Please add a report option for player griefing. The closest option to this is spamming, which I’ve used it for on many occasions – except that they’re not spamming.

I’m not even entirely sure that griefing is against TOS, but it should be given that the game is designed so that players on a server work together instead of against each other.

The kinds of things I’m referring to:
- Intentionally kiting mobs onto a player to get them killed.
- Following a player around with a mariners horn or choir bell playing a single note repeatedly.
- Repeatedly casting AOE swiftness on players before they make a jump in a jumping puzzle to make them miss.
- Following a player’s small character around with a large character so the player can’t see their own character.
- Endlessly running circles around a player wherever they go.

Blocking a player solves none of these issues, the only option is to port out of the area to get away from them.

Dude just TP somewhere else… If it bothers you that much switch to a new server. Or don’t take these things so seriously. I have never ran into any of these problems at all and if I did it shouldn’t matter so much to going to reporting them unless their cheating or exploiting.

The only thing there that is a real issue is also impossible to tell if it is griefing: swiftness on jumping puzzles. Unfortunetly, as much as I’d happily drill their knee caps with power tools if I could be certain they were doing it intentionally, there is no way to tell.

Everything else: grow up. “Mooommmmm! He’s making faces again!”

Just go afk for a 5minutes. Grab a drink, take a leak, etc.

When you get back, they’ll most likely be gone. Nothing spoils a troll’s fun like being ignored

I don’t think you know what griefing is/means. No matter what a game is designed to do, people will find ways to make people like you whine and cry.

And what’s the problem with that? Is that not what you do to someone who’s bothering you but causing you no physical or mental damage? You simply avoid them. If it is one person doing it continually, you submit a report/ticket.

That hasn’t worked for months. They patched it so the chest interation will take priority to the portal.

Further suggestion:

As a way to police it, if a player racked up so many griefing reports on them in a certain length of time a gm could go invisibly watch what the player was doing to see if they were indeed doing nothing but causing other players intentional grief. There should also be a description box to explain what it is the player in question is doing.

Maybe you should try sucking it up? I mean, seriously, what you’re talking about is barely what I call griefing. It’s only called that because you allow someone to annoy you with something that is not hindering you playing the game and is extremely trivial.

I 100% agree with this.

It makes little sense to argue “just go away for a while or leave the map” for griefing, but still banning people over verbal abuse. You can just as well remove yourself from the game to dodge verbal abuse.

(Even less of an argument as you can block someone from chat, but not from the game.)

But as a paying customer you have the right to play the game on your own schedule, without fleeing bullies, and certainly without paying money for a server transfer (especially as that won’t even protect you from someone who decides to follow you around – thanks to the non-existent contact list privacy settings).

Just place it a bit further from the chest than you used to. As soon as people see that “F” activation GUI item appear, they instinctively hit it

My favourite is a really simple one at Golem Mark II.
Place Portal Entre in front of the chest, then run past it over the small drop behind it and place the exit. The confusion is visible as people try to work out where they are.

Yesterday, when I was about to manage UW survive of total wipe on EB, some troll show’d up and tried to demolarise the whole squad.
There was a funny moment when they even tried to slice our zerg with their commander emblems… sad, but these players existing. Reported them for “Verbal Abuse”, because they tried to ruin the fun of everyone else…

I even encounter with the same team right here, when they try to ruin my suggestions, and downwoting/reporting my youtube videos…

See, just as someone reported my post in this thread you can already make a report to ANet about any other player or their actions. If they don’t think you’re being childish or have no way to police said “griefer”, they will handle it. This is not constant harassment we’re talking about, this is a player running around your character is circles. If you seriously cannot learn to ignore that or use the tools you are already given, then I may suggest you take a time out from the game.

Grow up? I’m a 32 year old man. I learned a long time ago not to put up with pointless harassment from people. I ignore the griefers for the most part – I understand that’s how some people have their fun. But someone childishly griefing other players repeatedly, over and over and over, is going to get a report out of me. I’ve only done this a couple of times for over-the-top scenarios throughout almost 2500 hours of gameplay in gw2, though I’ve had to give suggestions many times to other players on what to do when this stuff happens to them. Generally the suggestion is to just port out – but sometimes that’s not enough to solve the problem, especially when witnessing it happening to multiple other players by the same griefer over an extended course of time.

I feel it’s not right to not be able to submit a report of the proper kind from inside the game – it’s not fair to the gm’s to get reports that aren’t quite correct, and it’s not fair to the players in question to be reported for spamming/verbal abuse when that’s not what it is that they’re doing.

I totally understand what you are saying there, and for me it sounds like cry cry.

You sound like u been playen games for a long time. Then you should be use to this its in every game. Some people play for pve some for pvp some to just socialize and theres the other that like messen with people.

What one person might consider griefing another might not, and visa versa.

What gives a person the right to disrupt the enjoyment on others for their own personal amusement?

While I personally think this is a good idea, I can see the potential for abuse.

Yeah, this is the bigger issue, especially with new players.
About a month after release I even saw a player ranting at people who were supposedly stealing his kills and mining nodes.
If that player had access to a grief report, it would needlessly take up a support rep’s time, although it would give them plenty of laughs.

It’s really disheartening how many people attack the person who doesn’t want to be griefed instead of the griefers. Grow up? Just go away? Pay real money for a server transfer (where there will also be griefers)? What the hell, people. No one should have to put up with others being infantile kittens to them. And no guild worth joining would tolerate it in its members.

“Griefing” should definitely be a category in the report function, and I’m also confused why “exploiting” isn’t one either. “Spamming” is, and that’s less severe and more easily dealt with than griefing.
