I wonder how the weekdays will affect scoring. In the past few days (including today), DB is relatively strong compared to FA/CD starting 8am EST. On Saturday, FA took the potential point lead back right before 4pm EST. On Sunday, 12pm EST.

FA hasn’t taken it back yet and the fact that our NA players can’t play all day like on the weekends won’t help. This seems to be the only span of time DB is able to make gains against FA. Who is playing right now? Asians? Europeans?

I just noticed that wall is fully upgraded. That isn’t from last night. We’re talking about two different battles. Last night we had tier 1 wall upgrade and no door upgrade.

umm no, the outer gate has been down for well over two hours, I know because I logged off at 3am or I risk oversleeping and missing work.

There was a try to take down south keep gate, then trebbing/cata which we wiped with a treb on the inside, then third time around you built trebs farther back so we can’t take them out.

So yes, the timestamp is wrong because the Bay battle was a long kitten one.

Is it simply possible that there was more than one attempt on Bay? :P

LOL derision? No, CD didn’t have it “out” for FA, much as you like to think. IoJ were the ones that posted the most for the 2nd and third week because they thought t3 was going to be theirs for the foreseeable future.

Once CD took 1st place the hate started. And it culminated in Fort Janthir. I’m pretty sure most of us could care less who we fight.

Perhaps, but the turnaround happens at 8am EST which is 2pm (or 1400 if you prefer) in Europe. It is very late in Asia now so maybe DB has stronger Asian and European populations.

Only bad part was that a bunch of us DB left our Hills keep in our BL to come defend the one in CD. So we lost a keep to FA, but held on to an upgraded one. Not enough forces to do both.

And it’s so frustrating to run from our garrison to hills to help defend against FA, only to run into 5 CD cutting off reinforcements. Maybe they were intentionally helping FA, maybe they had no clue why we were going to Hills, maybe they were just out having fun, but it was frustrating none the less.

Yep, it looks like CD will be tier 4 next week. kitten #8230; that means we have to go against Kain. On the bright side, once Kain and SBI switch positions I think we should be relativley dominant in tier 4.

Had a fun fight against an FA mesmer inside Hills today in our BL. I’m assuming she was going to hide and I caught her on the icy bridge. Sorry I couldn’t give back as good as you were doing, but trying to fight a mesmer, not fall off the bridge and type for help in chat was too much. Anywhere else I’d go 1v1, but inside the keep is too big of a risk to not call in help.

This was like the 5th post within a few hours from CD complaining about how boring and easy T3 is and how FA is going to get pushed into T4. Luckily, I’m clairvoyant so I quoted one of the posts for easy reach. I think there is a reason none of the servers CD has played against in the last two months likes them. You guys are a pleasure to fight in WvW, but your forum warriors are just a pain. Not trying to stir things up, I just didn’t want the “woe is me” people on CD to forget why they don’t have many fans right now. Put a lid on a few of your posters and I think everyone would be pretty happy.

It’s nice to fight halfskilled thieves that aren’t abusing culling, and I’ve noticed far, far less culling thieves in tier 3 than I did back in tier 4. (Maybe just a coincidence, but I don’t mind)

I believe that was me, thanks they definitely were good fights, I’m still trying to fix the build and have to replace some of my gear so maybe next time I meet you on the battlefield it’ll be a closer fight.

Fort Aspenwood’s Recent History: An Objective Point of View

The Bad Blood between Crystal Desert and Fort Aspenwood/Isle of Janthir:

The bad blood between the two servers started in the early weeks of the tier 3 matchup when Isle of Janthir came into tier 3. After 1-2 weeks of fighting, a specific guild from CD (which I will not name here), began accusing FA of double teaming them. When IoJ fell to second place, this same guild decided they wanted payback on FA and routinely attacked the borderland—their forum warriors berating the server publicly.

Last week, IoJ and FA were both on the cusp of falling down a tier due to Dragonbrand’s stalwart success in tier 4. FA and IoJ fought desperately to take second place to secure their continued existence in tier 3. The fights were good, and mutual respect on the forums kept it civil.

