2/26 Patch Notes Discussion
•Using stealth no longer resets NPC aggression tables.
Does this mean no more hiding thieves it towers/keeps to res mesmers.

You’ve missed out;
- Reduced the number of maximum of stacks of Retaliation allowed to five (was 25). Duration still stacks.
This is a PvE change but affects WvW alot as stacking on a Righteous Indignation Supervisor and spamming light fields + blast finishers will now take 80% longer to kill them.
With the change to Righteous Indignation coupled with the change to Retaliation (Supervisor will only get hit by 5 Retaliations instead of 25 per Supervisor attack) supply camp raiding @ 4 mins and below will be the new meta for PPT as they will be almost impossible to take back before PPT reset.

That simply means monsters previously aggro’d onto a Thief will re-engage the Thief as soon as he leaves stealth assuming his aggression score is higher then that of the monsters temporary new target (the one it switched too when the Thief stealthed)

What is the difference between this:
he gets rezzed through the wall puts portals down and get people in.
and this?
u should be still able to put put a port down inside keep and jump outside and portal people in.
the difference is,one is an exploit and hasn’t been fixed yet, the other one is a mesmer hiding, putting down portal and jump over the wall and get people in as intended.

Not almost impossible, it will be impossible. You can start at 4:59 and run and get as many camps as possible and they cannot be taken back before the tick. A good tactic would be to send small groups to all the camps at 5:00 and cap them all and you are guarantted them for the tick.
Ah, ok. So they lose aggro while stealed but when the ycome out the NPC’s will come after them again.

Hopefully camp claims with righteous indignation can still be hit with vulnerability. That’s the real way they die with the buff on, after all. Only works well with a zerg, but that’s always been fine by me.

I took it to mean that NPCs would see through stealth and would keep following/attacking … rather than deagroing the way they do now when a toon goes into stealth. If there’s no other target but the thief, or whatever toon is stealthed that would follow wouldn’t it?

I couldn’t care less about righteous indignation, now i gotta try new builds to neutralize thieves as retaliation is my favourite way of dealing with them

Retaliation was the main source of killing a buffed Supervisor. Previously Retaliation had a 25 stack limit, meaning when the Supervisor swung her hammer into a zerg she would be hit back a maximum of 25 times with different players Retaliation.
This has now been changed down to 5 stacks, previously a guild zerg could stack light fields + blast combo and take a supervisor in about 20 seconds, now your looking at about 3 minutes.
Not impossible, but only doable by the major guilds.

I mostly took this as them finally fixing Skill Point mobs and Champs instantly resetting the second you go stealth.

The change is not to single target Retaliation, the “stack” they speak of is the amount of Retaliation hits a person would take per skill they cast.
Example, I used an AoE into a crowd of 50 people all with Retaliation i would be hit back 25 times, now its only 5 times.
This only effects large scale fights, there’s been no change at all to small scale and 1v1’s.

So, uhm
The part about Condition Damage no longer affecting NPCs with Righteous Indignation at all,
How do major guilds get around that?
I didn’t take the patch notes to read “Retaliation used to be able to affect 25 players in an area and now only 5” so much as “For every individual player, Retaliation can only stack duration 5 times now instead of 25”.
You also seem to have missed the part about Righteous Indignation now preventing all condition damage, how do you propose the major guilds beat it?
Retaliation is not considered Condition Damage, its True damage. You never ‘inflict’ Retaliation on an enemy so they cant be immune to it.

So…. if you think that 5 minutes is too long for righteous indignation with these changes, I guess you’re going to be really upset to find out that righteous indignation actually lasts for 6 minutes.
- for 1 minute, the buff says “5 min”
- for 1 minute, the buff says “4 min”
- for 1 minute, the buff says “3 min”
- for 1 minute, the buff says “2 min”
- for 1 minute, the buff says “1 min”
- for 1 minute, the buff counts down 60 seconds
Longest 5 minutes in the game.
It improves nerve and the mesmer thief, what is he going to use the mesmer.
The swords change is very interesting to me. Trying to promote a lot of smaller play, but i’m not sure how well it’ll work, guess we’ll have to see after the patch.

Both are incorrect.
Let’s say there are 25 players with retaliation attacking a mob. The mob casts an AoE that hits all 25 players once. Because of the retaliation on each player, the mob would take damage 25 times. Now, post patch, if the mob hits the 25 players, only 5 of the retaliations will hit him back. The other 20 buffs will not tick.

I did delete that post in favour of completely rewriting it and erasing the parts about retaliation, seeing as it’s something unproveable until the patcher stops disconnecting on me and actually gets me back in game,
But I get the feeling that Anet is trying to prevent all ways of killing buffed supervisors before the time runs out.

