A question for WvW guilds(WvW is dying)
Old guilds going, news comming.
Just the WvW

True what Wolfy said, old ones are going, new ones are coming. But the other thing is that ANET don’t do much about wvw, they do a lot about pve, but there is a large number of people which don’t like pve. (I’m one of them), it’s just boring. How long are we waiting for guild commander tags etc? From nearly start?

Agreed with Wolfy. Been seeing some new faces, including our own. Its the circle of life in wvw. Eventually the older guilds burn out. Newer guilds take their place. Some of the older guilds will come back eventually, but not all.
The “last seen tool” is proving its worth here. Over 3/4 of our 150+ guild haven’t been seen in over a month. Mid-term and final exams are a part of that, but so are “other games” and the stone cold silence we’re getting from Anet.
The AoE cap and blob-rezzing have been two of the main things driving people I’ve played with/fought against away from WvW or the game completely.
Its a self fulfilling prophecy.
Players leave due to lack of updates. Dev sees declining player base and lack of revenue so attention is put elsewhere. Cycle repeats.....
Let’s face it, nobody is getting attention right now. There hasn’t been a dev post of detail on any of these forums in a month. They’re focusing all resources on China release, they must consider NA/EU release to be a lost cause.

Not a lost cause, I think it’s more along these lines:
- The players bought our game
- Gems are not being purchased enough
- We don’t bring any update of worth
- Player numbers will decrease
- Less servers are needed
- ??
- PROFIT!
From my perspective, I dont believe it’s lack of updates which is causing people to leave wvw, although surely it would help to keep people interested if there was new content (and no EOTM doesn’t count as new wvw content)
What I see as the problem was the rating system which was implemented what, 10-12 months ago. Anet thought stagnant matchups were a problem? Well tiny servers getting high ratings for “doing well” vs zerg servers means those tiny servers are constantly matched up with zerg zervers.
The matches are all blowouts. Right now our server can barely hold 1/4 total, and what we do have is paper reflips. Other server has 3/4 of everything, but the third server has literally 0, nothing. Not even sentries. And we’ve been playing against them for 3 weeks, it’s the same every week for those guys, they never have anything despite having good players and fighters, they just cant compete with the numbers they’re matched with and neither can we.
For it to go on for this long, it feels like intentional design to create blowout matches rather than close and exciting games. Add to that, the implementation of the border bloodlust buff, adding even more rewards for the servers that have enough spare people to keep the buff up constantly. Anet didn’t want to add stats to the outnumbered buff, but they wanted to add stats for the people doing the outnumbering? Makes no sense.
Add to that, the ram traits. Now it’s almost impossible for a few people to hold a tower vs many, since even fully traited arrow carts can’t get someone off a ram, let alone destroy it. Which I believe is another intentional design to force players into a “zerg and reflip, dont upgrade, dont defend” mentality. Is karma trains really what we want to do in every game mode? Is that sound design?
And the thing I dont understand is that blowout matches dont cause people to play more, it causes them to get bored and annoyed and quit, and this hurts Anet’s bottom line. Sure it’s a decent short term strategy to turn wvw into a mindless karma train stompfest for populated servers, giving them someone to beat on. But when there’s literally nobody left to beat on, what then?

I won’t even bother to log-in this week. A T4 server against a T2. They have more than 10x our numbers in WvW. No point at all.
Old guilds going, news comming.
That kind of optimism is nice but it’s not realistic. I doubt the amount of new players is keeping pace with the amount of people leaving this game. MMOs lose players over time, GW2 is no exception and WvWvW is plagued with obvious design flaws. What I think it happening is guild rosters are drying up and remaining players are seeking refuge under new tags.

I’m so close to leaving WvW all together myself. I agree a 100%.
People have simply got tired of bashing heads on brick walls, frustrated that Anet refuse to listen to consumer suggestions and ignore the issues in class balance, its design problems and WVW blobaganda. What little support is directed to these forums by Anet to form its “consumer suggestions etc” which with its draconian rulings, often deletes some very good and pinpoint issues under the guise of breaking match discussion rulings etc. The problem with that is without naming and shaming servers etc, there is no direction to go on other than someone spouting off an issue. Therefore nothing is done – so it is very clear that many complaints and suggestions go into the trash bin.
My friend recently lost a lot of gold during the some bug with mail transfers, days later his hard earned gold is still missing, Anet have still not done anything about it or even acknowledged his complaint. When you are faced with a company working under these constant and unprofessional practices, its any wonder why we noting the number of players diminishing.
Anet is now going to be concentrating on China , is logical as they can spin the same hashed out issues to a new set of faces and eager to collect on the growing economy there. The only lining to the otherwise dull cloud is they will continue the same customer service “coughs” as they did with the western economic market and Anet will have a rotating self fulling prophecy. They were told about the issues, they don’t care further than boring PVE and Esports – best bet is to look up whats coming up in new games as many do take note of the competition and hammer them in the weak spots to move players to their platform.
Worth checking out the gaming forums and magazines just what gaming companies are placing against the competing market – note who is offering the better player satisfaction and move on to the one that gives you best satisfaction like some players have done on FF and ESO .
AS for WVW, well the coverage wars stink. My rewards are based on Anet placing a few free transfers to certain servers early in the season, allow massive servers to 2 vs 1 against smaller ones, the hackers, the cheats and all the rest etc. So yeah I think many feel the same sadly, simply had enough and gone to spend hard earned money elsewhere.

Some of us have already started playing other games, even though that game is in early alpha stages atm!
We all warned anet, if you dont fix things or update things for wvw, you will lose players to other games. They refused to listen, simple as.