Fearing defeat, a number of FA guilds got together and decided to do a Thursday night ‘push’. They collected on a community teamspeak server (mostly abandoned for months) to finally get some cross-guild organization on the server.

That same night, before the offensive began, we received word that many IoJ guilds were jumping over to Kaineng—but some of our rivals decided to come join FA. Our Thursday night push became a celebration and retribution on CD for their past forum trolls. Since most of the guilds on IoJ that were transferring to FA were going to be oceanic, we decided to show our new oceanic partners what their North American presence could do.

The Isle of Janthir transfers—again—were met with the same derision as to be expected from the same forum warriors that accused FA of double teaming in the first place, leaving a bad taste in everyone’s mouth about the overall server attitude at CD (although many others from CD were very friendly, it did little to offset the loud voices of these forum warriors)

The Fort Aspenwood Community Reform:

So now there’s a very active community teamspeak server which has just started up again. The WvW community in FA started literally last week. Up until that point, it had just been several different guilds working different timezones completely independently. The IoJ transferred guilds moved over to the community teamspeak channel and immediately started to help build this brand new community.

Fort Aspenwood is no longer the same server it was last week. The influx of new guilds/players is coming to join us because we’re not an ‘old guy’ server. There are no bullies on the block, or clear community leaders. This is, in all respects, a brand new server. New names and faces show up in teamchat every day—and it gives everyone an opportunity to be a part of something different. Something fresh.

The Future:

Fort Aspenwood has great coverage across most of the timezones. In fact, it’s gotten to the point where queues are a regular thing (This is a new thing for us). I am not trying to argue that Fort Aspenwood has become ‘elite’, and I definitely don’t want to count our eggs before they hatch, but I firmly believe that the way things are headed—Fort Aspenwood is on their way to tier 2. We had some great fights with CD/IoJ and I foresee many more for Dragonbrand. I hope this squabble isn’t leaving a bad impression on DB—as you guys definitely belong in this tier.

In 2 weeks, I foresee this tier stabilizing, and the fights will get far better.

That was quite a bit after our matchup started. In fact that’s from a couple of days ago. Flying Chicken was saying how CD was badmouthing FA for a long time. He is in fact one of those forum warriors.

Classic Prisoner’s Dilemma. Why should DB trust CD to not attack them while they focus on FA? If DB did that, CD has more to gain by attacking DB. It looks like they already don’t trust you guys, lol.

The goal of sending FA to T4 is probably more valued by CD players than DB players anyway. They just want to stay in the tier and they already have a good chance to do that.

It’s kind of hard when we’re defending from a constant 50 man FA zerg in our BL.

And last night we pushed towards hills, they had 50 in that map on our side only. Not sure on Bay side because DB came out and was wiped right away.

So the amount of people they have now is making something like that hard, fighting a 4 pronged attack as it is, opening up a new front puts us in an even worse situation.

I’m happy that we try to maintain a queue for our BL first, EB second, and whatever else next.

As one of the Crystal Desert commander that was part of the re-taking of Shadaran Hills, I would like to thank every single Dragonbrand player that was defending for the past few days. You made some of us argue, stressed up and going overtime on the last piece in our borderland but you lads made us learn, coordinate better as a server and learn from our mistakes in both attacking and defending.

As for the fight just now, props goes to NNK, you all were such a torn.

I mean,
If the scores ended right now, DB is in second and would still be the ones dropped a tier.

But yeah, we’re pretty much fighting over who stays in tier 3.
(I would honestly not mind going back to tier 4 for a week so we can kitten with Kaineng, I don’t believe they’re as scary as other servers seem to think)

RET hasn’t spent a lot of time fighting DB yet, but so far in the CD borderland this past weekend, we’ve only come to know a few guild names.

Still, thought I’d mention them here as a shoutout to DB: [WAR] and [EA] so far are pretty formidable adversaries.

FA was actually being quite cooperative, I partied a couple of them and had a nice chat, dueled one of them, hung around.

