How many people did you kill since Friday and how many times did you die? That is how I rate success.

What a bizarre way of measuring success.

Given the way this game works, I find that using the scoreboard as a measure is the bizarre method. It rewards coverage and population rather than superior play.

Measuring success based on cap points and coverage in a game mode based on cap points and coverage is bizarre?

The point I was trying to make, since you missed it, is that the system is flawed. Matches aren’t won by superior play, they are won by who has the best around the clock population and coverage. I pride myself on playing better than my opposition, not on taking keeps while they are sleeping.

I am not sure how to make it any more clear to you. Hopefully you understand this.

30+ minutes fight in SM = sweet. Not being able to use a single heal for 10 seconds and having to die because of it = D .e.r.p

First part I quoted: I seriously hope nobody in T1 is getting wiped by portal bombs still.

9 and 0 are hard to reach. What do you expect.

It’s generally a good idea to try rebinding them to more convenient keys, probably ones that aren’t used. Good examples are C and Mouse 3, or if you want to move your scoreboard key you can use B as well

Not to mention you can bind strafe to A and D as turn left/right is useless anyways, and free up Q/E for other things.

Anyways, clicking is the least of it.

We will tick between 5 and 100 for the most part during our off coverage hours. Not to much we can do about that right now. I just hope your brand new coverage can stop JQ from ticking away at 600.

No worries though, we will keep bringing it in the evenings, even if we have to fight up hill against structures that were taken and upgraded while we were offline. We have been doing it for months and are quite used to it.

That is the truth and I want to say thank you for being honest. Same goes for all the other JQ and BG players that show same fairplay.
I have to say that during N/A prime time we have won every single confrontation against JQ and BG major guilds with the group that I was running. I have to say that this is very rewarding for quite a few of us as you might have seen even to the point that we would just look around for a challenge rather than worry about ppt.
I think the game should be more about battles rather than worry about each other real estate.
I hope you guys have enjoyed the fireworks.

I am not sure what he is complaining about given that the vast majority of the time we were fighting forces much larger than ours.

Many players actually do not prefer this zerg style of game play. If you look at other threads on this forum currently and in the past, you would notice that many actually want to run in smaller groups to complete objectives on the map like taking camps, defending towers, escorting yaks, etc. Zerging up in a huge 50+ ball and ignoring objectives on the map may win open field battles but it doesn’t show strategy, tactical play and players’ skills, and with the issues with lag and culling, it is downright unplayable at times since you can die without even knowing what happened.

I feel that SOR is playing similar to how SOS used to play which was to ball up in huge zergs to run through their opponents. SOS however did play strategically like encouraging other servers to fight each other so they benefit from 2v1, scouting, etc and that was why they were devastating and was one of the main reasons for their dominance for around 2 months. SOR zergs up and ignores practically everything else on the map – No strategy, no tactics, ignoring points and objectives on the map.

There are some posters who have an opinion that K/D is the best indication of performance. However, as many have stated already, the best K/D ratio is achieved through balling up in 50+ zerg. Many feel that spamming skills without seeing who you are hitting or who is hitting does not show player skills.

SoR doesn’t zerg ball outside of maybe one guild I know of that still does it. It is an inferior tactic that is easily broken. In fact, when we first came to T1 I was shocked that people were still having success with both it and portal bombing. I guess that speaks more poorly of the bandwagon issues with skill level more than the server originals though.

It would be nice to be able to play all night with just 10-20 of us and not worry about running into 80 man zergs all the time from BG/JQ. Unfortunately, small map size and the overemphasis placed on zerging down structures for points is preventing this.

Oh I think you may be a bit off with your statement of what people prefer. I don’t think anyone wants to take camps, yaks, towers, etc in small groups. What I think people really want is being able to roam in small groups and fight other small groups. Do any of us really W3 to PvE objectives?

You keep talking about this “balling around and spamming skills”. Well if you know anything about large scale battles and if you were a commander, I can guarantee you that you will lose every single fight out there in this tier. Let me break it down for you. I might not be the best strategist nor the best player, but here are the things that specific professions and commander should do to win large scale fights, given that both forces are at equal numbers.

