Right now we are struggling on TC map because these kids are kill trading. It effects a actual game mode negatively and needs to be put to an end. As a community have already asked them to hold their kill trading till before reset, but they have refused plz do something Anet they are risking the effort put forth by the rest of there servers.
(edited by Thesilentflute.8761)
Make GvG a part of sPvP. There, fixed. But this is Anet. They’ll probably add cars to the game long before we get GvG…

Like idiotic kill trading? I would like all the loot, but none of the strategy or effort. Lets pretend this isn’t a joke what happens when your next match up for number 1 lol is on a server you will most likely never face at your current position what your going to spend 20-40g per person to xfer? Sabotage your servers current position?
Edit: Yea it did wonders for illum
(edited by Thesilentflute.8761)
Oh, I forgot WvW was renowned for the quality of its loot. You got me there.

This, other server has equally numbers there aswel. So numberwise everything stays fair. GvG is what kept many guilds in this game for so long. I think all the guilds should put in an effort and do it more.
WvW is casual, if you are trying to play GW2 hardcore, you are going to have a bad time.

It is a 3 way fight and even if it is = between the two of the three one always has more to lose by being idle.
lol I don’t know what you consider hard core, but some of us spend hours of our time most nights to achieve victory and you kill traders should have the consideration to not waste our efforts.

You mean the GvG community right that’s why we are having a discussion in the GvG forums.
(edited by Thesilentflute.8761)
You see I don’t mind GvG’s but seriously you can still play to win and have good fights plenty of guilds do both, sure you may face blobs often but it’s still enjoyable to try different tactics, cooperate with everyone else and take objectives for the points game when there is resistance ,even night capping is quite ‘hardcore’ in a sense.
When guilds are looking for fame rather than helping their community that’s a problem Anet has to figure out, there’s a time and place for GvG’s there should be less Elitism and more unity..
Guild Wars 2 has no GvG so it isn’t a reference towards that it has wvw which can be casual and hardcore as you make it, again I’ll say there’s a time and place for that and Anet needs to add some sort of GvG mode while the rest can still fight for their server.

This game called “Guild Wars 2”, not “standing at walls and pew-pew wars”. Just be grateful for having some sort of pve activity in PvP mode. I seriously don’t understand why we even need those towers, keeps, npc and other pve crap, but whatever. If you hate GvG so much, just go kill some dragons, save Tyria.

Even you guys have to agree that it would be better if you were able to GVG in the EXACT SAME fashion as you could in GW1. That is, guild hall (decked out with all sorts of stuff based on guild achievements) with a central arena for the GVG battle itself.
Add in a leaderboard, ranking system, GVG record tracking, or all of the above, and the minority of the minority that GVGs would probably grow exponentially.
There’s a significant difference between true GvG and kill trading.
I’d be wary of lumping the two together.
It is called Guild Wars 2 and you know who is winning the war the guilds on blackgate.
Lets pretend it isn’t kill trading.
The dumbing down and isolation of a game mode to fit your lv of understanding is a little ridiculous, but i get it now lol.
I will try my best to explain:
Without the towers keeps, and camps play would consist of one zerg running into another zerg. (like gvg)
STR A tegy allows smart people to win over larger enemy forces.
… that was way easier than I thought it would be.

Right, and I think most people would understand your point as far as WvW is concerned. However this game is seriously lacking an exclusively-deathmatch style PVP mode. GVG is the best way to have that match type, while keeping it relevant and exciting.

I am SO srry ppl r not playing the game the way u want them to, and that they r having fun with a game they paid for.
They r breaking no rules in setting up GVG’s, as soon as there GVG is done they jump right back into the PPT grind that Wvw iS. Anet needs to add a GVG hall like someone said, but that it will still affect WVW, cause now the same guilds in wvw will be in the hall, hurting ur numbers for WVW.

