1/18/13 CD/FA/DB
My guild and I(Dragonbrand), figured coming into this match-up that CD would be crushing us, having won the prior week. To this end we(and a lot of other Dragonbrand fighters) went into CD bl at reset, seized that Hills keep, and kept it for three days. Had we realized the extent of the power-shift due to IoJ>FA transfers we might have rethought our strategy and tried to take and hold a foothold in FA bl. We never expected it to work so well, and if it served as some sort of catalyst to start a collapse of the CD wvw scene I am sorry.
To my fellow Dragonbrand fighters we now have a choice. Fight hard, focus CD exclusively and we might stay in Tier 3 next week. Or we can relax, take second place with the margin we have, and fall to Tier 4.
If we stay in Tier 3 we will be fighting FA and Maguuma. In that match-up I think we will take third, but it will be a good hard fight from all sides. If we fall to Tier 4 we will fight Kaineng and YB. And Kaineng will smash us, but we’ll still take second place easily over YB. I know, many of you will disagree with that assessment. But you’re wrong. Kaineng can field queues in all four maps, they can keep queues in 1-2 maps 24/7. DB can’t come close to those numbers.
This is particularly important because it will be the last three days before paid server transfers go active. I think it will be better for Dragonbrand morale and keep people’s spirits higher to stay in Tier 3 and fight a rough, but solid match-up against FA and MAG, rather than be steamrolled by Kaineng.
So get in WvW, and pressure CD until the end of this match-up.
When you say, “along with a lot of other Dragonbrand fighters”, do you mean Warsworn leading the siege on hills and the only ones dropping siege and running supply to defend it?
Kinda like we did again last night.
You seriously care about siege? haha wow dude. We drop siege all the time, I’m not going to drop siege if we have 0 supply.
And we also run supply and even more by extracting dolyaks to Keeps and Towers.

Looking around the WvW boards, it looks like the only server that’s not having population changes this week is Dragonbrand. Kinda odd for us, really, given our history.
I think what’s likely to ultimately end up happening over the next couple months is that both DB and CD will find tier 4 to be our new homes.
Unless it turns out that the mass armies of Kaineng are all noobs and pre-80s, they will likely overtake us in ratings whether we face them ourselves or not.
With Maguuma and Kaineng both going up to at least tier 3, that will require two servers to go down to tier 4 to make room; DB and CD being most likely to fill that spot.
I don’t really see this as a bad thing, tier 4 will just become a more competitive tier than it was in the past. I don’t mind CD as an opponent.
I hope Yak’s Bend gets some transfers in or something and they stay competitively in tier 4 with us. CD/DB/YB would be a pretty nice match.
I think that says more that you’re not seen as being anything other than a normal server. Meaning you guys are making waves, just not in a way that makes anybody want to join or leave. That’s an achievement in my book.

I am from CD and I am seeing this mass exodus personally. Its WvW some times we win sometimes we lose that’s life. This particular week we aren’t doing to great big deal. So we are losing this week and free server transfers are available word goes out lets change servers so we can be instant winners, problem solved, right. The same things your running away from here you will find where your going.
We got a commander runs around nude yelling balls deep every min, real inspirational (albeit funny), wondered why were losing and left with his guild. Then another great commander left that will be sorely missed, he was known for dropping 20 golems a lot and overkill siege works.
Its not to late to come back.

Well, we never did any recruiting either, so it could be that folks just aren’t really seeing us and those that are already here see no reason to leave. Either way, I’m cool with it.

At this point, it is for the free transfers. It takes a week before you can transfer again, so if somebody transferred on the 21st, they can’t come back without paying for it.

Just to clarify we got the guild transfers on the Thursday, day before reset. You guys were just out in much larger numbers on reset and ran out of steam from my point of view, my theory is a lot of it was just a psychological thing. As a generous estimate we received between 50-70 active wvw players spread across 2 timezones.
I do understand your frustration, trust me, I’ve been there. We have all experienced “unbalanced matchups” but this is really quite far from an extreme example (Look at the two tiers below us!) and in my mind, the point gap at the end of this match up doesn’t even really justify the drama from some people on all sides. We were stomped by almost 400k points by Blackgate 2.0, I figure it’s better to maintain a healthy server morale by dusting yourself off and getting back into the community to get people riled up to fight. Just a word to the wise and I’m not singling you out.

DB I think you guys might end up in tier 3 again by the looks of SBI’s exodus of guilds but only time will tell. Until friday keep up the push we want to play against you guys again and FA I know you guys will have tricks for us as always seems like so long ago that even though we lost we learned so much. Crystal Desert I wish you guys the best of luck whether you end up staying with Maguuma and FA in tier 3 or the first ones to help put the stop on Kaineng’s karma train.
Next week will be good nonetheless. FA if you guys spank us just remember you’ll get a lot of fair weather players and we’ll find out which new guilds will stay with us. As far as I’ve seen we have at least 7 new guild faces showing up including some oceanic players.
Not to derail you guys or anything but keep up the good fight until friday at reset time.

