7+ hours on queue @ WvWvW
Because censorship is the most important part of the MMO business.
am not leaving sfr
If sfr means seafarer’s rest, which is a gold server, you’re gonna have to deal with the queues. Thats what you get for playing on a gold league server, even if you were there from the start. As other said, transfer to a lower (bottom silver/bronze league server) if you don’t want to deal with such long queues.
(And didn’t Anet say something about the queues not being first in first out? That it randomly chooses a player to let in?)
Please give us a keyring…
Moved from a NA Tier 1 server to an NA Tier 3 server = NO QUE whatsoever! Win!!!
Huh, Tier 1 server is my home server and I’ve yet to wait more than 3 hours during first day of the new season only. After that, the longest I’ve waited is 1 1/2 hours. Odd a 7 hour wait. Granted there are some funny weird que business going on. I’ve logged in, had guildies tell me they’ve been que’d to all for 20-30 min and then I get a pop before they do kind of odd, but that’s a different story.
Heavy Halo, Warrior JQ
the whole “transfer or deal with it” attitude is really getting on my nerves. Its just giving Anet a free pass on all the screw ups they have implimented in WvW and telling them they are doing a great job.
Transfer to a lower pop server or deal with it. This is not giving Anet a free pass; it is just not letting players get a free pass on their decision to stay on a stacked server.
Anet should not have given players the option to be shortsighted and stack server populations as high as they did. They should have released more WvW maps with lower population caps to combat zerg lag. But they didn’t. Players refused to wise up and compensate for that themselves. Enjoy your queue.
(edited by Overkillengine.6084)
Anet won’t change the queues. The limits are mostly set for server side optimization. The larger WvW population servers (ESPECIALLY the stacked T1 servers in EU/NA) the longer queues. If you don’t want queues, either queue for borderlands (which normally have a much smaller queue because its not the EB farm-fest), or transfer. That’s the bottom line. People stacked servers, they’ll have to suffer very long queues.
I don’t see why people are blaming anet. They didn’t decrease queues when leagues came out. It was the PLAYERS who decided to try to game the system by stacking to 3 servers. The queue problem is not anets fault (at least the length..the buggy queues are).
As a TC’er i get frustrated with queues, but I’ve been here since the beginning. I won’t leave, but I won’t blame anet. I’ll adapt and just deal with the queues. If you’re on a gold league server, you’ll just have to deal, or transfer. Anet won’t increase the queue size, there is nothing wrong with it.

Not all Gold-Tier servers have absurdly long queues. Haven’t experienced anything longer than 30 min on Mag; usually it is instantaneous.
Also, consider the fact that increasing the WvW map size will make the game less competitive for most players. Playing against a server that is always queued when yours is not means that you have to play at a disadvantage while your opponent doesn’t have to work as hard to win. An across-the-board increase of the map population cap would make this asymmetry more severe.
It seems likely that only 4 NA servers have queues as often as you describe. Since WvW involves 3 teams, you are looking at improving the quality of at most 1 matchup. Already, active WvW population and timezone coverage are the primary determiners of a server’s success. By increasing the map population cap, a queued server that is going against unqueued ones would have an even greater advantage, as changing the capacity of the maps would not create new players to play for disadvantaged servers.
So after getting upset about my queue times last night, I found out that there is a way that guilds are bypassing everyone in the queue. They are getting their players in first and this is why we are waiting forever in queue. FIX THIS PLZ ANET! Thank you.
Community matters – these server transfers have wrecked the communities that have built up over time. People can’t play with their guilds, familiar faces can’t get in, etc.
Sure, you can leave your guild and transfer solo to a new server, but the community lost is irretrievable.
I know this is hindsight on my part (I didn’t pay attention, just played the game), but the combination of achievements and transfers have really destroyed something precious, IMO.

It’s bugged, and you should know better than to queue up for EB. :P
I like how Anet used to talk about server pride and such during the early days but with how the league works, essentially it kills T1 servers communities by forcing them to leave for another server just to be able to play WvW again.
And with the league this will most likely just be a continuous repeat that will occur over and over for whoever becomes the new T1 servers.
IT’S NOT A QUEUE PEOPLE, IT’S A POOL….
Archeage = Farmville with PK
Sat in queue for 45 minutes to get in. Finally get in and my game bugs out for some reaon none of my utilities work. Leave WvW to relog.. get stuck in a queue for over half an hour… QUIT.
Why on earth would you implement leagues, with achievements (pve crowd) without upgrading your servers? And NO I am not gonna transfer; why should I be inconvenienced into having to leave my server because of this garbage!
(edited by Tommyknocker.6089)
Then enjoy your queue. It’s not going to change until you do.
That’s why back when transfers were free after release people should have been scouting out servers that had a queue time that they could tolerate.
If you didn’t it’s your fault for not doing so. My guild transferred multiple times to lower tiers as bandwagoners tried to stack servers in the first few months. Now we are on a server where we rarely have a queue during our preferred timeslot; and there is often a good fight to be had.
Anyone here dissatisfied with their experience has only themselves to blame.
Am I the only one who feels that players using a character with a higher WvW rank ought to have greater priority in the queues? You’ve had a year to get into WvW, if you’re just getting into it now… you shouldn’t be getting in before someone several hundred ranks higher than you.

