I’m assuming this Sc=(3g-w)/(td+s) to make the grouping more correct.

Yes!!
I also need to find a way to insert a value for the number of times “jp” is called out in area chat.

Remember that SS I posted last week of my 2900~ badges? Well, it’s 3900~ now. Thanks so much SOS and SOR. I only play WvW for five or so hours a day too.
Your bank is so organized. Mine is a mess.
To those getting hurt by the Term PUG. There is nothing negative about it. PUG = “Pick up group” though you may have slightly different ideas of what a pug is in WvW the basic premise is a random grouping of people.
PUGS can be on TS. I’ve had PUGS that all joined the same TS to be slightly more organized. In the end we are still just a random pairing of people that haven’t spent much time together.
Usually I would consider a PUG to be anyone not in my guild but given the nature of WvW it is possible to be grouped with people outside your guild that aren’t a pug. Especially where community TS is concerned. There might be a group you regularly run with that aren’t in your guild but you fight with them enough you know their play style so it’s not really a pug anymore.
Were JQ is concerned they have a very active community TS, or at least used to when I was on the server so I assume they still do. So even their “PUG’s” can be very organized as long as there is someone to lead them. This I believe is part of what has kept them in T1 for so long. Their pugs can be very effective with one decent leader getting them to objectives.
Sanctum of Rall
I was playing in JQ BL last night. Given the numbers you stated, we had quite a bit less than that. The bulk of the pugs you referred to were actually in community TS. In that respect there is very little difference between them and your single guild force apart from the the guild tag above their head. Maybe your single guild might be a bit more proficient with combo field tactics etc due to more practice but alot of those JQ small guilds know that stuff as well. They don’t need the same guild tag above their head to perform it. What you see is a mixed group of guild tags and assume its a bunch of “pugs”., however you want to define that term.
We had folks on scouting and defence and camp flipping/yak running and a mixed strike force running around harassing bay and hills to keep you tied down. We even flipped hills at one point with 10. All organised by TS and chat.
The force you faced on JQ BL was actually quite organised which is why they were doing ok against you despite their limited numbers and keeping you from making alot of progress but because you didn’t see a single guild blob then you assumed it was a bunch of randoms. Don’t worry, all other servers appear to make this mistake.
You are right though, the strategy we were following last night make sense for us. Your home borderland is always predominantly a defensive map.
I have kept away from these boards this match up until now as I could guess exactly what a certain small section of the SoR players would be saying given how T1 match ups play out over a few weeks. Pleased to see that they have not dissapointed me.
Enjoyed fighting Choo in the last 2 weeks. You run a solid show for sure.
You know, I never realized that the word “pugs” carried with it such a negative connotation for you and some others in the community. I merely use it for any mass of players that are not under one guild regardless of if they are in TS or not. In fact, if we had a group of 3-4 Choo, and TW, and CDS, and TWL, and GSCH, and UL, etc… I would still call that a “pug” group by definition of the term.
I won’t comment on the numbers, I didn’t sit and count them, and I sometimes overestimate when looking there because I think it’s better to overestimate than under when scouting wouldn’t you say?
I will say that it honestly saddens me that because I used that one term that you automatically labeled me as someone that thinks the opposing players to be unskilled and uncoordinated even in the light of my post complimenting your group of players for having “sound strategy”. Nowhere in my post was I even slightly derogatory to your players nor did I mean to be. They did a perfect job in forcing us into some difficult decisions which I outlined in the rest of my post.
I appreciate you sticking me in that “small section of SoR” because of that one word. I guess that’s the reason I stopped paying much attention to these forums ever since we left T2. No matter what you say or do, someone is always hurt in some way.
If I insulted you in some way, I had no intention of doing so, but I would appreciate you giving some the benefit of the doubt on these forums instead of jumping to conclusions. A lot of people get defensive here which in turn causes a ton of unnecessary drama.
All I am here to do is read this while at work, and have fun in WvW when I’m at home. Guess I just need to find something else to do…like work…gasp.

Heheh. My guild was in charge of JQ BL last night from 5pm pst to 12pm pst (and Jael!) There were 12 of us with 3 pins. We were the only organized guild presence on the map. JQ “pugs” as you call them, were actually just our normal JQ community ’Boyz in TS.
So in organized guild #’s you outnumbered us by 5 to 1. Our map was completely green by 10ish PST.
Your whole server team was also wiped open field N of the NW tower, before SoR logged off and handed over bay without resistance.
GG’s though, but our hand played out to well for you last night. I had alot of fun dueling the 3 sos/3 sor left on the map for a couple hours after it turned green down by spawns.
That’s cool that you have a normal group of guys in TS not in one guild, but I will refer to my previous post with regards to the term “pugs”. I think you did an excellent job of defending while I was there.
In terms of the outnumbering, I believe TW was at hills fighting SoS according to the posts here by TW players, but I will say we did outnumber you between Bay and Garr, but not 5-1.
I believe I left around 9ish with my guild as I mentioned we went to EB and took SM (I think from what I saw in guild chat) however, I went to do some dungeons when we left.
I can’t comment on the wipe cause the only time we went for the N towers, we had to come immediately back to kill all the people tailing us XD yall were really good at picking off our stragglers in our group.
And indeed GG’s all around ^^
EDIT: and that was 9ish CST so around 7 PST or something like that.

