Rewards shouldn’t be given away for winning matchups because people will just stack in a single server to win… It already happen for a chest with 2 blues and 1 green. What you think will happen if you give 100g away like that?
Rewards for defending walled objectives can be tricky… One can just dump a bit of supply in a damaged wall/gate and get participation for the defense event. This will incentive kittens to waste supplies to get their shineis. Also, they removed reward from yak escorts because of botting remember?
WvW can’t have nice things because people don’t know how to play nice. I’m actually impressed we got reward tracks which already allow afk farming behavior.
The only actual good idea in there is the asking for a vendor to sell ascended stuff in WvW. We already been asking this for ages. Altho crafting ascended currently is cheaper than buying the chests on the fractals even if you buy all the mats (considering the price of the stabilizing matrixes) which lead me to expect that if they ever add the ascended chests it will be super overpriced and likely not worth it.

Better rewards are needed yes, but not for the server’s placement. Individual players have very little control over that.
Rewards like those should be given based on the player’s contribution to the total. Ideally it should be easier to get better rewards on under-populated servers.
I’m just hoping we get our own WvW Legendary back piece and we also get the Mistforged Hero’s weapons reward track or however they implement. Asked it at the ama with no reply.
I dont want people being encouraged to go into wvw to farm stuff. The current reward system is fine, and a hell of a lot better then in the past. Making certain reward tracks repeatable is a reasonable request.

Literally the only think that needs to change is that there needs to be a WvW legendary backpack like pvp. The reward track is fine.

I respect that you are trying to think of a way to give more incentive for players to strive to defend more. Often in WvW they are really the unsung hero’s that make or break a matchup. but what you are talking about here is way too much gold and will lead to more problems like those mentioned in other post before mine. Also you’ll see more just logging in to stand in a keep with a second account to farm it if that much gold was offered.
As for rewards I still feel they are lacking and the heroic tokens should be dumped for battle points to buy with. Once again development had to put in a handicap gear edge against new or starting players…such /fail.
Rewards are tricky, if paid to the winner, people may tend to stack servers. If you pay them only to those with out manned buff, people may game the system or abuse fellow server members.
I would suggest introducing a line with an ascended WvW backpiece reward might split the difference?

This is a good suggestion, but let’s not forget that rewarding activity doesn’t have to be flooding the player’s inventory with salvage trash. I would find it very rewarding indeed if there was some high score list to acknowledge those who do useful work: capture camps, kill enemy players without getting killed and defend towers. Naturally in lower population servers there’s less competition for top spots.
Dont forget that you can still make more gold in PvE!

“TRUE!!!” Why is that? As long as WvW is healthy and happy it still earns the project $$ because players will still make cash purchases.
God knows I’ve been here just a little over a year and have made my creditcard sing high notes buying pixels.
Rewards for wvw are very good atm and if you play a lot of wvw, then you will get enough ascended armor and weapon chests. With the current gold earned from wvw you can also buy the materials to buy ascended armor fast enough as well.
WvW-rankup-chests look a bit slim atm compared to the reward tracks though. I would like to see a weaponset/armorskinset that is exclusive for wvw and can drop off the wvw-rankup-chests (higher chance with higher ranks) and small adaptations to the rankup-chests to make them worthwhile (guaranteed rare for example, more sinks for the exclusive rankup materials). If reward tracks have to be toned down for this to be implemented, then I would be fine with that.
I am against big prices for winning the matchup, as it would give people a reason to transfer to winning servers. I am also against high monetary rewards, as the average wvw player plays the game so much that giving them more money would make the game more boring for them when trying to achieve their goals like a legendary.

That’s the problem…its always someday somehow were WvW is concerned. It has improved I agree, but not enough to stay exclusively in WvW.

That is because they are to focused on the PvE and PvP content to give a crap….
The gold for defense thing would bring in hundreds of thousands of gold every 3 minutes if all maps were queued for all servers bringing in almost 100 million gold a day.
You’d best believe if I could make 15 gold every 3 minutes on one map by bouncing between the perma-contested keeps putting in supply I’d do it and so would everyone else.

