I think ‘hamburger’ was lost in translation xD. From what I understand u’r asking for heroes or mercenaries because you are having to move to a higher level area since areas lack events/ hearts to level you up to the intended level before you move to the next area. While I’ve experienced this as well I don’t think heroes are the way to go. They were possible in gw1 because all maps were instanced. If they add heroes to gw2 the maps will get overloaded really fast and it will also discourage team play.

I’ve found that my characters progress so fast that they “outgrow” a zone before they finish it. I pretty much just stick to Daily Achievements, Renown Hearts, and Dynamic Events, with some farming for crafting gear. I’ve solo battled and consistently won against mobs 4 and 5 levels higher depending on my class. I’ve also solo battled and lost against mobs lower than me. It’s a matter of picking the battles you fight.

It would be nice though if Storyline instances had a party size of five, where you could fill the party with other players or with heroes or mercenaries. But for the open world, I don’t see a need.

I kinda agree for the personal story part, the thing is the AI is kinda dumb anyway I mean, even in gw1 heroes and henchies were kinda ok but certainly not optimal and considering it’d take a lot of effort to add a new heroes-system I’d simply get more friendly units to follow you in personal story.

The fact that you get bored after doing that many dynamic events and worry about getting overleveled clearly shows what I think is a big problem with low level areas… which is stats scaling, I think the “max equip-stats” should be lower, I want lower stats else I’m just too overpowered with those extra skills too.

But then you’ll say: there’s low population anyway, so it’d backfire….
…true, but I think a good way to overcome this would be making stronger NPCs, I mean atm they can’t stand a single fight, they rarely survive, I think we should get stronger/more NPCs patrols scaling on the number of players in the map to overcome low player base on particular servers and possibly desert maps.

There’s many ways to avoid the heroes & henchies system, and I’m glad it won’t happen.

It goes like this, bigger enemies/bosses/champions are meant to be killed with groups and not solo, as they usually guard chests nodes and such things, but they need smart players anyway… would you rather have a real player or an AI controlled unit (which is likely to be extremely dumb considering they won’t jump)?

AI’d be close to useless

Terrible idea!
Being outnumbered on a map is a driving factor in warfare!

What Arenanet needs to do about WvW is remove the necessity to get into it for Monthly Achievements and Map Completion, that way you will have less cues and fewer people who are just after the temporary rewards!
I always feel bad when I go about collecting Vistas with my Alts instead of helping out.

As to the topic at hand:
Culling is already bad, so you want to give everyone 1 or maybe more extra NPC to follow them around?
For the personal story you already have NPC by your side.

I really miss Heroes myself. I am extremely gun shy about partying with people I don’t know, even in GW2 (way too many times being yelled at…), so despite having multiple characters over level 45… I’ve never done any of the dungeons, or Fractals, or any of the other things that you have to have a full 5 people to do. Having Heroes I could bring along, or even ones that I had to hire to use for X amount of time, would be helpful.

Lara, not just warrior but guardian, engineer, ranger, elementalist, and necromancer have bested 4 and 5 levels above. Even multiple targets with encounters up to 3 or 4 mobs attacking me. My thief has done the same but only 2 or 3 levels above. I just don’t get the mesmer, and it struggles with the same level.

Eleri, find a guild that advertises itself as a casual, relaxed guild. One where they are about enjoying the game and doing so in a friendly manner. Avoid the guilds that just go for the gold/glory/world domination that demand perfection. Even just forming a party with one person and playing the pve game and events is a lot of fun. If you like the way the party goes, add the other member to the friends list. Before long you’ll find you have a list of players to choose from to form a party of five for dungeons.

This is not a argument for all people. Why you have to force people to play in a big guild? Many people likes to play in a Mmorpg in a single player style, if you want to play with a lot of different people: join a big guild. If you like to play alone but in a open world like Gw2 bring a system with Heroes. Everybody happy.

congrats, here is a cookie some don’t have a guild nor do they have a desire to be in a guild. I personally would like to see Heroes for dungeons.

Because of problems with the language (writing through translator), I can not create a squad of players! In the old game, I can easily play with Heroes and Mercenaries.
