We are creating a video that showcases everything that is great and fun about WvW – epic battles, sieges, quaggan dance parties, voice chat shenanigans–you name it! We’re looking for your help with this.
Have you seen or created amazing, funny, or epic WvW videos? Know a great guild or commander that would love to create one? Share them with us and the creators could be included and credited in our video compilation!
A few guidelines to keep in mind:
Video should be 720p or better
No copyrighted music (GW or GW2 music is fine)
Ready? Great! Submit your videos by August 12th by sending an e-mail to community@arena.net, using the Subject line “WvW video”.
(If you submit your own work you will give us permission to use it publicly, if you submit work created by others ArenaNet will contact the creator to ask for permission.)
Are we allowed to post videos that we created and posted online back in the day when WvW was fun and actively updated, or does it have to be all-new material?

I would guess anything from the beginning, No copyright music though is gonna be difficult though if you used licensed music back then (and no swearing etc)

Add there: 1000 gems for each video owner that we use in the end
If you want you can use mine, don’t know if anything epic about it, but people had fun participating in it. You can disable the sound/music or substitute with any other if needed. May contain some adult language (not sure if this one has, but ppl shout different things on TS during battles)

Maybe giving only 1 week of time is too few.
Those who do videos about WvW surely used alredy theyr footage for other videos, and if they want to create something specific for this, then they’ll prob need more time to collect new footage.
Why all the negativity… At worst this will bring more players to WvW and as far as am concerned any attention brought to WvW is a good thing. Especially if it comes from ANet.

Listen to your self every thing new is “fun” because you and other have no ideal what they are doing so you win big or lose big once ppl get a hang of things then you have fair fights and most ppl do not seem to want them. To add in new wvw content would be added in more power creep more karma farming more uneven maps that cant be cover by all worlds.
This is about ppl posted videos and not for some half bake case of wanting more and not having any ideal at all what “more” is wanted.
The songs is going to be a pain for a lot of ppl is there a way Anet could give ppl links to getting GW1 and GW2 songs for there videos?

Just wondering, can Anet use videos provided to them as YouTube links, or do they need to be uploaded somewhere else and then the link sent to them?
Because to my understanding, ripping YouTube videos for use in a commercial project would violate YouTube’s terms of service. So I’m not sure what you expect ArenaNet to be able to do with all these YouTube links.

This is a wonderful idea, I hope they put together a wonderful montage of all the videos and showcase how great wvw is, how great it’s been developed and what a bright future with many changes just around the corner there will be!!
WvW player. Doing another world completion for my next Legendary. Hater of mini-games.
You have to love the sheer audacity of this- fail to give any updates or information, or fix any of numerous bugs, close down the thread about the new necro infraction rules as they don’t want people dragging up all the previous stuff that hasn’t been dealt with, and then come along and ask for videos to show the world what a wonderful thing wvw is.
The only excuse for this I can think of is that one part of Anet has no idea what is happening in the other, although no doubt Krall will be able to explain that it is all our fault and this is proof there are people working on wvw…
Maybe this is a sign… Maybe they want an EPIC WvW Video to release all the stuff the WvW Team has been working on for over a year now? We can only hope…

How about copyrighted music streamed through a legal and paid service?
IE: SPotify, Wimp, Itunes
No copyrighted music that doesn’t belong to ArenaNet. Doesn’t matter how you acquired/streamed it.
If the video has copyrighted music you dont want to use, y dont you just strip the sound track? I know its not very difficult to do with the tools that are out there these days…
And have your pick from all the youtube videos out there.

Is there a preferred file format?
Is there a maximum size or quantity of videos that we can submit?
Does it need to have audio in the video?
Guys let’s think of this as the last resort of communication between Anet and us. If we do submit our videos/footage, and if anet does not use it to revamp/advertise WvW, we can safely say that anet will forever do away with WvW. However if Anet does use our footage as an entrance to address our 2 year concern, then maybe its a turning point for us. Before we give up and lament let’s give our best video and see how it goes.
Going to be quite a challenge to make a fun video of WvW on this short notice.
You’re probably going to be stuck using old videos for whatever purpose this is. Fortunately, the WvW game has hardly changed much the last year, so people will not be able to tell if a video is recent or over a year old.
On a positive note, I really hope this leads to something interesting for WvW, and not just a "Hey this is what WvW can be like, go play it sometimes!" front page article.

i love this idea! Im so happy to play a game where the relationship with the players and the developers are so close! Thanks for all the wonderful updates to WvW and that you patiently listen to your playerbase! i hope that you will get many good videos for this!