I call myself a pug if I am following another guild around. even if I am on TS. Even if the guild I’m following is only 5 people running havoc. I am a pug in their group. Not a negative name lol.
The way I see it, a pug is someone I’m not associated with. I don’t avoid pugs because I think they’re trash or can’t complete the task at hand. Most pugs are actually skilled enough to do so. It’s more that the lack of association makes it possible that they won’t try to or stick around when things don’t work out. Someone you’re associated with is more likely to cooperate and do those things.

I agree this would be a good matchup. With some SoS guilds leaving I think the numbers would be very even now. BG got some new guilds.
At least we would get a close exciting match and people will get back into WvW again.
As it stands right now JQ with all their bandwagoning have kind of put a sour feel about WvW, its a no contest match with the amount of coverage they have. They went overboard on the recruit drive. Right now its like playing a sports match and they have double the amount of players on the field then pat themselves on the back for winning.
Oh, so then SoS/SoR players just stopped playing this weekend or something? Are you guys just demoralized? Oh, and lets not forget that a couple of weeks ago there were multiple SoS and SoR players saying that the TRUE fight happened on the weekends, as coverage issues were much less glaring. Has that statement been retracted now? Hilarious.
No it has not, the weekend is still far and away the best days of the week long match, both in fun to be had, and equal numbers. Glass Quarry happened to win the weekend fights, good show, you came out in force, knocked some heads together, and held your ppt high.
SoR has always, and will probably always, play the map they are in, and play for the fights on the map, if there are no fights, or the other servers scurry off to another map, we’ll just go there. Winning is fun for some I understand that, but it seems SoR has gotten numb to the ppt war, or the coverage war. Heck even when we sat at 500+ ppt in our last few weeks of T2, when the “Mass SBI Exodus” of 2013 was happening, we we’re bored, we look for the fights. Winning by a ton or losing, we just look for the fights.

If you guys havn’t noticed by now all we at SoR really care about is the fights. We basically showed that was the case last night in EB when choo farmed you guys in the lord room for like an hour and we all got about 400-500 kills and basically almost lost everything else. Most of our members actually wanted to stay and farm you in SM lord rooms the whole night while we lost everything else on the map and just have a nice blue icon right in the middle because it was really fun, but our commander couldn’t let our waypointed keep get taken, so we pulled out and let SoS take it. The difference between servers is SoR goes where the fight is while JQ and SoS go where the fight isn’t to maximize their PPT. I guess it depends on what you find fun in the game, having a big PPT or having amazing fights. SoR just loves the fights waaay to much and doesn’t play the PPT game like JQ and SoS, which will most likely be our downfall in the long run.
PUG = pick up group, how is that a negative term?
Its often used as a negative term because PUGs are often less experienced players and they are often sighted doing things like repairing SM outer with SM supplies before the treb has been countered and whilst the supplies are needed for wall upgrades. But then, I have seen organized guilds doing this frequently also. They also less commonly use voicecomms and overall its alot harder to work together in a pickup group. Also, pugs are hard to predict. I will literally fight a 2v10 or 1v5. I don’t care that I am outnumbered, I like the challenge. But you can never predict with a pug whether they are going to back you, so you could actually be fighting a 1v10 which is suicide.
That said, Im a pug myself right now. Ive been in guilds before, but Im not really impressed with leadership in guilds. Its highly unlikely I would join one, unless it was my own with my own expectations and rules. But I don’t really want the commitment, so PUG it is for now.

Why? What do we win? An over inflated ego? Our ego’s are too large as it is. We’d have construction crews in each keep widening the doors so we could get our heads in, sounds too costly.
T1 or T8, we don’t care, if there’s a good fight to be had, we’re pretty well content. We’ve fought the servers that stacked their way into T1, we’ve fought the servers that have fallen from T1, we’ve fought the server that swore up and down they’d get to T1 in 2 weeks, only to hold them for 7 more. We don’t care about the score, we don’t care about the ppt. All we want to do, is get you on the field and beat your brains in, or have ours beat in.
I spend almost all my time in WvW on SoR, very rarely do you see in map or team someone nitpicking over the score, and you do not hear it in our server team speak often either, The only time someone really gets upset is when the enemy we’re fighting stops showing up to fight.
Cheer and good fighting.