Now,
I acknowledge from the start of this post that what I’m saying are outside observations.
You may have started receiving guilds on thursday before reset,
But I think the bulk of the transfers came in over the weekend.
There was such an increase in FA’s effectiveness in wvw by the end of the weekend that it could not be something as simple as “We had more on reset and ran out of steam”. Especially since I can tell you that DB generally picks up steam during the week, we’re very used to starting matches in 3rd place and then picking up to 1st on Monday/Tuesday.
I’m not complaining about your transfers, I’m just saying that it seems very obvious that many of the transfers were still happening after the match began. As long as the tiers balance in a couple weeks, I really don’t care where DB ends up. WvW is fun when it’s a balanced match, not when you’re up in tier 1.
I think what’s likely to ultimately end up happening over the next couple months is that both DB and CD will find tier 4 to be our new homes.

I was unaware there was another major guild exodus in the upper tiers other than IoJ, who’ve already fallen below us, and whatever guilds have bled from CD.
If SBI suffered that much of a blow, yeah, we’ll probably end up resting in tier 3 for a while.

Although we still have 32 hours left in the matchup, I have a message for whoever ends up in T4, whether it be Dragonbrand or Crystal Desert (since at this point, it could easily be either one).
Give them hell. A good chunk of Kaineng is overconfident and needs their bubbles burst. Show them what a real fight is like. If they beat you, then we know they are actually a real army.
Score of this please?

FA has a similar history in score development, where we pick up steam as the week goes along.. we had a few great comebacks where we made up 30k or more over the course of the last few days of the matchup.
I’ll admit we have had another few guilds join us over the past week, but the bulk of the transfers that are visible to me in WvW came before the reset.
More interesting is that with the arrival of our new friends guilds both old and new to the server seem to be cooperating a lot more then before.
T3 will belong to Maguuma

T3 will belong to Maguuma and T4 will be owned by Kaineng next week. I don’t think it will be much fun for any natural T3/T4 server for the next few weeks unless getting run over by zergs is enjoyable. After the dust settles it is possible that servers like CD end up in T5.
CD will have to hemorrhage a lot more guilds to belong in tier 5.
The competition level is so drastically different between tiers 3 and 5.

Well, after reading some of the post of wanting DB to sit back and willingly drop down to t4 i have to disagree. Krew for one will not sit back and drop. We are a WvW focused guild and thats all we do. Doesnt matter if we only have a 5man grp or a 30man grp we will be in WvW win or lose giving the other 2 servers hell(in this case this week Defending our borderlands). We will go all out and where we end up for our tier is where we end up at least we knw we gave it our best. Once we found out Astral was fixed last night Edgar asked us to dolyak escort to hills to get it upgraded! it was great, soo many pushes FA made to the dolyaks i believe the guild tag was HIRE or HERO? sorry i forget but it was great fights all night and we managed to save every dolyak! idc if we drop to t4 and fight kaineng. we as a server will make them work hard if they want that win!
Leader/Driver of Krew/MR
Maguuma and Kaineng are hot transfer servers right now and are getting an influx of solid WvW guilds so it will be no surprise to me when FA cannot hold them in check.
I believe your assertion is wrong. Maguuma will put up a great fight, but FA is growing exponentially – not just in numbers (we could use some more numbers), but as well in coordination, skill, and tactics.
Maguuma, in no way, has next week in the bag.

Latest projection as of 20 min ago on mos: CD will be going to T4. If they are going through an exodus, the match with Kaineng will not help at all. DB could probably hold them off better (and win if Kaineng’s strength is being overrated).

I’ve stated that I wouldn’t mind going back to tier 4,
But I have no intention of just giving up and letting us fall down.
We should be in the tier we belong in, and if we fight all week and stay in tier 3, then that is where we belong
I have no doubts about kaineng’s strength being overrated, not when they have made threads such as saying they are the next T1 powerhouse.
The question is how much is it overrated, not if it is.

I don’t pretend to be speaking for all of [EA] or DB, but I certainly will not be hoping for us to move down a tier. I want the toughest competition every week, and I want to play to win (fairly, of course).
The thing I love about Dragonbrand is that we show up every week, no matter what, and play to win, have fun, and improve all the time. We can do that because we don’t have an inter-guild or inter-server drama and our recent transfers all support these themes.

Once again, everyone except people from Maguuma think Maguuma is a powerhouse. T4 is a dead server plus yaks who doesn’t exactly brim with organization. Next week FA will win, making them the new t2, and bringing sbi to t3.
CD will probably lose to Kaineng and hang in t4 for a bit. Kaineng actually IS a powerhouse and has stupid amounts of players 24/7. A bit more people and they’re sporting 4 queued maps at prime time, 2 night time.

