What does a 5 man SPvP team accomplish in WvW anyway?, I mean seriously, besides supply camps and harrasing solo roamers…

They pretty much harass stragglers and pug zergs. They are pretty effective against unorganised groups that aren’t too big, but I feel like most of the zergs in this tier are too big for them to be able to do anything to.

I dunno. I roamed with 4 of them the other night and we were taking on zergs composed of a lot of the same guild tags. Other than that smashing other evenly sized groups that happened to cross our path. It was pretty impressive.

Yeh, I may be wrong but I was under the impression they were a ‘zerg buster’ squad.
Fights where they are 10vs10-20 they are definitely extremely good at, but I have yet to see them do anything to a decent 25/30 man zerg. Would love to be proved wrong though.

As a havok group though they are definitely top tier.

This isnt the first time I read something from small SPvP squads in WvW. And I’m sure your server does appreciate your help, but in al honesty SPvP and WvW are two different beasts. I love 1v1, no other melee player will ever stand toe to toe with my Guardians build, but for some reason the SPvP Groups wont duel 1v1, which I find hillarious due to their self proclaimed “Impressive Skill”.

This is a pre “Im calling you out” Your best 5 against RE’s best 5, on Thursday for Fight Club, this time I’ll make sure to be there, with all the bells and whistles

Last time I checked, there was no capture circle to attack or defend for those 1 on 1 matchups. Unless there’s some metaphory slang happening.

Looking for one week of the matchup thread that is not dominated by passive aggressive TC posters making condescending or misleading posts, or by my own FA even bothering to respond to these pompous winkittens.

Bottom line from the GM of a guild that has fought most of the best guilds in WvW, on either side of the NA/EU divide. You aren’t going to find any of them on TC.

A few of the terms that I see being thrown around here loosely are " classy" and “respect”, both definitions of behavior of which I have yet to see from the posts of the self appointed TC forum voices.

The funniest part of it all is that TC can’t afford to try the idiocy of the dolyak parade ever again, because PPT has overtaken their lives, the need to beat FA is in and of itself a fine reward, each call for reinforcements from an already huge server a quiet joke for the observant.

Oh, one final note…. TC posters, you can drop all the pretenses of how “nice you are”, we know you are in a win at all costs mindframe, and it’s ugly. And no, my guild isn’t interested in transferring to TC, so please have some self respect and just quit with the harassment.

I know that niceness and kindness are two different things. Just because one person hugs you does not mean its love. I get it, I know the deal…etc! However, as far as FA’s gameplay goes, I can judge and observe because I did play a lot of WvW on the side of FA. I’ve played a lot this week on the side of TC…

If you wish to talk about non-PPT..Just killing players?

Daze on our group of five, decimated many groups of five. We aren’t the best in the world, but it also proves that some of the FA guilds are all talk, specially when talking about havok squads. Remember how you boasted to be better than TC? You aren’t! and we have to say that we are having an easier time killing most FA guilds on the field than we had at killing more TC guilds out there.

How about in the zerging? FA claims to be better and not zergball at all? Guess what…The only guild we have not consistently destroyed from a pure pug group lead by a commander this week has been BT, but…a commander with 50% of his force guild-members and the other 50% pugs, destroys BT consistently over and over again across the map.

You claim FA never gives up? More like TC does not give up. They are willing to go all seven days and not sleep on the job. If I want a break and do my daily, I can go to PvE where there are so many more players on the map that I can get things done while on FA most of the maps on PvE are empty outside of the high level maps or start zones.

Remember, half my guild is on FA and all I need to do if you make a “true” or “false” claim is to go ask them to check up on it and they will not lie to me on the matter. If you make a claim about TC, I am on TC now and can figure out and see truth over lie…

Finally, TC is cheerful enough with their antics on the field in WvW, but I love those antics because truth be told…yes! I have seen a lot more friendliness and kindness so far from TC than FA. In fact unlike FA, TC actually appreciates small guilds, their actions and effort.

Oh my gosh. “My group is better than your group, my zerg is better than your zerg, FA sucks blah blah”

When will you stop? If you want a challenging 5v5 I dare you to beat my group.

Everytime AoN is seen on the map TC people simply say, just run right by them and get on with the task at hand. Whereas your group is good at running around with 8-10 players you are viewed as a non threat and a time sink to chase around to try and kill, so we don’t being almost always other things take president.

I don’t say this as a chest thumping kind of deal. I’m just letting you know why groups from 10-30 are passing you by without so much as slowing down to wave. TC views AoN as more of a havoc team that goes around contesting POI or taking camps, attacking stragglers and such. Kind of a weak tea but whatever floats your boats sirs.