A. To a pvper the word PUG is a 4 letter word. JQ does not have PUG’s, we have people not in teamspeak. JQ is filled with old stupid gamers like my guild, who have the same opinion. Most of the JQ “zerg” are actually little 3-5man guild groups, which form the core of our strength in T1, highlighted by our big bread and butter guilds we’ve always had.
B. Your example above illustrates typical “pug” play. This is frowned upon by any pvper who wants to win in both spvp, tpvp, and wvw, and any objective based pvp game ever made.
C. Have whatever fun you want doing whatever, we do not judge by any means. But the SoR excuse train is getting so big it will need it’s own track soon.
D. JQ is in it for the fights, always has been, longest T1 server ever for a reason. Whoever is over on SoS right now rallying the troops, those guys are in it for the fights. The current fight is a bit overwhelming for SoR, this happens sometimes when a server comes into T1. It happened with BG, and they came back an entirely different animal the next time.
But as they say “If you can’t run with the big dogs…stay off the tier.”

Well why would I have to mention that if my post obviously implied that in the first place? Why would we be in EB if we already had a guild their and not pugs? Not my fault you have terrible reading comprehension, and like I said earlier we ran off to save our keep because our commander didn’t want to give up our waypoint. Most if not almost all of us wanted to just stay and fight SoS. Also the funny part of the night was when JQ just gave up trying to take SM and proceeded to take our whole side of the map while letting the SoS zerg keep getting wiped over and over and over. That amused me a lot.

Commanders, what can you do?
They use all those high sounding phrases: feint, diversion, back-tracking, back-cap, starve, rush, flank, buff. You almost think they know what they are talking about.
Oh, and stack on me, portal, veil, push, push, push, push, push. It’s in the commander manual, I guess. Where at the golems? Who left the golems? Tell golem #18 to get in that portal, now!

Your post contradicts itself. You say JQ/SoS go where the fight isn’t yet you defended SM for like an hour. IF we didn’t go where the fight is then how did you get all those kills?
sounds like you’re making up a bad story.
We moved to EB after farming PUGS in JQ BL for a few hours because we got extremely bored and wanted a fight. So you guys were actually already in EB where all we had was a bunch of PUGS from SoR and no guilds. We took SM within 20 minutes and wiped JQ and SoS zergs non stop for about an hour until JQ decided to tap on our keep with about 40. You didn’t go to where the fight was because we had to come to you if I didn’t make that obvious enough in my post lol.
actually you didn’t make that obvious enough, you never mentioned farming pugs or the JQ BL or moving to EB, or how it was already full of PUGS, or that there were no SoR guilds. So what are you talking about? I’m not even sure you know.
And this is about three servers, SoS attacked SM non stop and you ran off to defend your keep from JQ. IF all you care about is fights why run off. You keep contradicting yourself. Can’t wait to see what you come with next. lol.
Well why would I have to mention that if my previous post obviously implied that in the first place? Not my fault you have terrible reading comprehension, and like I said earlier we ran off to save our keep because our commander didn’t want to give up our waypoint. Most if not almost all of us wanted to just stay and fight SoS.
you didn’t imply it, nor did you even never mention the fact you switched servers. You just rambled on about PPT, and JQ/SoS not going where the fight is, then saying you defended the keep for over an hour. You’re contradicting yourself, then making things up, then contradicting yourself again… you’re just all over the place. The choo train has derailed.
Hahaha my favorite is the VIEL VIEL VIELLLLLL NOWWWW!!!
Ahh what would we do without our commanders :P

I thought it would be pretty obvious that we would have switched to EB since the whole conversation before my post was indicating that SoR switch to the maps where their is actually a fight. I guess its my fault for actually thinking you would have read previous posts or anything, and should have started off my post with Last night when we switched to EB instead of last night in EB. That is my fault
To the SoR wrecking people in our prime time, be careful guys, when you crush these zergs open field there is just glass all over the place, you could hurt your feet!
You may want to start caring about points if you want to remain in T1 much longer. Just saying…
Because, disregarding the scoreboard…will put you back in T2. Look, you play however you have fun man, won’t begrudge anyone that. I also enjoy the fighting in WvW, it’s why I ultimately even bother with WvW. But, there has been a whole lot of complaining coming from some members of your community about the fact that JQ bothers with the score. It really boils down to this. If you and your community bind yourselves by some sort of hidden code of conduct, or some sort of moral philosophy…you shouldn’t expect the competition to play by the same set of rules. JQ is playing the game within the boundaries it was created, and JQ is playing to win. You can’t play for the ‘fights’ and then whine about the score at the end of the week because you’re getting steamrolled (I say ‘you’, I mean anyone, not YOU specifically’).