Well lets go one step further even, high rank, was able to be in pre-release goes before you, and add closed beta onto that and they get in before anyone, and the people selected from the closed beta that test new content for Anet they get in before anyone cause their that special

World Rank doesn’t necessarily prove how skilled you are in WvW, per se. You could be a part of that karma train, riding through keeps and towers simply for WXP. You could be a scrub that melts in a zerg, but thanks to your 200 WR, you’ll get in way before that commander or guild member that could contribute to WvW more than yourself.

You forgot that before, it killed T2 and T3 servers communities because those persons transferred to higher tiers.
7+ hours on queue @ WvWvW ! unacceptable !!!!
Transfer to a lower tier server, I haven’t been que’s since game launch. Don’t worry you’ll still be able to zerg, just on a smaller tier.
I love the low tier WvW, it where real PVP happens!
I apologize, If you didn’t outnumber me, it wasn’t a fair fight
I think this is comical.

I think it’s hilarious too; people stacked to win and now are finding out it wasn’t the land of milk and honey they thought it would be after all.
It’s ok, ANET is adding a new over flow map just for T1.
It’s ok, ANET is adding a new over flow map just for T1.
Like they changed the original matchup system for T1, too.
I understand server loyalty and not everyone is going to be willing or able to afford the high transfer cost to move to another server.
However, if you are seriously frustrated with the ridiculous queue time and skill lag and just want to play You Should Read This.
Come Join Northern Shiverpeaks
You are already locked in with however well/bad your home server does so it doesn’t matter if you stay there at this point. Face it – how much are you really contributing sitting in the queue for hours anyway? and how much fun are you honestly having right now?
Northern Shiverpeaks managed to start the season as the last server in the silver league. Nobody expects them to be a threat this season. Prove Them Wrong!
Get your guild, your friends, the all the other players in LA waiting in the queue and come spend a week on NSP! We are only hours away from week/round 3 starting against Fort Aspenwood and Borlis Pass so come join us.
Everyone loves to root for the underdog! Help make NSP the biggest upset in Season 1!
This is insane, when i came home tonight i logged into GW and directly started to que for wvw, i knew from the start that making dinner (seeing the screen) wouldn’t be a problem now i have waited for +3 hours and this is just silly i go to the computer and move my toon every 15min not to get logged out. I might get in soon, but then i will only have like 45min of playing time before i need to log off.
Yes i could always change server, but i have my friends here and i have fun once i’m in but the waiting time is out of this world.
At this moment i would even buy a priority pass for let’s say 10€, i would even think twice about it, i just want to do what i think is fun.
I’m not sure when this overflow map comes, but i sure hope it’s sooner then later!
Vabbi is server exactly for you! small WvW community, no queues at all, yeah, join us and win easilly!
Low population server = lowest transfer price.
Tier 1 or not. There was no to little que. Now its ridiculous..
Been on SFR since day one, queues were nowhere near this bad, then came the numerous incidents that allowed people to freely transfer into my home server because “lel tier 1, let’s bandwagon alongside them so I think I’m good” lot, now this.
I’ve stopped playing my SFR a/c- with the increasing time gating (laurels, crafting , etc) and incoming ascended gears, coupled with crazy queue times, it’s just not even worth logging on for.
So, EU based player looking for suggestions as to a new home that doesn’t have queues during say 2-5pm USA eastern time (LF USA server). Silver league preferred.
Personally I’d like to see Anet force people off of overpopulated servers (particularly gold ones), letting people who have been on since the earliest days get priority to stay on and people who transferred out first, give them their gems back just get people divided into servers properly.
First of all why is NSP using this thread to try to recruit people? Secondly like so many others said blame the bandwagoners, and pve achievements for the long queues. Thirdly Anet gave you warning and opportunity to transfer for free.
If the only choice is to leave the community that I know, then I’ll just leave the game.
I don’t see why so many of you are so callous about this. A lot of people had a good thing going, logging in and having fun with people and situations they knew. That’s been destroyed by these changes.