First, I think it should be noted that this tier, this match-up, is one of the best there is. In terms of the quality of the fights, the skill level of the teams and players involved, and even the balance of the individual matches. In any given week it has been a different one of the 3 servers with the advantage, and if we forget the points and match winner for a moment, I think we can all agree that the fights and fun are truly fantastic in Tier 2.

Second, as regards the lengths to which some might go to win, or even just to compete at the highest level they can, I am sure all the Shadowbane players out there are chuckling to themselves right now. Ultimately, it is the things off the field, not on, that dictate victory. Coverage is just one example of this.

Some people do not consider WvW as real PvP, or in the GW2 realm specifically, to be THE PvP venue – seeing sPvP as the real deal. This opinion has always baffled me, and I think those of us who are knee-deep in WvW, would admit that as a competitive exercise, it is PvP at it’s best. The breadth of engagement is extreme, and as was the case with SB, extends to beyond the game world…this is the true reality of a quality open world PvP experience, and while not everything done is admirable or even acceptable, it is, in a way, a testament to the nature of this contest and the investment of the combatants. WvW is war.

EVE makes wvwvw look rank amateur frankly.

You may yet be proven correct, but it is far too early to say that yet about this match-up. Each of the three teams has won matches by margins equally as large, and each has fielded more numbers than the others to a similar degree. People need to look at the bigger picture. This is Week 5, as the topic reminds us…there will be at least 2 more. This ain’t over yet.

Naaa this is Disneyland compared to EVE. Still not even as bad as T1.. :p I think people are just experiencing deterioration due to our server facing the same opponents time and time again which is a bit too early imo…. Heck even Kain is getting cranky.

They do harass stragglers quite a bit. Those trying to get back to the battle….5 on 1…now there is a challenge for them for all their bellowing about looking for good fights.

Early on they were’nt as much of a blowout, that is before BG got all their transfers. Those matches finished about 60k? or so apart in the end but it was done evenly throughout the week. TC gained a huge lead in just 2 days, i’m interested to see what kind of lead they have by next friday. Actually may be enough that in a couple weeks Kain will be having a vacation in T3. We shall see

Don’t worry, we’re not giving up. I’m just saying if TC plays this strong for a few weeks we will go to T3, no doubt about it. It’s far more likely than TC going to T1 by looking at the differences in the scores between tiers. The problem is when we fall behind our fairweather players go into hiding. They aren’t used to losing.

When WM decides to appear in force again, this tier will get MUCH closer very quick.

I don’t think it’s too early, we’ve been playing for five weeks and Kaineng crapped the bed for two, arguably three of them if you look at just NA/EU. Even when she won, Kaineng was carried by her Oceanics. NA gets slaughtered, not necessarily always in fights when they happen, but lately in PPT. There is no EU on the server to speak of.

I’m often told I’m too negative (I’m sure everyone is shocked!) but I was still right when I predicted our loss last week and I predicted our fall out of T2 after seeing how we followed it up. I did not predict either of these things without evidence, and despite my grumbling I still command every day so I’m very closely familiar with what Kaineng has to work with. We can still fight, but we don’t have enough people to actually hold large amounts of territory. For now all we can really hope to do is wipe zergs and hold our own on individual maps. This can be fun, but it’s not how servers win WvW matchups. The way the scoring works, you can’t really build a safe lead without going at least +300 for long stretches--and even this assumes your second opponent isn’t +0 or close. That happened to us last week; I think FA actually got fully pushed for a minute or five, and I kept looking up at 300 PPT and thinking "aww yee" but when you expanded the score, TC was right around the same in points. Problem was, most of the territory we held was "supposed" to belong to FA, so when they woke back up (which didn’t take long) they ate points mostly from us and we were soon losing 75+ PPT to TC. So since we had more of what should have been FA, and TC had more of what should have been ours, they won the points game that night, and I think almost every night since.

I think this week, in order for Kaineng to win (or maybe even to come in second) she will likely have to turn in a new server best performance. During EU primetime, we’re probably looking at losing (assuming an average ~100-150 PPT loss during, say, 5 hours which would be [125PPT*20 ticks]) 2,500 points on territory alone, plus probably another thousand for kills and yaks and whatnot. If TC has a stronger oceanic presence this week, as hyped, this means that Kaineng may not be able to pull down +300 during her usual strong slot for long enough to catch up. This means that Kaineng’s NA primetime has to win its matchup, probably every day. I work evenings so I always miss the start of NA prime, but it’s usually pretty ugly when I get there around 11pm and I spend most of my commands (in borderlands at least) trying to run damage control.

