Roleplay value:
Orb is capped, epicly escorted to the keep, in there it is placed on the Orb platform where everyone can come and channel the power of the Orb into themselves. (like channeling to a skill point)

Aka, Orb buff is claimed by interacting with the orb. Done…

I can just imagine people deliberately taking the orb thing just to mess with GVG’s, especially when it’s covered on all 3 maps. Also for fightclubs, a sudden change in stats is tedious. Isn’t that sort of trolling something you wanted to avoid Hugh?

Right click, disable buff until logout. You will save yourself many angry customers with that simple fix Anet.

I also really hope that the WvW team would maybe consider a fourth map for GvG, like the area behind the windmill, some day, where all the servers would have the same bonuses. Please.

I assume this is for GvG battles to make sure they are even ? might be useful to include why you want it. But yea it could be useful.

easy solution, it would save a lot of informal pvp events and change nothing about the new mechanic.

Sounds good to me. I don’t indulge much in either activity myself, but it’s pretty obvious that both GvG and duelling are a big part of the current WvW scene. So simple options like this will work wonders for keeping things competitive for these playstyles.

Agreed. No reason why we shouldn’t be able to disable it if we want to. I’d rather keep 1 on 1 fights fair.

GvG is.. well… not an option supported by Arena.Net yet… maybe in another game you will find what you are looking for.

The most important part of the buff is the points on staked player.
If you are in a Borderland you will be wanting these points for your team.

Don’t forget this, if you get the buff taken off you will not be supporting your server.

GvGs and Fight clubs don’t score points at that moment anyway, except for the maybe 1 or 2 stomps that will only count for one as it will be within a timespan which is countered by anet.

Im sorry man, but if I chose to disable my orb buff thats my choice and it doesnt effect you or WvW in the least. Therefore your argument has no merit and is best kept to yourself.

Sigh… Arenanet really needs to implement a proper GvG and Duelling Arena to stop these kind of threads…

i personally hope that the orb buff makes everything completely uneven so that these fight clubs and gvg things can just stop already

This is not a solution for GvG, this is a bandaid. I think it is a fine feature to cool the whining going on but they need to divorce WvW and GvG completely as the communities identifiable to either are becoming intolerable.

I disapprove stat buffs in general but this would be a great fix for those that want fair fights or no buff at all

Even ignoring GvG, I would do this in normal open field combat. Unfair stat advantages due to superior numbers and coverage in otherwise fair fights bothers me.

Dear Devon and other WvW developers,

Please allow a toggle feature on the orb buffs via the WvW menu that allows us to choose whether we would have the buffs active on our characters or not. It will resolve a lot of issues and save a lot of anguish for 40-50 active WvW guilds.

Roamers benefit from the buff, fair fights are not intended in WvW.

I don’t like the idea of people being able to turn the buff on or off whenever they want.

Either:
1. Always keep it on when the server earns it
2. Allow the player to remove the buff and it stays off until the next daily reset.

It’s substantially less satisfying to beat someone when you have an advantage that they can’t get.
