Corpse dancing, jumping and other humilation tactics -- When are they acceptable?

I’d consider that being waaay too serious. But then again, I find that gaming is a fantasy and not real at all. People do act differently when they have the internet anonymity.
Well, you payed money for this game. You can pretend it’s not real, but it costs some very real Money, takes some very real Time, and some very real Brain usage, as well as occasionally Emotions. The characters may be imaginary but those who play it are very real. And how many of corpse dancers try to insult pixel characters? None. They all go with the intention of insulting that very real player behind the character.
The main difference is the lack of physical consequences. That’s why some people say this is not real. When there is someone to inflict physical punishment there’s a sense of reality. On the Internet you can be who you want to be: dancer on corpses. Without physical consequence.
But again, the main point I was making was: Corpse dancers are not different IRL. You’re not going to convince me that someone who acts online as if he grew up on the street is in fact a deeply respectful and noble person IRL. He might withhold his actions IRL, but his mindset will be the same.
That’s all.

I don’t equate corpse dancing or jumping to be as “immature” as you seem to make it out to be. I see it more like end-zone shenanigans or other post-victory celebrations in sports.
It’s just a way to celebrate your victory and rub your opponents defeat in their faces…it’s all in good fun. If I met some dude that corpse jumped me in real life, I would laugh and tell him that next time I’ll be the one dancing on his body.
I guess what I’m saying is that I really don’t take it that seriously. If you view corpse dancing as this egregious insult, then I think you are taking it too seriously.

When someone just won’t get off your nutz during WvW and you end up pulling off a 1v4 – that’s a teabaggin.
Rockin the outmanned buff as you push a group of campers out of your BL northern supply camp – that there’s a teabaggin.
Someone chased after you while you were invading their territory; running halfway across the map to just have you turn around and spike them into the ground? You better believe that’s a teabaggin.
My favorite is:
/sit
/laughThe laugh makes you stand up.
All in good fun. It’s a great way to get semi-anonymous cross-server whispers.
This post made me LOL.
BTW, I’m in Ferg’s, so I’m looking forward to teabagging you one day.

No one needs to convince you of anything. That’s your own responsibility. You’re entitled to what you believe is true for you. That doesn’t mean everyone else feels the same way as you do?

Fact is you will find tons of wowbabies in every game. You can’t really help that. I personally havent seen it and would never do it, but I understand the boundless quantities of immaturity people have
lol I do this all the time and you’re the perfect person to do it to. I’ll jump and laugh at them when they have spent the last few minutes trying to run away like a little girl. If they are a thief I’ll stop what I doing just to jump on them even if I wasn’t the person that killed them.
Its part of the game, and its funny.

I like the time some group of 6 ganked my wife’s mez… after they were done – a necro teabagged my wife’s mez for… well long enough that I ran (with my commander tag on so i had the whole zerg with me :P ) from one of the map to the other – jumped off the cliff, landed with 3k hp left and 100 to 0’ed him. Then the Zerg teabagged him.

In other games i’ve played…this type of thing has definitely been used to bring the opponent off his game. It works amazingly well at times.

I always teabag the players I kill. I hate it when people do it to me, so there must be others out there who also rage when it’s done to them.
If you don’t like it being done to you, don’t do it to others, as simple as that. Otherwise you are too low.

ill salute them if they put up a good 1v1 fight, ill laugh if they try to insta-gib me (ie drop all their skills in 3 seconds) but i still kill them. i wont go out of my way to humiliate them.
…that being said, one time i built a ballista on top of a guy who tried to chase me back to spawn.
in WvW
Posted by: Besetment.9187
I dont think its unsportsmanlike. You do it to break your enemy’s will to continue fighting, which is really what any armed conflict is about. Morale is a real thing in this game. If you feel everything is going wrong and you see your opponent is organized, it makes you want to jump borderlands.
It only works well if you tell everyone to queue up /laugh in chat and hit enter in 3, 2, 1, go. Laugh spike.
Best time to do it is when the enemy team makes highly questionable strategic and tactical decisions. It tends to mean they are without leadership or coordination and are thus highly succeptible to jumping borderlands if you drive home just how much more organized you are than them. Think of it like spawn camping without having to contain your enemy at spawn. All you are trying to do is destroy their morale so they want to stop fighting.
It doesn’t work as well against a team that can get 30+ people to do exactly the same thing at precisely the same time on command . Like successfully counter push and queue up /cry in chat.

So somehow my tame post was reported and removed where I said if you kill 2-3 people at once it is warranted and that people are more likely to make mistakes when they come back angry.
You’d think they would have taken out my lovely teabag comment.