You have a good point man, but since the the teams are already limited to a fraction of actual guild size couldn’t this be done in 8v8 arena so it would not interrupt the play and flow of wvw?
To sykkob: Myself and hundreds of others all over the world are fighting for the same position in the rankings, and we are playing the game as intended in the world in the world that was created for us. About the hall thing there is a huge difference between not being in wvw and creating a spectacle that interrupts the flow of battle along with taking a large % of limited player slots.

theres 164 guilds registered on the gvg site alone.
a few thousand players is a significant portion of the active wvw playerbase.
are you saying people playing wvw are good? rofl 95% of wvw players are horrible at the game. those that are willing to gvg are atleast trying to improve themselves.
considering the gvg site hasn’t been around for that long, i’d assume most are still active.
edit: rofl nice deleted post. good troll
I wouldn’t mind GvG so much if it wasn’t for the horribly elitist attitudes that lots of the members seem to exhibit.
GvG-centric guilds have a purpose in WvW. You just need to figure out how to wind them up, point them at something, and let them go.

I would imagine it is because you can’t use the foods/oils that a lot of these guilds builds would suffer without. I also think that most guilds try to organize these outside of primetimes, to help with the “being interruptive” part.
Note: I don’t GvG, and I’m not terribly familiar with the scene itself, but it’s fairly rare that a guild will just stop working a map at 9pm server to go GVG.
I agree gvg is ruining wvw and needs to be fixed.

No! GvG should be encouraged. In fact I’d love to see a separate WvW map that was just the open field near the windmill. Let there be 10v 10 through 20v20. Let spectators watch. It would be more popular than the pvp spectator mode

Exactly. I can fight people or I can fight AC. Easy choice. GvG

87% of the statistics are false.

That’s exactly what we do. That’s also what spectators from all three sides do as well. Down here at T3, we can get an empty map queued with nothing but GvG related activity.
PPT is a measure of coverage. People need to get over the fact that a large amount of dedicated WvW players don’t care about it. NA seriously needs to catch up to the EU playstyle.
honestly most hardcore wvw guilds (like ZN the one i am in) spend every waking hour in the game WVWing. it gets boring fighting the same stuff over and over, GVG keeps guilds like mine alive, it gives us a challenge vs just blob vs blob, ninja camps and towers, and defend for no reward but feeling we did something useful the 4-12 hours we spent in wvw that night.
if there was no GVG happening in WVW there would be no few guilds left in gw2 let alone wvw. and when /if they add a GVG system (which i really hope they do because it would make setting these kitten things up so much easier)i feel WVW will be taken alot less srs and might possibly die. just my opinion as a hardcore WVWer

I am sry to hear that is the state of EU wvw, but it’s prolly the reason iron went to sor. Here on na we have amazing wvw communities that fight hard every day and night. lol about the gvg I doubt they would dumb down there own content when its a the masterpiece it is, but if they ever did I think you would find that it’s trash you talk about being tired of wvw imagine an instance where only 20 guild member could enter you would be in que for hours your two groups would smash into each other then its back to que. Imagine trying to maintain a 20 man roster have you guys even thought about these things its soo funny. After a losing streak how many players do you think you would lose? kitten think of how many guild members you would lose over it.
@ benjimen About coverage the top servers all have 24 hour coverage we each have strengths in diff time zones and for the most part very skilled commanders. Each week is a battle of who wants it more. It makes me sad that in tier 3 you don’t even try or at least that is the way you make it sound because on black gate we fought tooth and nail to rise through each tier not so long ago. Hopefully your just a bad representation of the people who put time in on your server.

Seeing as you get literally nothing for “winning” WvW, both the PPT lovers, and the GvG players are all playing for exactly the same thing; Pride, and imaginary points, on a leaderboard.
If you want GvG gone from WvW, the best thing you can do is help support, and promote the scene, and hope that anet gives us somewhere seperate to GvG. I don’t think anyone actually wants to GvG in WvW, we’d all rather we could do it somewhere else too.
You have to see though, that all threads like this do is create a circle jerk from both sides.
What do we gain from going up tiers? Skill lag and blobbing? Maguuma tries and does a real good job when we have people online, but our coverage will never be good enough to get us above servers that view recruiting as a skill. That’s a good thing. I enjoy the experience with the numbers here and the servers we face. I’ll repeat. I’m having fun playing this video game.
I find this obsession with a fairly meaningless number to be quite bizarre. I’m not playing to get the highest PPT at the end of the week. I’m playing to win the engagements that I’m involved in. Worrying about the realities that the server stacking and massive coverage differences have created does nothing good. It’s how people burn out and how servers implode.
I love how people think that annoying/boring/trolling/aggravating/alienating the most potent fighting forces on their server, will somehow improve their server’s performance.
(edited by Ragnar.4257)
Funniest thing about this is still comparing GvG to kill trading. Totally won me over with that.
Also you should really consider a vacation on an EU server. You’d learn a lot. I’d suggest Piken Square.
GvG being compared to trading kills?
Reading this post gave me cancer.

