I do agree with the idea of being able to build siege at spawn — at least on borderlands. I don’t think it makes sense to allow that on BG because of the proximity to the keep. However, maybe that would be fine to keep things interesting when one server is dominating.

The problem is what makes sense in a match when your being steam rolled vs a match where the battle is even. Having siege where it cannot be reached is fine in a match like this, they can use the help. Having it when the battle is even would give a huge advantage to the defenders of a BL. Perhaps that isn’t a bad thing, but hard to balance I think.

I wouldn’t be opposed to areas on each citadel that is physically inaccessible to the enemy, but still vulnerable to range attacks where defenders could set up siege, but only so they could reach the two towers and north supply camp, but not the garrison.

Please stop blaming spawn camping. If me and my [UO] crew, a crew of [AĆ­] guild members and a ton of random people can bounce out and cap half of the GoM borderlands by zerg capping faster than they can be taken back by Yak’s, I’d say suck it up. There is more than one exit, and we took a different one. Didn’t see a single Yak’s player until we started assaulting a tower.

Having siege at the main bases (fixed with no cost) will really make it intense if there is a pop imbalance. At this point it isn’t a challenge for the spawn campers and all the challenge and frustration lies with the underpopulated server.

This would balance it out and make unbalanced fights into something fun and challenging to both sides.

Shout out to you guys. Some guild leaders and myself are trying to get things going on this end. We realize this match up is lost, but it doesn’t mean we can’t make some things happen.

Don’t look at the score, it’s stupid and unbalanced. Taking/defending towers and having skirmishes is what draws me into WvW.

I do not participate in spawn camping and as soon as we drive the invaders back to their spawn gate, I (and my guild) backs off and runs off to do something else and allow you guys to come out and play.

I see most (the regular famous names on our server) commanders do the same thing and call it out in /map and /team chats to the PUGs to pull back. I don’t think you would see major YB guilds spawn camp your areas. Feel free to zerg the pugs though and drive them back.

I’ll see you at Woodhaven though (or whatever that tower closest to your Citadel is)

Downed me first, then I downed him. Was going to be a tight finish, I think I was getting up first, just not sure I would have finished you off in time and you had all your kit still up. I wish people would quit attributing the massive score difference to being because of numbers and not skill. In case you haven’t discovered this already, good servers win because they have a large active WvW population AND the necessary skill to coordinate those numbers. Yak’s Bend has both of them, as should be quite obvious. We have plenty of players that WvW. The problem is the large majority of them quit as soon as we aren’t winning, or the second we don’t own anything on the map. Losing should be even MORE incentive to join the fight and turn things around. If people would realize this, then we would have even numbers on the battlefield and perhaps we’d be able to prove that we are truly the better server.

And, if you are from Yaks’ Bend, please do not attack GoM/SF who are feasting on these bots. These bots are doing Yak’s Bend a disservice in a number of ways, not the least of which is filling up those spots and making real players have to queue. Let’s all work together to push these lowlifes out of WvW and ensure they make minimal to no gold on their gold farming exploits in WvW.

I’ve been taking full advantage of this. Unfortunately, that job is made tougher by a select few players who choose to farm alongside these bots, and even go as far as defending and reviving them. If any YB player notices players performing such actions, I suggest you attempt to discourage them from helping a problem that negatively affects us all. Additionally, I know for a fact I’ve accidentally reported players as bots due to them hanging out with the bots. Not until they decided to chase me out of the lake from the middle of the bot pile did I realize I made a mistake. It would be rather unfortunate if many of these accidental reports led to some negative side effects for these players.

Bots are becoming a huge problem. Last night i logged into SF borderland when a call was made to alliance garrison was being hit hard. The map had a que. Once I arrived I saw 15 yaks players fighting between 30 to 35 SF players. During the course of the batyle i noticed swords up on quaggan. Since I had just ported in from getting supplies I jumped off the vista to check it out and was shocked to see 50+ bots pulling and farming krait. Started reporting. This kind of crap is going to ruin WvW faster than any bug.

etsmith, I have been reporting YB bots in WvW forever, still see the same names pop up every day. I have them on my friends list. The quagen’s farm is very annoying and hard to take down for the regular pug group. 20-30 bots attacking you with #1 at the same time kills you quick.

And ya, I couldn’t get in to SF last night, was queued for a while.

Wouldn’t get too kitteny about it, AR has some decent PvPers. I had much better fights against them with no orbs, then Yak with 3 orbs. They half decently organized as well, just lack numbers.

I have the understanding that orbs cannot be taken from their alters by friendlies. However, just five minutes ago on Sorrow’s borderland Yak Bend was able to transfer their orb from the Garrison to the keep next to their spawn.

Tried to make my way over to screenshot some guild tags, but was too far away.

A couple of us guilds on Yaks are actually wondering what is going on as well. We did not want the orb to be moved but our altars are breaking and not respawning. We’re not sure why but worried if the last altar does we’ll lose the orb for no apparent reason.

believe me, it was not our intention to move the orb further from our spawn to a less upgraded keep with no supply. (it is actually next to GOM’s spawn, not ours)

I was first to respond and only found a broken altar with the orb next to it and npc guards still up. Our only available alter was EH so got an escort and brought it there. While I dont mind since we have 1 day left of this circuit the issue of not being able to repair Altars seems kinda important to WvW…

Unfortunately the last 2 days they seem to still be running full steam. If they are playing during reset .. all games are going to find huge que times while trying to get players into the various borderands.

so far i found them in skritt area where they are all following the same figure 8 pattern.

Ok thanks for the in game pms and responses here ITT. Guess it must have just been little bugs or what have you that resulted in the alters being broken. That is understandable, I just wanted to make sure that that issue was raised.

I try to add the bots to my normal wvw objectives when hitting camps/supply in small groups. Unfortunately today it seemed like there were a lot more bots, and a lot of Yaks guarding the bots than other days, so my team wasn’t able to get the bot’s operator to rage quit the map. Usually we run into the bot operator trying to defend/res his bots and hunt him down, but this time I am pretty sure that it was your bored spawn campers, deciding to camp for bot hunters. Just an fyi for you guys….. hopefully Anet can put a stop to these ridiculous 1 day free transfers and make it harder for both the WvW bot operators and server hoppers to ruin the balance.

However the “Foo” guild and many others who were camping gates in the GoM borderlands the last couple of nights are the ones who are going to give the Yaks server the reputation of being classless thugs. Ya, I was at the same conclusion last night. We took the northern supply camp last night in SF, ran the defenders into the gate and then everyone just lined up and started exchanging fire.

The defenders in the “safe” zone just stood there. I don’t understand why right away they didn’t port to Citadel and ran out from a different gate, or jump down the cliff to take something else. They saw a lot of YB forces WAY north… so what a better chance to assault something else.

Niim, thanks for the report, I will see if I can track down their leaders and let them know. I personally saw at least 25 botters last night at quagens, but no bot defenders. We actually had a queue to get in last night.

I asked about how you can complain about spawn camping the citadel if you can exit at almost any point. The response was that there is only three ways back ‘inside’. Which makes no sense to me, because they didnt move to use a side exit either, but far as I am concerned this game does not have spawn camping, just stupid people camping.

I don’t believe I EVER went back ‘inside’ the Citidal on purpose. Maybe once or twice driven back from the northern supply camp. That’s what Waypoint is for if you need to repair/sell. Otherwise, die on the battlefield!

We all wish it had been a more evenly matched battle, but there were a lot of extremely talented pvpers on SF and GOM’s side who still gave it their all and put up a good fight where they could while being outnumbered.