I dunno, i feel like you guys are giving DB less credit then they deserve, i consider them an equal force, it might not be in numbers at all times, but they do have a good coverage and definitely have a great fighting spirit.
We have been hammering them, took there Overlook on EB several times, and they just keep coming back, they simply do not give up.

When you say, “along with a lot of other Dragonbrand fighters”, do you mean Warsworn leading the siege on hills and the only ones dropping siege and running supply to defend it?
Kinda like we did again last night.
Peace, no slight on Warsworn was intended. Without you guys we would not have taken Hills at reset. But then again without everyone else there we would not have taken it either. Which is why it was decided at the server meeting the night before reset that we would do it together. There is more than enough glory to go around for everyone. One team, one fight.
As to the rest, I dropped eight arrowcarts, 2 catas, 2 ballistas personally during the first few hours in Hills. More after the map crashed. More during the next few days. As to running supply and guarding dolyaks. Both NNK and TFV had groups in CD bl doing that for more than 12 hours after reset, as did WE and others. And as far as defending it, basically everyone on DB who regularly WvWs saved that keep at one time or another. Name a commander, or guild, they were there at some point.
The whole server can take pride in that achievement.

Just last week you were in first place in Tier 3. One week of losing isn’t reason enough to transfer.
I do not think losing was a factor with any of the guilds that have left.
Oh I think it is. Most definitely.
They rose through the ranks really fast, owned crap in Tier 3 for a bit, and then lose one week.

I wouldn’t say it’s a collapse. The bandwagoning is expected. It’s just that CD’s offer isn’t as enticing as some of the other servers. I actually think facing Kaineng is still better, as it’s easy to deflect blame towards Kaineng zerging than anything else. And when Kaineng rises to T3 the week after, someone will have to come down. If DB is confident that they’re ahead of maguuma, definitely try to stick to T3.
The answer is simple. We just play like how we normally play, the DB way. We do our best and wherever it takes us it takes us. In the end we can say that we tried our best and stand proud of it.
Can’t wait on Friday, DB is gonna be so depress
Why would we be? We have guilds still joining us, nobody is leaving. This is a good indicator that people are happy here. We don’t care if we drop to tier 4 or if we remain in tier 3. We are happy to put up a good fight wherever it be.

As much of the FA wvw population can attest to, we aren’t a stranger to large enemy zergs like Maguuma supposedly has, and personally most of us (myself especially) are looking for to the bags that come with large zergs. Remember all we need is a choke point and superior ballista to start farming . As for next week’s matchup I’m looking for to DB and Maguuma because the fights should be fun and hopefully the forums more civil since this tier became the Grudge Tier with TC and CD.

To be honest, I’m not sure on the gameplan, but it seems like my server is TRYING to get taken down to T4 so DB will stay in T3, and so you guys at FA are more likely to jump to T2 within the next 2 weeks so we can fight people who aren’t on all the time. Because to be honest, not only is it disheartening to fight a server that NEVER has a downtime compared to ours, it’s also not fun, since we can’t surprise you, we can’t catch you off guard, we can’t even sneeze without a large group of your guys appearing. You’re everywhere at this point, and I think our server would rather go down a tier or get you up a tier just so we can go back to having fun matches.
Because before you suddenly got all those massive guilds Sunday, the score in the beginning was so close and the fights were so fun that EVERYBODY wanted to be there, EVERYBODY wanted to fight, EVERYBODY wanted to experience that close rush. I don’t really want to rehash the past, but I do want to remind you that last week the match was not close. FA lost to CD by nearly 80k. I’m sure if was a lot of fun for you guys, but that’s probably about 20k or so less than we’ll win by this week so pretty similar point spread – just a flip-flop on the point accrual.

Wha..wha..what? He said last week it was fun because it was close and this week was no fun because it’s not close. I added an objective fact. My bad.
It was close in the beginning and had the potential to stay close if IOJ hadn’t fell apart. FA managed to get the same score they had for the previous 2 weeks which were much more competitive.
Updated list of guilds currently on Crystal Desert, staying or coming:

Obviously, there are TONS of guilds not listed on there. I’m adding them as they are confirmed to me.
Mass exodus? I think not.
CD and DB are pretty tight together to see who remains in tier 3 next week.
I think [RET] is very likely going to be in DB BL today assuming queues don’t suck. Not because we hate you… in fact, we love you. Fighting you guys is way more fun.

That doesn’t make much sense then seeing how this week is pretty much over. If you attack us now you give CD a chance to stay in tier 3 and be boring for a whole nother week. Meanwhile fighting CD for the next day and a half and leaving DB alone for the most part assures a fun week between Maguuma FA and DB next week. Just saying
lolol
It’s ok, you shouldn’t be worried that FA will attack you. Otherwise you will hate next week. No matter WHO is in the tier.
a lot of people will be disappointed they are not it.