The reward tracks were brought in for wvwers who didn’t want to pve or pvp but prefered to wvw and unlock dungeon tracks to get the skin of the armour that they wanted. You get exotic armour and weapons with badges you get in wvw. I’m happy with the rewards we get and i think op is just being greedy. You should have played wvw in the begining where you had no reward tracks at all.

While thinking about it: The issue is a bit more complex: You get a massive amount of loot on the HoT maps – I was seriously annoyed when getting my mastery ranks “Oh no, not a full inventory again!” BUT on the other hand: The mats requirements for the new legendaries are insane. Maybe work from the top down. Make the new legendaries a bit less expensive, give out a bit less loot on the HoT maps.
I can remember Halloween 3 years ago. Anet tried to restrict the amount of loot and gold we gain, so all you got in the labyrinth were some spikes – it was deserted after 2 days max (that was before megaservers though, but I don’t think even a megaserver could’ve saved that situation). Not that much fun.
We did play wvw although we had to pay for the upgrades (most didn’t give a kitten, granted), although we didn’t have reward tracks. It was “enough” even then, although a bit unfair in comparison to the other modes. It’s plenty now and we don’t need more, really.

Spot on. Even though i dont play this mode for the rewards, theyre overwhelming opposed to what it has been like 3-4 years back. I like reward tracks.

ETA: What was pretty costly though was food – the node changes helped with that. For me it was better before though, I’m using plates of orrian steak frittes and NC was the best spot to farm black peppercorn. Ask Babou – I spent hours in the NC farming and listed him all prices of all herbs I had in my inventory – yes, I’m a very interesting person!

Rewards are pretty good now. Wish the reward tracks went a bit faster, but I can deal. There’s just one thing missing:

For the love of all the gods and little fishes, give us the chance to get one with our preferred method of play!
Just add a gold/money reward track… obviously there are calculations to determine the values of each reward track. Offer one to provide just money, repeatable. The system in place right now gives way to much fluff, and commanders don’t break to clear bags.
WvW will never reap the rewards PvE provides, it’s just not going to happen… ever, but I’d be happy to turn my track into a payroll department for my time spent in WvW. I needed to make 18gold yesterday to finish crafting to ascended for an alt, think I went to WvW to complete it? Nope … AB meta + sell useless crap, got it in 2 hours.
OK, I’ve thought about ir, so you get someone on an enemy server to put up a cata and hit the wall. When damaged enough you all repair and 15 gold each every few minutes. Then later return the favour. That would certainly please cheaters.

Even with no other rewards attached, that’d be really good to have.
I’m wondering if it’s possible to get this data via API in the meanwhile.
Flat rewards are not a good idea to add to any of the objectives, the reward should be proportional to the participants.
A better idea would be to have the reward scale similar to the lords scaling style, but then also modified by the ratio of attackers vs defenders. Thus outnumbering your opponent is not rewarded as much but beating the odds is valuable towards organized groups.
Additionally, every kill could add a bonus to the teams prize pool, maybe with a bonus on stomps (to keep the bloodlust theme of rewarding stomps rather than just cleaving everything down), so if you just force the enemy away from an objective, you don’t get as much.
This can even apply to yak escort missions, the more enemies you defeat/encounter while escorting the yak, the more you get at the end, with kills being worth more than just fighting then running away.
Defense events should be tuned to actual KOs with enemies who flee being worth less (and they don’t get any rewards at all since they don’t take the objective).

A guildy suggested rewards based on skirmish be:
30g for winning, 20g for second, 10g for losing ( liquid gold).
with reduced rewards if you aren’t in the skirmish for the full two hours, in 30 minute chunks. ( with say 5% leyway, for dc’s).
I don’t see it happening, but I figured it chuck it out there.

Any Skirmish reward should factor in relative Glicko (at a minimum, matchups are important when doing odds of winning) during the skirmish time slot. Servers more likely to win (odds wise) will get less while servers less likely to win should earn more.
This could hinder stacking, as stacking leads to higher odds of winning (due to population/coverage), and could help balance time slots out (therefore making odds of winning even for the highest rewards).