Eles are now “slightly” less mobile. -Shrugs-
On the bright side, we now have 5 more secs to try to kill them before they can flee.

Since the AoE will only affect 5 of those players anyway, this seems like a completely logical change.

And now I have NO reason to play my ranger in WvW…
good path about swords. 25 maybe too large a limit imo. But at least now there is a place for the none zergers in WvW
Awwwww they changed “guard” for ranger. Oh well, guess we rangers can try killing siege with just our Barrage now, since it was changed.
Too bad, but this isnt a q.q post, but oh well. Time to see if i can still cast it on the ground and attack enemy siege that is outside our range.

Yea, the 25 people to activate orange swords is a bit too much if you ask me. If it was 10 or 15 i would be ok, but at 25, you are looking basically at zerg battles only.

Yeah, the swords change is bad.
When is the big WvW update when u can buy pinky stuff with badges? The reward is so little in WvW
So I can head over to an enemy keep, find an obscure portion of wall, set up a catapult and take the wall down and then call in the zerg to take over the keep. This change will force servers to have someone stationed as all assets and therefore it brings up the question of reward for those people guarding that asset. Without a reward of some sorts for sitting at a tower for hours on end watching for individuals such as mentioned above who is going to be willing to take the task on? Stonemist will be interesting as there is alot of external wall at that castle where one or two people can set up a catapult and bash away.
This change is going to make for some interesting times. The servers that have the numbers to spread out will not be affected as much as smaller servers that at times have maybe 10 people on any map.
kitten patch which shows how little anet cares about class balance in wvw. No confusion nerf? No bunker ele nerf? Instead bunker eles get BUFFED in wvw? I am just truly blown away by much disregard anet gives wvw balance. They just don’t give a kitten at all.
Needless to say, this patch isn’t the big WvW patch which comes in March. Please hold the QQ until then.
:3 hmmm I’m excited to try it out now. I want to see how nerfed we warriors are.

Nope, Skale and Gears are cold hard cash items, not Karma….
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Skale_Venom_
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Gear_holy kitten, true. Quaggan is sad.
It would seem ANet just used “karma” to cover all of these consumables, regardless of what currency is actually used to purchase them.
I just tested Skale Venom and it cannot be used in WvW even though it is purchased with copper/gold. Not sure about Gears, since I don’t have or use them, but I’d wager they also have been rendered unusable now.
sword change is anti pug!
At higher up, pug cmdrs use swords to know enemy movements (a lot more than guild zergs on TS do, which usually have its own scouts and receive reports over voice com)
and at the buttom, puggers use swords to get their bearing, to find the zergs, or action.
maybe have different colors of swords to indicate strength? No sword only hurts the sides without as much voice comm.
Just thought of something. In the case of SM for example, if a server has a group of 24 people pounding away on a section of wall the swords will not appear as it is not over the 25 person threshold. Now if one person hammers away on another wall section does that take it to the 25 person threshold or does it count as a separate attack altogether?
It will definately create some interesting possibilities.

Swords tend to be localized, so my guess is no.
Omnom Pies and Ghosts have a 1 or 2 second internal cooldown now. I used to love the pies on Thief Shortbow.

YEEEEEEEEEEEEY i can now ninja cap with a whole server! bcoz you know a RoS zerg cant be more then 25 ever! so i can just cap shizzle and never ever leave a marker behind! its epic innit!? Too bad it works both ways and its by far the worst change added to WvW yet! yes im kitten if u didnt noitce yet.

i wish i had ae’s that could hit 25 people at once.

Early testing puts it at a 1 second internal cool down.
ArenaNet have stealth nerfed Elementalist in addition to the nerfs named in patch notes.
If you’ve just used Mist Form cantrip and get downed, you cannot use Vapour form any more. Its on a cooldown, I assume shared with Mist Form.
Not impressed. Not impressed at all.
I know DD eles need a nerf but ArenaNet do not need to mess up everyone else too that doesn’t play flavor of the month spec.

so at times i have a (potential) 95 % reduction in healing now. Not cool. (locst swarm + well of suffering + well of corruption + marks = potentially 20 hits a second).

Told you it was an exploit. Nobody listened. All those thieves I reported hopefully will get banned!

Not that I think it was a valid tactic,
But nothing about the patch notes indicate it was an exploit. And certainly not a bannable one.
And poof. Lol, guess that answers that question huh?

Yes it does. I received an infraction not to discuss exploits on the forums and copy and paste staff messages.