That isnt true, people act differently online than they do IRL, because you most likely wont meet them so they can let their inner kitten out, I do. Im not such a jerk in real life unless you annoy me but ingame I can be a kittenwad. Mostly its because in spvp I talk trash and get people to chase me and leave their bases underguarded or cap points undefended.
As to the OP, hell yea corpse jumping/dancing is acceptable, at any time of the day. Ive yet to have the pleasure of doing WvW seriously, only doing it twice so I speak from spvp and tpvp experience. I rarely waste time corpse kitten someone but when I do its because they talked trash to me, ganked me and did it first, or attacked me when I was running by them not planning to attack them. That is possibly the most popular for me, Ill be minding my own business roaming between cap points and their roamer decides he wants a piece of dante, and so I ignore him while he chases me…sometimes, depends on the urgency but if its not so urgent I get annoyed, turn around and kill him, or die trying, if I kill him I dancing, and ask if it was worth it. If I die, I hunt him down until he leaves.
Im very immature this way, and I love it. So fair warning to all, if we duel, and you are chill and skilled, I most likely wont sodamize your corpse if I win, but if you annoy me in any way, prepare to be lubed and stretched after we fight…If I win ofc.

I corpse jump, bow or sit next to the defeated foe depending on the situation.
A pesky mesmer or thief that tried to run away from a fight? Corpse jump. A member of a trash zergball guild? Corpse jump.
Opponents who fought very well or someone who was willing to die in order to slow our advance? A bow.
Opponents that found themselves in an unfortunate spot, were blown up and that I felt sad about having to kill? I’ll normally sit next to their lifeless bodies for a while as a form of consolation.

i look kinda cute when i do it though, – lets face it, if you try to break into our house and we chase off your zerg, not only will i dance and laugh, but I’ll stand there finishing off the rest of your hostile crew right over your dead body. I don’t do that when i go hunting though. I wish those guys well – I would even res them if i could! -wipes tear-

There’s a major difference between internet bullying and a few innocent jumps over a person’s dead toon. If you were making a case for internet bullying then you would have a valid argument, otherwise this is just oversensitive nonsense.
Don’t play football if you don’t want to get tackled. Don’t play basketball if you don’t want to get dunked on. And don’t play online video games if you don’t want to get tea bagged. It’s just part of the game and that’s why ESRB cannot rate your online experience. Try to think of it as a celebration and not an insult to you if you really are that sensitive about it. And if you feel it’s excessive celebration then all I can say is it’ll only hurt you as much as you let it.

I will bow/salute or pm those that are good close fights whether I win or loose. I do not do any dancing sitting or anything else that can be mistaken as unsportsmanlike, May be it is still the Army Value of respect that is instilled in me (one thing most people lack anymore). In the same sense you will never find me near an enemy spawn, the tower closest to it sure but I won’t go closer because i think it ruins the sport of WvW and IMO spawn camping is dishonorable to yourself and your server.

I was defeated and the opponent used /salute for a good fight. It can go that way, too.
If I notice opponent staying dead for extended period of time (for spying or waiting for hidden team member to revive him within keep walls), I sometimes go sit next to the corpse. The asuran sit emote is ace.

I tend to stay polite.
If it didn’t require much effort to kill them, I’ll just move on.
If it was a really good and close fight or with multiple opponents I’ll bow and carry on.
I always hope people don’t take it the wrong way.
I’ll only use laugh to lure people away from the guards or other safety blankets.
I can handle them dancing or whatever on my dead body but I feel it has to be done well.
Killing 1 player with 12 people isn’t the right situation to go corpse dancing imo.
Question tho’, do people actually see it when you type “/me blablabla” ?

I used to dance on people’s corpses. That’s when I was bad at the game so kills felt like an accomplishment.
Now I’ll only do it after a huge victory, not as humiliation of my enemies, but in celebration of mine or my allies accomplishments.
Most of the time I just /no whenever someone tries to engage me and loses horribly. Or they’re doing something sneaky like killing a Dolyak solo behind enemy lines.
There’s nothing wrong with a little trash-talk in online games. It’s always a good laugh when someone dances on me, makes you think “oh yeah you would, but I’ll get you next time.”
Just gotta avoid taking it seriously. Whenever I get mad at the video game I’m playing, I stop, do something else, and then come back when I’m calmer and more relaxed. No point stressing out over some people having a little fun on the internet.
And for the people who do it deliberately to get a reaction? Don’t let them win. Just laugh it off, get back up, and go at it again.