Well to be honest you guys would win whether or not you cared about the PPT so much. Whats the difference from a 20-30k win and a 50-60k win? JQ seems overly obsessed with the scoreboard to the point where it doesn’t even make a difference anymore. Why move some of your guilds to a map with less resistance just to get more points when you are going to win by 30k+ anyway? Why not have some awesome fights instead and only win by 30k? Just doesn’t make that much sense because no matter what JQ focuses on either open field fights or the PPT lead they will still win anyway, and that’s just being honest because we just cant compete with you guys in our off hours.
Good day.
Its alwasy better to slightly overestimate the enemy yes, However, I would guess you knew how many you had, you gave numbers, and I know how many we had, it was less than your numbers you provided.
Actually, I didn’t put you in the small section at all. sorry for the misunderstanding. bad phrasing on my part and adding unecessary drama, agreed. That small section is actually very small, almost a group of one given that one’s prolific postings.
I really don’t mind the word pug at all, as others have said, it stands for pick up group and designates a group of players who just get together for a temporary situation.
The issue I have is with its usage sometimes. That is all. Some folks, (not you I agree) tend to basically use it in a degoratory way, as if a pug is somehow a lesser individual in WvW and attach all manner of WvW bad practice to that word
What’s in a word? nothing, its how it is applied that is annoying at times.
Sorry, to jump down your throat.

Well, I can’t speak for my entire server. I know that my server plays to win, and in this current incarnation of WvW, playing for PPT is playing to win.
I roam around solo alot, avoid friendly and enemy zergs alike, and have lots and lots of great fights…both winning and losing, but always learning. To the soloers and small groups on SoR/SoS, thanks for the fun fights . BUT, I do not expect everyone to play by my set of rules, i’ve accepted that my preferred playstyle is extremely precarious in a game mode such as WvW.

30k win isn’t alot. It could potentially be lost in a day. Ive seen servers pull over 20k gap in a day regularly. The buffer is actually nice for committed players like myself. It gives me the freedom to go do what I want. If I want to go farm some dungeons or do some other PvE I have the freedom to do so. If I see less than a 30k lead in the last few days, it means I have to come in and contribute. So basically, its keeping the server refreshed for the next week. Then there is the morale which tends to play a big part in WvW also.

I actually agree 100% with your statements about JQ pugs, in most cases I’d take them over any of the organized guilds on JQ. When we were on JQ the pugs were a force to be reckoned with, used to roll all the “big name” guilds regardless of tier or skill. Its unfortunate that you guys don’t take as big a role anymore, as all I hear about now is the best guilds you guys have, but JQ pugs at the start were not something you mess with. Mad props to JQ pugs <3 Actually you guys probably hate being called “Pugs” so I’ll call you Quarrians?
JQ’s community TS ftw

We went to EB to kill them not the other way around, so SoS and JQ were already in EB stomping our PUGs for the whole day until we showed up and started wiping them repeatedly. Me and someone else already argued about how I should have put in my post Last night when we moved to EB instead of last night in EB. My fault. Does it make sense now? Oh yeah and JQ just gave up after wiping 5-6 times to us in Lords Room and instead of fighting us went to PvDoor our little corner in EB while SoS continued to get slaughtered in the lords room (it was an awesome 3 way fight until JQ decided to go PvDoors). I at least give SoS props for not giving up, but that was most likely due to JQ taking our whole corner and them knowing that we would have to abandon SM sooner or later.

I’m not sure I see where the problem is. JQ and SoS are being farmed by SoR. After being wiped 5-6 times JQ decides to go do something productive (rather than stacking badges for you and your guild), and forces SoR to be reactive rather than proactive. Sounds like a solid tactical alternative to being farmed relentlessly. In fact, I will submit to you that being wiped 5-6 times trying to execute the same fail strategy, was about 4-5 times too many. I don’t know about you, but I pretty much refuse to be farmed.

To the SoR wrecking people in our prime time, be careful guys, when you crush these zergs open field there is just glass all over the place, you could hurt your feet!
You may want to start caring about points if you want to remain in T1 much longer. Just saying…
Wait what? Like 4 trolls came in and said some crap about the score at the end of the week, the vast overwhelming majority of SoR does not care about the score. We don’t play by some hidden code of conduct or whatever, and we don’t try and tell other servers how to play by our apparent(non existent) rules.
If you, and I do mean YOU specifically want to base your entire view of a server off of a very small handful of forum whiners, well then we can apply that failtastic logic to any server. Lets pick JQ! Zergers/2v1 cryers/talentless stackers, JQQso on and so forth. It sounds stupid, because it is stupid. You do whatever ever it is to stay in this mythical magical T1, and we’ll just go find someone to kill.
When you are out numbered, and the situation is hopeless, you have no option-you must attack