I play on TC and am in the borderlands every day. I really enjoy the WvW competition in this tier and thought I’d share had three positive experiences with FA players recently in WvW.

1. I was snooping around water camp when an FA invader sent me a party invite. S/he then told me they wouldn’t attack if all I wanted was the point of view there. I replied that I was there to cause mischief and they wished me good luck! Nothing special, just a pleasant interaction.

2. I was engaged in a long fight with a KA thief when I noticed an FA mesmer come along. The thief and I were evenly matched and it was really a great duel. The FA player waited until the fight was over before attacking, after which another kick kitten fight ensued. Thanks to the honorable FA player who realized that fun small fights are hard to come by!

3. We had some great small group fights with FA on the bridge south of Hills. We outnumbered them, but they were unshakable. It was a small group of extremely skilled players, with unusually well-coordinated attacks (a mix of CCs, condition stacking etc). When we’d down one of them, they would put up a barrage of CC, knockdowns and have their ally up in no time. They were a real challenge and frustratingly pleasurable to fight!

Aside from Bredin’s lovely post, we get this at times too. It’s always a sure sign that your running around with the trash talkers guts stuck to the bottom of your shoe. You just wish at precisely that moment that ANET was selling hankies on the gem market so you could pass the mealy mouthed kid something to dry his tears and blow his nose on.

That being said, it is one heck of a fight, good luck to all parties involved.

But my god, I’ve NEVER seen FA use more trebs on anything ever. A wooden keep with ALL the walls down, and you keep building trebs. I actually even partied one of you and reminded you that you left the north/south inner gates up.

I like posts like these. They make me laugh.

Lots of people on FA run around in a ‘zerg ball.’ Lots of people on TC run around in a ‘zerg ball.’ Lots of people on KN run around in a ‘zerg ball.’

So what?

There are crews on TC that specialize in small-scale pvp that ‘wipe’ FA zergs. There are KN groups that specialize in small-scale pvp that ‘wipe’ FA zergs.

There are groups on FA that specialize in small-scale pvp that ‘wipe’ TC zergs. And, you know what? There are groups on TC that specialize in small-scale pvp that ‘wipe’ KN zergs.

At the end of the week there is one metric that matters: was it fun?

All of the chest thumping, whining, and revealing of conspiracy theories that is done just makes one side look sore. Sore loser, sore winner…. it doesn’t matter. Just sore.

To me, it looks like the week went awesomely well. One server FA started out strong and petered out while another TC battled it out and overtook the lead. KN had a quiet week but that’s to be expected (in my view) after a few strong weeks. WvW burn-out is a real thing.

I always find it interesting to watch the general “feel” of a server as the match progresses and how their morale holds up.

What does a 5 man SPvP team accomplish in WvW anyway?, I mean seriously, besides supply camps and harrasing solo roamers…

They pretty much harass stragglers and pug zergs. They are pretty effective against unorganised groups that aren’t too big, but I feel like most of the zergs in this tier are too big for them to be able to do anything to.

They do harass stragglers quite a bit. Those trying to get back to the battle….5 on 1…now there is a challenge for them for all their bellowing about looking for good fights.

I actually find it quite sad myself how we will watch as a TC zerg ignores us, while we rip into their rear, and the players that we catch do not make any attempt to fight back. The stragglers just sort of limp to their death trying desperately to rejoin the main mass. It’s like watching Bambii die over and over… I shed a plethora of internet tears each time we are roaming.

I know that those leading the TC zerg have bigger fish to fry sometimes but it does seem like they ascribe natural selection to their zerging.

So I was hearing something about FA is better than TC? I think I’ve only ever seen TC lose to them once and every other time it’s just a server to chase around for loot bags. Why do I keep hearing from random FA players added me to party that our server is trash?

Those players consider winning as wiping the other server. From judging your post you play for ppt and coverage am I right? Just differences of opinion. See you out there in your zerg ball.

Well considering we pushed you guys out of bay despite us having a numbers disadvantage for how long? Well over 2 hours before you managed to take it back. I’d say thats a victory in itself. But my god, I’ve NEVER seen FA use more trebs on anything ever. A wooden keep with ALL the walls down, and you keep building trebs. I actually even partied one of you and reminded you that you left the north/south inner gates up.

Nick, leet bag hunters never use lame trebs, trebs are only used to take PPT. Screenshot next time or it didn’t happen. ; )