And don’t mistake my post as being offended, JP camping is part of wvw and I kind of enjoy the challenge when it happens, as well as the fun of camping it myself from time to time

Have you tried to take FA’s hills recently? They have people just sitting there waiting, and can throw out a 50 man defense group without batting an eyelash. FA’s hills won’t fall unless both servers put pressure on them from both sides, because their population is just too great (and their dedication ain’t too bad either!).

If only CD would be so kind and let us hold on to their Bay >.<

People in DB, please tell your friends in your borderlands that 5 minutes ago tried to exploit their way in hills wth mesmer that its not cool. We are having a blast here, no need to spoil it.

Every server have their turn camping the JP. I personnaly don’t approve of it, especially in our current match since we need every able body on the field (hint hint fellow CD players :P). So don’t think see CD as a JP camping server. I assure you we are not….not during my play time at least lol.

I have to say though, so far this week, I haven’t seen any DB in there…like 0, no campers, no one even doing it…might not be playing at the same hours lol and I don’t spend much time in there

If you want a memory then go back 3 months ago and see all the trash being flung by IoJ and their ‘never going to transfer, we are the T1 gatekeepers’ propaganda.

FA is lucky that transfers are getting locked down otherwise they’d feel the jump ship blues too.

In a way I’m glad people hate CD like “80s rich kids” because it means all the fair weathered players won’t come and ruin our tried and tested community.

There’s a big difference between those types of posts. Of course IoJ’s posters wrote those things at that time they were rallying their server. They did (and I’m sure continue to) believe in their server at the time and what is was capable of doing. After those posts, some of their larger guilds left, which undermined the overall server. When the facts change, people’s opinions change. Anyone with a quarter of a brain is going to post supporting themes for their server when they are trying to rally around it.

The posts from CD were just….arrogant and immature. You guys finally got into first place (thanks to transfers by the way) and immediately started acting like you’d been there forever and it was no problem. You guys posted yawns and comments about being sssooooo bored, screen shots of idle golems, talk of controlling the match to dictate what tiers competitors would be placed into. It was borderline schizo.

So yeah, people trying to rally their server. I understand. People that finally claw their way into first and then act like eternal pampered princesses – not so understandable. As a I said before, maybe you should consider why every server you’ve played against for the last few months can’t stand you. I’ll give you a hint, it wasn’t because you won.

Anyway, I’m done on that subject. Anyone that’s curious can just read the match threads. Your guys’ words speak for themselves.

Yep, we’re the biggest thread of the week. Next up is T2. Their first thread got closed a couple of hours after reset, lol. Third is T5 (the Kaineng tier).

The issue is that it was those larger guilds saying those things. One day its ‘we are the best’ the next day free transfers are ending and that belief is put to the test, and they bailed. I do not judge the smaller guilds that left at all.

You are thinking of a battle later in the night. I was a part of both sieges actually and neither were 3 hours. The BT and RET siege in the video was early in the evening on a fully upgraded bay with waypoint and all.

It’s an event run by the DOLY guild that will invariably be the catalyst of increased rage and discontent between servers, and as a result increase the probability of this thread being locked by 20-30%.

There has been more complaining from CD players in 3 days of being outmanned then there has been from FA players in 9 weeks of being outmanned. Stop complaining and fight harder and then maybe more people will want to play on your server.

Being from Isle of Janthir I really enjoyed FA as opponents. Now that I am part of Isle of Aspenwood I’ve really liked how all inclusive the community is. AVTR and PRO were working flawlessly yesterday together as we went and took hills in one of the BLs. These are all people that want to work together and like doing it. On a side note i’ve only been fighting DB for a few days and I’ve also enjoyed the fights against them. You guys are well organized for the number of players you’ve got and you’re always showing up with quick reaction times.

On a side note, I went to sleep after countless failed attempts at taking back hills thanks to the constant 50 man FA zerg in our BL. I woke up seeing our BL all green. To the ones who took back hills, you guys are awesome.

Someone from FA danced on the corpse of my level 24 warrior today, after I stood there and let them kill me (Who am I going to beat at level 24? I can barely kill sentries). Some people have no class.
