I think the easiest way would be to do something like this:

10 or less people tagged the enemy you killed? Full WXP.
20 or less people tagged the enemy you killed? Half WXP.
20+ people tagged the enemy you killed? 1/4 WXP

Round down in all calculations so someone worth 3 WXP hit by 10-20 would be worth 1 EXP and 0 WXP to 20+.

People would avoid zergs. That, and make defending worth a LOT more WXP. Make escorting yaks worth something too.

Orrrrr….you can get another blob and beat it the old fashioned way in a nice, epic fight.

Seriously, if you want small scale battles you can:
1) go to the other side of the map where the blob isn’t
2) play in one of the multiple arenas
3) transfer to a low pop server or
4) quit the game which will serve multiple purposes of reducing the population and keeping the blob from annoying you.

I don’t think increasing the AOE limit will fix things. Zergs will adapt and it’ll be who has more people to AOE and turn the battlefield into a stalemate because neither can cross the area denied.

Especially on bridges. Bridge Wars 2.

Throw Balista(s) on the floor, put supply in, collect bags. If this doesnt work, then you’re way outmanned. Then split your group and defend against the zerg using structures to gain advantage while PvDooring the other side of the map.

Solution is simple.

WvWvW ma kitten ectioned off in quadrants. If the number of players from a server exceeds a predetermined number,say 50 people in that quadrant. Then they are flagged for FULL LEWT should they die!!!!!

There should be no penalties for winning strategies, evolve and adapt around blobs or join them. If you don’t like fighting large groups of people, there is always T8 and sPvP.

As a side note, even I think the AoE limit should be increased to at least 10 targets.

I can see how being a small group facing a large zerg can get frustrating, but honestly, the 40v40, or even 60v60 fights Ive been in have been some of the most epic fights I’ve had in GW2! If you’re a small group, you can still be effective, but maybe trying to find fights in open field isn’t what you want to do. I run in small groups decently often, and we flip camps, ninja towers/keeps…we just stay wary of the enemy zerg

I see nothing here that has any effect on large scale grouping.

As for wxp being the driver to ‘blob’ thats frankly a foolish thought. WXP has next to zero benefit – you gain more benefit spending a couple of silver on food from the AH.

And minus culling I don’t mind the blob – 3 way clashes of 100s of people are quite fun – just like to see defensive structures be a little more robust and siege be a little more varied.

Get super organized!!! And attack other map with a small force.
The skill lag problem?
Keep pressing Anet.
To wall the people crying, many times when I arrive to EB, I ask the state of the towers, some kind soul reply to me WC is T3. I think, ok fine. 1 minute later the alarm sounds, huge blob in WC. Ok it’s time to run fast inside, because I’m a ranger I run fast to go inside (9 in 10 times I can make it) and…surprise not a single siege to defend, +80% of the times the tower will be lost.

This. Zergs are good and most people calling for them to be removed don’t understand how integral they are to how WvW works. Half the threads on the WvW forum are focused on “getting rid of the zerg” as if it was some sort of impediment to fun, but the alternative to mass-group play is usually much worse.

There’s nothing wrong with brute force in numbers being a very effective strategy, and for all its faults zerg v. zerg is relatively balanced just due to the huge variance.

Maybe it’s time to upgrade your computer and connection because mine runs just fine.

Skill lag when blobs meet is a fact… You can even tell when a zerg is nearby by responsivness (and framerates for that matter) tanking, when you havent even it yet. Stone mist center is the most noticable example. 100+ inside – hilarious 2+ hours battles of 30s-1min skill delay. Enemies cant hurt you and you cant hurt them.

I have no problem with skill lag except for huge 3 way battles at keeps/SMC this will hopefully be fixed soon and we can continue our epic battles for keeps while you cry on the forums because you do not know how to havoc squad. I think sPvP is a better place for you.

This person is correct.

When defending, you need to spend a fortune on siege weapons to beat huge numbers of attackers. This is a flaw because

  • if there are fewer people defending then the cost-of-siege-per-attendee is much higher for the defenders than for the attackers,
  • the attackers can simply move to another gate/wall to avoid the siege-fire and then the defenders have to pay a fortune again,
  • siege disappears after 30 minutes, so the whole “pay-to-defend” thing is really off-putting because there’s no point building siege on the off-chance that the enemy attack that specific gate/wall within that timespan.
Nobody at Anet loves WvW like Grouch loved PvP. That’s what we need, a WvW Grouch, but taller.

and arrow carts of course ,now some limited mobility fire support would be intresting.

Zergs are mostly at the mob level of tactics but it is intresting to see over the weeks how the mobs with better commanders have become more organized and flexible.

That will continue armies are not made in weeks or commander skills with the purchase of a blue icon.

Make it so that map control means something and isn’t just for the 10 minute score update and wvw might actually deserve to be called pvp. If WoW can make a large scale pvp map (Tol Barad) that requires strategic play and makes zerglings lose I don’t see why GW2 can’t top it.

I’d be happy already, if there were small platforms on the back of the walls, where you could safely drop down arrowcarts.
Most minimalistic change and gives us ways to fend off the blob better, as they’d have to bring actual siege to take down arrowcarts.

The only crime, turrets committed, is being good against the celestial meta.
The mob has spoken and the turrets shall be burnt at the stake.

Blobing is happening because skilled played are to good and the not so good players can’t handle them and they use there number to make skilled players get skill lag.
I think game creators wanted to make game more tactical, not no thinking one skill spamming, lagging server and winning only, because they have biger number witch meaning more player can some time use skills and so win the fight because other team has skill lag and get less skills out, because they have less numbers.

If you are fan of blobing you need auto target on, auto attack on first skill and run next to commander tag and don’t think leave thinking to commander if you are thinking you probably are to away from commander by that time.
If it’s to hard for you to understand what i am saying i will write it simple W Tab.

So to destroy blob is simply let the blobers think and from thinking they will stop blobing and became good players by thinking how to play.
