Yes, WvW currently has quite a few mechanics that favor the dominating team instead of encouraging the underdogs.
Repair bills are one factor, although I find them to be fairly low all things considered. I’d still much rather see costs for waypoints (which are currently free) instead of repair bills.
The irony is that it would probably come down to the same 90% of the time, but players would disassociate death with repair bills (even though they’d still have to pay the waypoint costs).
The Orb buffs are obviously the pinnacle of this imbalance making already stronger opponents even harder to kill. I’m not sure how they pictured this working out.
Downed state is another mechanic that favors larger forces making it practically impossible to defeat a significantly larger force.
Removing repair costs would be a super bad idea because all the botters would go to Wv3 to farm, infact probably all of them. That would not be fun…
they don’t have to remove it, as fixit said they would be alot more bots in wvw, imo they just need to decrease it

TBH, even at lvl 80 with full exotic gear, repairs don’t cost a whole lot. I think it’s mostly just a psychological thing. I’m less likely to engage when I’m unsure of the outcome because I hate having to repair my gear. Hell, if it wasn’t for that, I’d happily just charge headlong into losing battles a lot of the time.

this is correct, it’s only 1s60c for 1 death (unsure if it increases with multiple pieces of damaged gear) for full exotics which isn’t a lot at all… you get 1s for killing a sentry which takes no effort at all even solo but like this guy said, no costs = suiciding, deaths should come at a price
if you see a zerg use your utility skills, as it’s what there used for to escape before you get put in combat
i run solo/duo in wvw 90% of the time, the other 10% it’s either for big coordinated or raiding supply camps and i’m making more money than i can spend
You can swap to Town Clothes before you die and avoid all repair costs. I’ve seen many people doing this lately.
the repair cost does indeed increase the more pieces of armor you have that get damaged. a normal repair cost for me is usually about 10 silver, which can add up pretty quickly if my server is getting pubstomped.
