I know that there is already a thread on this but it is now 300 replies long and ANet has responded to it once. I don’t know if their response is all they need to address this issue or whatnot but I wanted to write something more formal.

TLDR: ANet, Invisible enemies is a critical issue that needs to be resolved ASAP. We need more information, regular information, and we need to know that this is important on ANet’s list of priorities.

Dev team,

I love your game, I have played this game almost religiously since release and I have not had this much fun since (the legendary) UO days.

However, WvW has become a mess since the patch. The community is getting frustrated and we feel that our needs are not being addressed because there has been no communication except for this.

This is not just a serious issue. This is a critical, game breaking issue for WvW. People are getting frustrated because we deserve and expect more from a game that we paid for to be honest. I’ve only been in WvW because of the incredible matchup between Yaks, SoR and NSP. It’s too tight for the competitive side of me not to overlook this.

Why is WvW critical? Because it fosters your community in an incredible way I haven’t seen in any other game in my entire gaming “career” (10+ years). Just read the Yaks, SoR and NSP thread, the sportsmanship and respect is excellent. It is retaining a lot of your players and creating a gaming experience that strongly differentiates you from other MMOs.

My recommendations
1. Fix this issue ASAP. If I was running this project, my team would be in the office 24/7 until this is done because you are possibly losing players by the day. The longer you take, the faster the rate accelerates because people are losing faith in your ability to respond. People’s frustration is turning into despair.

2. If you really can’t find a fix in a reasonable time, put it back to the old rendering model until you can. Do not leave the game like this any longer than you already have.

There are countless photos of this ridiculous problem but here are some of my experiences

1. Dying in the middle of walking back to a keep because I was hit by multiple enemies without ever seeing them

2. Coordinating a team to hold a chokepoint and then nobody seeing the team come up the stairs. Needless to say we wiped with chokepoint advantage and greater numbers. It is strategically tilting WvW in a way where strategy doesn’t matter any longer. People are complaining about zerg when there is in fact a lot of strategy. Invisible enemies are actually turning your well designed strategic WvW maps into a zerg.

I don’t need to belabor the point, read the threads, read your in game chat. You are at a “crisis point” and you need to react accordingly.

I’d like to agree with the OP. He has hit it spot on the money with each point. The OP did miss a different ANET rep post on a different thread about this issue that was a more comprehensive statement and said they were looking into this issue. I would like to add that this issue is of such a serious nature that it could very well cause the failure of one of the best MMO’s and PVP/WvW combat systems i’ve played in 14 years of playing PC based MMO’s. ANET would be doing its very large and active WvW community a huge service by releasing a updated statement on this seriously critical issue. A statement on the current progress would reassure its active player community. It might also do much to head off changing the internet game reviews from “an awesome game i highly recommend, one of the best of the year” to “its a bit like playing Armada on a Commadore 64 in 1984 but with more lag and worse graphics.” All humor aside would you ANET please tell us something about the progress on this issue. Thank you for your time and our patience.

Happened to me a few hours ago.. I imagined it would be just the game taking its time to render but its not normal if it takes more than 10 seconds. Its like the game forgets that it should render players.

The main issue is that the server simply does not/cannot send location data for every player within your range. A few things that could help this is to some how lower the amount of information required to render a target, at a minimum just have their location. One-size-fits-all character models for each race and gender on the enemy team should also help this as well. I haven’t noticed this being completely implemented but there are aspects of it.