If the player is an obvious griefer, you bet I’ll be rubbing it in that they died. The jump puzzles are a popular place for this. I’ll fight it out or run along with the enemy. I care not. But if they start trying to camp and they aren’t even doing it to keep the area clear for friendlies, then yeah, I’ll grab a group to wipe them and camp them right back.
Just last week we were not letting any ET through for trying to camp the jump puzzle, but we were letting SBI pass (unless they decided to suddenly fight after we let them get past the Arena, then their guild tag got added to the kill list)

Yesterday our zerg came across two enemy players by themselves. We caught one and the other ran, but then the runner turned around and came back for his friend. Not sure if he was noble, or stupid, or had really bad rendering issues and couldn’t see the other 30 of us, but I /saluted him on the assumption that he was being a good friend. On the other hand if I’m in a small group and we wipe a big group I will /laugh because that’s just funny.

Such behaviour doesn’t seem to be widely used on EU servers. At least it hasn’t happened to me so far.
Personally I did a /bow after a nice 1on1 once but forgot to look behind me before I did it and was jumped by a small group of enemies coming from behind. Not my best moment I have to admit I won’t use stuff like teabagging/jumping/dancing on enemies, it’s kinda rude and not my style.

I don’t do it, and I don’t normally condone it, there was, however, someone today that needed it:
So my server owns the whole map, here I am, by myself, killing some wolves next to the garrison. Pretty much just mmob. I’m on a level 55 thief, and a level 80 (actual level 80) thief from one of the other servers had to have come halfway across the map (I’m on the opposite side of the garrison from his server’s spawn point) with no one else from his server. He decides to run up behind me and kill me…. I know I’m in a pvp area, but really man…? …really? I still manage to kill him, plus half the wolves (who were all low health already) during the fight. I had to walk over and /laugh next to his corpse.
Whoever you are, you had 25 levels (granted I was “scaled” to 80), twice as much health as me, the element of surprise, and I had aggro from 4 wolves, and you still couldn’t win…. good job being sneaky for that “free kill.”
You, sir, deserved to be laughed at for that.

dance and kneel all you want. If I haven’t released yet my friends are prolly sneaking right up behind you, or you are giving me tons of useful intel.
If I’m going to take time out of my busy killing/spying/capping/siege destroying Wv3 life it’s not to waste time trying to humiliate someone with a lame gesture, that’s what the scoreboard is for. I’ll only waste time to /bow or /salute good 1v1 or 1v2 etc… otherwise hit the “B” button to see who last laughs.

It is best for team build. I propose to fellow SBI thugs that you must /point and /laugh at all times to dead people. Jump on head too. Makes enemey hate you and your server. This is best for not allow to see them next to you when next big bandwagon server disolve.
Like JQ think they are really good. always 3rd place in tier 1 until HoD (dominate server) disolve and make JQ. Now JQ bandwagon.
/point
/laughZibzab [sOLo]
HoD disolves and SBI still can’t take 1st! It’s precious to see the little ones try tho.
As far as dancing goes, I have yet to be danced upon. I’ve died many many times, but no one danced??? People are too classy these days…
That’s because all the bandwagoners who went to HoD transferred over to JQ after TA left. Haven’t you noticed any difference in you WvW pop? Because everyone else does.
Meant no disrespect. Put the winky emote there to show I was being silly. I love SBI.
Naw, I have instant queue times any time of day. Pop can’t have gone up. I never could get in in the first three week long match ups. What I do notice is now we have commanders, and a dedicated server Team Speak, and we don’t run around playing capture the flag anymore.
We were not always in 3rd place either. We had a few second place finishes. I know a lot of folks on SBI and have a ton of respect for them. I’d never try to cheapen a win for them by tossing out unsubstantiated ‘bandwagon’ comments.
HoD on the other hand… If they were still Tier 1, I’d have some issues with.
I’m still mad that none of them corpse dance me when they kill me. And I die a lot!

But it isn’t as satisfying when they are already dead. I prefer to down them, beat them to 25% life, then dance while the scrubs pathetically sit there trying to heal. If it is a warrior who uses his downed-skill to get up, I will dodge around throwing a few /laughs until the timer runs out and he falls dead.

The other day I was jumped by a hundred blades warrior and hs spamming thief while making my way to an objective and managed to kill them both so you bet I did some /point and /laugh at them. I’ve known some hardcore gamers in the past that rage like no other when someone beats them in a video game, so I like to imagine them raging all over the place and give them a little cherry to top it off by sitting on their corpse afterwards. I think it’s stupid to get so worked up over a video game, which is what makes it funny.
