You talk like playing with alts on WvW isn’t actually fighting… OFC underlevels can’t 1v1, and a big zerg of underlevels can be done quick, but they still can man siege and carry supply, which is the root of WvW.

Also there are some level 80 noobs on SF that died to my upleveled engineer in 1v1. You never know who you will find around…

This is the way I run. I mean, there are only a few ways to get a feel if you like a toon in GW2.

You can play it PvE, level up slowly, the “Traditional” way as it may be considered.

You can go to sPvP, and see everything the class offers, all the skills, abilities, and play with builds and ideas there, but, you still need to find another way to level up if you plan to do anything other then sPvP.

You can jump into WvWvW get a very quick feel for how you stack up against many different kinds of things, from other players, to a variety of mobs and even buildings. Not to mention you also can level up while being up leveled.

So for me, Leveling an Alt in WvW just makes sense. But when I am leveling an alt, I am out there fighting, I mean maybe some people go to the WvWvW maps to only do the PvE stuff, but that ain’t me, I am always on the front lines fighting till my last, and it don’t matter if I am playing a leveled up alt, or as my main.

hehe... oh i ain’t "giving up"... not by a long stretch. >:-)

but ya gotta admit, karma train is awesome xp. if there’s one runnin’ maybe alt leveling time. if its small numbers or a heavy defense or something like that... its the 80 guard all teh way.

Sorry I didn’t make myself clear….there is nothing wrong when people level alts in WvW. I have leveled four toons in WvW, I’m just confused when I see a response on the forums like most of us on a server level alts.

It feels like this match has devolved into a weird 3-way peace where the following cycle plays out repeatedly:

1) SF takes everything, or close to it
2) They leave and go kill dragons or kittens (or whatever it is wicked people do) to let us take everything back so they have something to do again.
3) They come back. We maybe defend the southern towers for a bit but eventually get overwhelmed (hello, Commander Siegerazer)
4) Everyone goes their separate ways, our commanders leave or turn off their tags and we go back to step 1.

The cycle repeats so frequently that upgrades rarely have time to happen, which only makes it go faster. Everyone knows everyone else’s siege tricks at this point also, so it’s really just a matter of how much of a gold tax we’re going to put on each other before it’s over, and when we know we’ll just take everything back 10 minutes later that number’s being driven to zero. It’s a great environment for leveling alts, but not much else.

All of which means, at least from what I’ve seen lately, that there’s not a lot of actual fighting going on. That leaves those who want to keep fighting without a lot of ideas as to what to do.

I can’t speak for anyone else, but I feel a little at odds with myself mentioning that I want SF out of our Server while I am planting my boot against their backside ensuring that they stay awhile longer.

It was good to see you these passed few days Anarchy. I don’t believe I’ve seen you around before so either you just got a Commander tag or I just wasn’t paying attention( likely the latter as sometimes I have two eyes on nine different things. haha)

Gilkin, I know you don’t want to talk about it, so I’ll just say: I’ll miss your Command, but it will still be fun fighting along side you and the Asuran Army.

That Kawagima…what can I say. His ability to rez/revive under fire is amazing. He pulled me back from the brink several times over the last few days. Thanks, man! You are a nice addition to Mend and I look forward to seeing more of you.

It’s cute how you give yourself so much credit for what is moreso your server, and beyond that the how Glicko2 handles tier 8.

Pretty sure just the Glicko2 system that is keeping us here.

This was a joke poked at someone who seemed to miss it. I think there may be some folks about who seem to have some fascination with what they deem to be facts.

Gilkin is my brotha from anotha motha. I know I can only can tolerate commanding every once in a while. It is a self-preservation technique. I don’t begrudge anyone for not wanting to command for whatever reason.

Glicko2 is not the problem, if you think it is, feel free to bring that up with Anet. What generated the problem was Free Transfers (Which Anet admitted to) and players jumping on the bandwagon of a server they thought was going to kick off.

So the only “cute” thing here is the same thing that put you all in green is the same thing that condemns you to T8. I, personally, am loving that irony.

Edit: also, as far as credit goes. Yes, every camp I take, every Ram I drop that helps take a tower, keep, garrison or castle, contributes to your staying here just that much longer. ET does not have a the leisure of overwhelming numbers, so every one of us matters, every one of our contributions count, with the volume of people SF can field, I am sure that is a foreign thing on SF, but on ET, every hand is an important hand.

And yes, Everyone on ET should pat themselves on the back for a job well done! I for one am honored to stand with such tenacious fighters! Never Surrender!

At the same time, I still feel quite odd about the idea that I am putting so much effort to fight SF, and thus keep you all here, when many on your side have expressed that you don’t want to be here and I would not mind a new face around these parts either.

Server Drama, happens no matter where you go or what server you are on, we need to get an ET forums more active so we can keep put drama there, as to not drag you all into something that, no offence, does not involve you.

I think we could even put sub categories for Guilds on the Forums, private to those members, I’ll talk to the Admin about that.

The problem is FC and ET barely have enough players to hold SF at bay during peak hours. In the past few weeks, I have heard that some of the FC major guilds have quit WVW. The rankings look like this might be the case. My server ET also seems to be losing players slowly, due to lack of motivation. I have even thought about paying to transfer to another server. I just want a somewhat even match-up. Switch the ranking system so that it goes by server populations, or even better, WvWvW player population. I don’t care about moving up in the tiers, I just want to have a fighting chance. Unfortunately ET and FC don’t have one right now. No one can defend against a 30 to 70 man zerge with an non-upgraded keep and the Outmanned buff. We should not have to go on vacations or whatever it is FC is doing just to let SF have a few blowout weeks. With the system the way it is we will probably run into the same problem with the next server that moves down.

One of the major obstacles for SF climbing is the skewed rankings that ET and FC have (through no real fault of their own). The problem will persist after SF moves up because those ranking will stay the same unless you guys match-up better against the new server population wise. Which I think if the populations are balanced both ET and FC can fight hard and fight well. But with the ranking of your servers artificially low I am not sure how much ranking you will gain in the long run as if you soundly beat the new server their ranking will drop fast making future ranking gains for your server that much harder to achieve.

Just how I see it, I may be wrong.

I never said I wasn’t a hypocrit, only that certain ET posters were unaware of their own hypocracy. That being said, if SF is exploiting get in contact with the WvW guilds on SF please. And yes, we have been mailing the exploits to ANet regularly.

Yessir glass does melt. However glass has a higher melting point than wood. And those darn wooden gates are not affected by the flames. Still confused why not. So those flame rams are weak sausage.

Still trying to figure out why you would use the flame ability of the ram myself. I would like to see some more interesting mechanics for rams and gates. Maybe use flames to keep up stacks of burning which allows for bigger ram hits or maybe the gates will catch on fire if you put up enough stacks of burning…

The #2 Skill is for Rituals to the Flame Ram God… Line up a bunch of rams and hit 2 for a fiery procession.

If an enemy ram is in the way and you can’t damage the gate with the ram you are using please hit the 2 skill. You will see why that skill is on the ram. Hitting 3 times right in a row for double damage of the 1 skill is win. Especially when you can then, without cooldown, hit the 1 skill.
