Colin and I were having lunch a short while ago. During lunch we were sharing experiences from Adopt-a-Dev. He started talking about this amazing moment he had while on scouting duty where he spotted an attack on Stone Mist castle that was happening from the inside and was able to call in reinforcements in time to thwart it. Halfway through I stopped him and cursed his name. He was confused at my reaction until I told him that the attack he stopped was the one from my guild, DmD and I was part of that attack. He correctly guessed that we snuck a mesmer into the castle after IOJ took down one of their walls.

We would have gotten away with it too if it weren’t for them darned kids scout!

sighs oh lord help me.
I shall laugh about this for a while and possibly cry as well.

Which part made you laugh? The fact of scouting duty or when they compare the loot gained from their respective activities? Or perhaps just the “freshness” of something routine?

Sounds like you may have a spy in your midst

I’m hoping that there are a few devs joining guilds “in the wild” without revealing themselves as devs until after. I think it would be interesting to see if they ended up with a different perspective.

How to make a better wvw (pve and spvp too) experience…

Step 1- Take a few lessons from gw1 and city of heroes profession designs.

Step 2- Design interesting and rewarding objectives for small “strike force” teams to complete so we have something fun and meaningful to do instead of zerg stacking and door bashing while breaking #1 and F our keyboards.

Sorry, not trying to sound negative, but after 2 years I’m a bit disappointed that we are still in the info gathering stage. I’m sure many players would rather see patch notes with meaningful changes and additions made instead of this.

Just wanted to introduce myself. I’m a server programmer here at ArenaNet and am excited to be part of the Adopt-A-Dev program for the WvW fall tournament.

I will be running with the League of Tyrian Adventurers [LoTA] on Kaineng. While Kaineng isn’t in the top tier, it is my home. I’ve been with it since starting the game and I feel a sense of allegiance towards it – so I hope I can help in some small way.

Regardless, this will be a lot of fun. If you see me in game, I am usually the big Charr Engineer named Vox Machinum. Say hi if you see me.

So we have a dev after all! I hope Anet considers your perspective just as much as all the devs playing in Gold league. It can be hell on lower tiers, with barely a wvw population to speak of at times. I’d rather deal with queues on higher tiers than wander aimlessly through empty borderlands.

Update on my Adopted Dev’s Progress.

Sea of Sorrows struck from behind a tall hillock. Pat popped his anet tag in defiance.

We failed, surely this was because Pat didn’t have a commander tag! So we decided to start a fund raiser which lasted 97 seconds, Pat recieved over 300g, 2 swim boosters, the flag backpack thing and 27 stacks of black lion chests.

Pat was short a few badges needed for the tag so we decided on a trip to the source of all badges, EoTM.

Thanks Tarnished Coast for putting up an amazing fight toward the end of Round 1. We were only 1.1k behind Jade Quarry at reset, and managed to close in to less than 700 behind at one point. Those were some great fights.

That devs are actively discussing MATCH UPS and according to forum rules this is strictly FORBIDDEN.

We lost more bothers and sisters to moderators killing our posts than we lost in battlefield because of this rule.

This is just a reminder how pathetic is the NO MU discussion rule.

Well I would like to see the responses of Devs that are on server’s getting waffle-stomped. BS is continuously outnumbered on all maps, it was like that last week and again this week. It will be like that next week and the week after. I would like to see how fun the Devs think that is? Are there any Devs on servers at the bottom of tiers? It’s great to be on a competitive server but so many are not… Spoon

Are any of you ANET employees / developers playing on Anvil Rock? I really wish I had known about this sooner as I may have ‘applied’ (for my guild to host a dev) myself. Some devs should ahve used upscaleds and not joined guilds, to get a more rounded picture of what casual wvw is like.

Instead they all joined active guilds and will come away with a completely skewed view of what wvw is really like week in week out.

You don’t know if they used Upscales or not. Thats an assumption on your part.

As for a skewed view, there is no way to get a perfect view but anyone can see that there has been alot more discussion on these boards then prior to the Adopt-A-Dev program.

Any understanding of the game and what players like and dislike is better then none. This is quite alot of personal time to put into a project and I think its been a good experience for both Devs and the servers they are on.

From what I’ve heard NVP on Darkhaven was the talk of the office the other day!

A huge thanks to the A.net person who has been on once, with his/her, up-lvl, (good job there)

I killed a dev tonight. How come no precursor dropped?

Mag’ has seen the devs….mostly on the other servers, as they spawn camp 30 of us with 70! We have only seen our up-lvl, dev once. (Is she/he spending the season levelling up?)

Its nice to see the devs in WvW (even if its in groups of 40 plus chasing down 3 players)

For Mag’ its been an all round null and void experience,

Sad to see Desolation didn’t get a dev or at least I haven’t heard about one joining us. Maybe we can steal one from Kodash for the remaining time of the tournament?

WvW has many people using supply to waste it for the sake of there own sever.
Banning is not working as these are new accounts that are made just to do this.

The best way to solve this is to make supply personal, Example:

I can take supply to build some thing but I can only build one item at a time.
and have to wait 5 minuets before the next item can be built. If I wish to place another item it must be over a range of 5000.

This way one item per person.

Yaks bend can have their arrow carts but can’t send a troll to the other sever to waste their supply.

This guy was named out as the main guy for yaks bend.
banning is not the right way. If he gets banned so what he makes new account.
and is back in a day.

pqxgeno.2695 made 100 + superior rams, for his sever

draining all the supply all day and then that night there server strikes.
It’s not one guy doing this it’s an entire sever planing and using gray area exploits.

Please fix this so you don’t lose all your players. lots my self included are talking about leaving Guild Wars for reasons like this one. 2 guilds of 300+ that I was in left for arch age, due to this stuff.