Commander: Make sure your squad doesn’t get flanked, distracted or circled around the enemy force. Unlike starcraft, being surrounded isn’t very good. Order specific professions what to do, call out exactly where to go and when to retreat.

Individuals: Stick to that commander icon within 600 radius, unless you’re called to do something else.

Warriors: You are the front line infantry, you scare the living hell out of those enemies and charge right into them. Initiate with hammer F1 or Axe 5. Whenever a commander calls directions you should be the one leading the charge.

Guardians: You heal, give boons, CC and absorb damage. You are the best cannon fodder out there. You take damage and you don’t give a kitten Dodge roll and heal like crazy and keep those squishies alive. You should be in the front line with warriors.

Necromancers: You are one of the most important professions in large scale fights. You spread conditions, remove conditions from allies, blind foes for the longest time than any other class in the game. You manage conditions, you own those conditions. Lead that zergball with you and keep them alive.

Mesmers: You stay behind those big boys and do the fun stuff. You give quickness to those people in the front line, reflect all those petty projectiles and apply mass confusion to the enemy using glamours. You are the game changer.

Elementalists: You manage those combo fields and mass AoE, rain havoc on the enemies. Heal allies, full offensive or stunning the enemy zerg with Air 5.

Thieves: Now, you get to have some fun. Enemies trying to flank from behind? Tell your commander what’s up. Enemies setting up those ballistas up the hill? Unless if a warrior is going full tank 0/0/30/25/15 then chances say they are going to explode as soon as they go into the middle of the enemy zerg unless they are hiding behind the “safety in numbers” factor.
They aren’t a good front line tank, heck my necromancer and engineer are better at tanking and initiating zerg fights than my warrior via Supply Crate+Frost Grenade/ Plague form+Chilling Darkness ._.

I think the game should be more about battles rather than worry about each other real estate.

Many players actually do not prefer this zerg style of game play. If you look at other threads on this forum currently and in the past, you would notice that many actually want to run in smaller groups to complete objectives on the map like taking camps, defending towers, escorting yaks, etc. Zerging up in a huge 50+ ball and ignoring objectives on the map may win open field battles but it doesn’t show strategy, tactical play and players’ skills, and with the issues with lag and culling, it is downright unplayable at times since you can die without even knowing what happened.

I feel that SOR is playing similar to how SOS used to play which was to ball up in huge zergs to run through their opponents. SOS however did play strategically like encouraging other servers to fight each other so they benefit from 2v1, scouting, etc and that was why they were devastating and was one of the main reasons for their dominance for around 2 months. SOR zergs up and ignores practically everything else on the map – No strategy, no tactics, ignoring points and objectives on the map.

There are some posters who have an opinion that K/D is the best indication of performance. However, as many have stated already, the best K/D ratio is achieved through balling up in 50+ zerg. Many feel that spamming skills without seeing who you are hitting or who is hitting does not show player skills.

The post was about doing so with same numbers or while outnumbered let’s be honest some groups have better combat strategy than others. That is because they love to fight and not to just accumulate ppt and practice makes it perfect. The wvw should be about servers actually confronting each other not fighting doors, NPC’s and/or wining by coverage. The whole history shows that wars were actually won by battles and not points. The battles were also won by whoever had the best strategy even when outnumbered.

Huh? There is OCX on SoR now? When did that happen? Source?

Hopefully SoR gets equal coverage to BG or JQ so this match turns into a 3 way photo finish, I think this is really what everyone wants. Doesn’t seem like SoR is that far off, maybe start talking with Kain, they have to have Oceanic Qs with the forces they had in T2. I doubt they would miss a couple smaller guilds to help SoR

SoR has become zergier as it went up in tiers in order to compensate for the larger enemy zergs.

I only run in small-man groups and I can tell you that it is hard to find BG and JQ players that aren’t in zergballs or won’t run back to their zerg unless they have superior numbers. That is the nature of most people regardless of server.
