manly Manny Manson (Guard)
Awesome list! Definitely the best compilation of meta builds I’ve seen since back when IntoTheMists.com forums were active.
Glass Cannon Ele is just awful. No matter how I play it, it always end up being high risk, low reward.
4x Necromancer, 3x Mesmer, 4x Guardian, 4x Thief, 4 Revenant
I take two minutes of my time to sign in and thank you for that post. I saw it on reddit and thought it was awesome, and now I can thank you for it. Great job.