Got to agree. Also reading through this I see a lot of ignorance towards “t1” servers and queues. You know hundreds of players had no idea JQ, BG, SoR would be t1 when they rolled there at launch. I understand some hate for transfers and what they have done to the queues, but to peg all the people in here that complain about the queue times is foolish.
I am glad many of you don’t have the 2 to 5 hour EB queues, but for us that have been “original” server members and did not just transfer in, I’m not server hoping to another server and leaving the ability to WvW with my guild/friends.

At launch, SoR wouldn’t even have dreamed of being number 1. BG wasn’t there either. Over the course of several months, with people transferring, and people quitting the game, and people quitting WvW, BG and SoR climbed up to number 1.
I would say that a lot of the current JQ, BG, and SoR WvW players weren’t there at launch.
This is a problem outside of T1 servers. For example, Borlis Pass is queue with people trying to get on to our own borderland, while Fort Aspenwood is able to roll around at will with 3-5 times our numbers. Any concept of ‘fair’ is lost entirely. I want challenges, not to either be or be faced with baby seals. The primary determinant of outcome frequently is population, rather than the actual contest. Arenanet, please make it possible for people who do want to get to a fight, to do so, rather than make it a contest of who can most fill up the queues.
idk what OP is talking about
i just xfered to SoR and had between 20-30 min during prime time

That, and some of us have been playing in WvW since launch but we don’t live in WvW or we switched to a different character and had to start all over, never mind all the newer players. The game is supposed to have some semblance of being friendly toward alts, casuals and new players. It’s everyone’s game. We all payed (relatively) the same box fee. The only thing the queue should be based on is when someone joins it.
As I said elsewhere, achievements are not unique to PvE. PvP has them, too. Also, the only ones that don’t involve direct WvW objectives are the JPs. I think it’s hysterical when people make fun of ruin cappers as “PvErs” when that’s where some of the best PvP battles take place.
Achievements are profitable and the more WvW has, the more I can participate in WvW to gear for WvW instead of having to do PvE content I don’t want to do.
(edited by Aly Cat.9415)
I think this is comical.
I do feel for the players who are stuck in queue for several hours at a time as I’ve been there myself, but I have to admit I’m guilty of chuckling at this a bit too. This goes through my head whenever I read the plethora of forum posts about long queues lately:
“Your WvW participation is important to us. Please continue to wait in queue for the next available Borderlands slot. We appreciate your patience. "
The queues do suck.
My guild started in JQ; we moved en mass to SoR prior to their bandwagoning; and hopped a couple other times down tier to ensure that we had tolerable queue times.
If you want short WvW queues; you should not have joined a full/high population server without doing some research. (PvE wise pop does not really matter due to guesting so that’s not a valid excuse to use.) If you joined back when transfers were free, and did not move and made no effort to get your community to move with you down tier, you are a willing part of the problem and I have little pity for you.
Server software has limits. They can’t just arbitrarily up the population caps in the BL zones without risking catastrophic software failure. Then NO ONE on your server gets WvW until they fix it.
So you have a choice; either accept the queue or transfer down.
I know it sucks to not have everything. I really want a couple million dollars and a pony that shoots lasers from its eyes, but if I don’t do what it takes to get them then I probably don’t deserve them.
First of all why is NSP using this thread to try to recruit people? Secondly like so many others said blame the bandwagoners, and pve achievements for the long queues. Thirdly Anet gave you warning and opportunity to transfer for free.
Im sorry you are very misinformed, US servers minimum transfer cost the week before leagues was 750 gems for 3 servers. Even Anvil Rock was the full price of 1800 gems and they were the last place server in WvW at that moment
so your third point is entirely incorrect for anyone playing on US Servers
Most of these thread is:
“I bandwagoned and stacked on a server to get a chest, but I dont like the achievements, pve (lol chest) and the queues related to my poor thought process. No matter what is better for me, I shall stand with “my” 4th home server no matter what!"
Because censorship is the most important part of the MMO business.
Just checking in to see if still comical. Not disappointed.

Someone needs to modify this:
the whole “transfer or deal with it” attitude is really getting on my nerves. Its just giving Anet a free pass on all the screw ups they have implimented in WvW and telling them they are doing a great job.
Considering it is also punishing those that attempted to prosper by it, I think it is still something of a win, and probably the best the otherwise captive audience can hope for.