It pretty much goes to show they have no idea what they’re complaining about. As does the idea that sieging requires more thinking or tactics than GvG

No. The sPvP rule set would ruin it.
I agree gvg is ruining wvw and needs to be fixed.
This is backwards logic…. the reason why GvG is happening so much is because WvW is broken.
If this game encouraged and supported playing as a guild rather than forcing full map zergs, there wouldn’t need to be as much GvG activity because it would occur naturally while roaming like it did in DAOC regarding 8v8 fights.
Personally i’d love to see scaled maps solely for GvG with the same sort of format as the old GvG maps and objectives as in GW1, with an option to select the number of players you want to match up with: 5v5, 10v10, 15v15, 20v20, 25v25, 30v30, with an overall leaderboard and leaderboards for each section, and a decent matching system and being held over both EU and NA servers as one group rather than separating them out.
They would also need a few simple rules like no more than one of each class in 5v5, one of each class must be present in 10v10, no more than 3 of any class (and at least of of each class) in 15v15, etc to ensure people don’t just roll 30 guardians and run off to kill each other’s guild lords.
30 minute maximum match up, points and a bonus gained for holding central objective, match ends after 30 minutes or when a guild lord is killed, I’m sure some sort of points system can be added too.
WvW would still be popular as it offers more casual gameplay but the addition of watchable GvG matches would revitalise the entire pvp aspect of the game.

You know what effects the game negatively for me? Giant, brainless blobs running around farming WXP doing PvDoor. If those folks would break into smaller chunks and actually fight, learn to play better, instead of running to the nearest spot to build AC’s maybe those GvG folks would be out there contributing to the overall server goal and not feeling like they are forced to organize fights because it is the only way you can fight without having to deal with 3-5x your number.

Can’t say I didn’t tell you so.
For the love of god if Anet developers read this post…I am going to say this….BEFORE YOU FIX OR DO ANYTHING ELSE…if you implement a GvG Map and a leaderboard for guilds that GvG…it will keep people interested long enough for you to fix the other bullkitten that’s wrong wtih WvW….soo…please…don’t give us anymore WxP skills….don’t give us and more special effects or some “6 months from now I think we might have something decent for WvW, depending on if they its the third friday of the month and there is a full moon on that night and I ate brocolli last night…”…give us GvG’s….officially…
If something is good for the community, it’s GvG. People from all sides gather up, spectators duel, pigs are roasted, fireworks and dancing happens. Then the match begins with people cheering, watching the teams every move and 1 hour (give or take) of intense concentration and epic fights.
What’s not to love?
How someone chooses to play a game is their business so long as they aren’t cheating or adversely effecting other players. GvG’rs may use a handful of player slots on a map but they aren’t really adversely effecting other players since the other team will usually have a similar number offsetting them. If it is that bad, supporting an extra map is a decent option and certainly better than complaining about it.
Lol I have watched GvG matches it’s a joke It was only slightly more of a joke when we still had culling issues. Yea you do have people that watch, but its because they don’t know its a joke yet its a good thing you educate them lol.
Its funny you guys talk about zergs the way you do cause we all know that 20v20 is a completely different play style from the one you’re complaining about lol.
You guys are not pvpers because 20v20 in now way is a show of skill for any individual in them and you are counter productive wvwers as you sabotage the game mode to farm bags.
Last off no one would would even care if you did it before reset, but you can’t be bothered to not kitten over your servers.
I wonder why the OP left Blackgate, since it appears they are quite unhappy on TC. Better still, they should consider a move to JQ. None of the guilds support GvG apparently.
