Damage armor on downed.
This closely follows the Death Penalty aspect of GW1, and since GW1 was the bomb, I support this.
I think even bringing back the idea of “Morale Boosts” from GW1 in the form of the bloodlust buff would be a great idea too. If your server has 1 stack of buff, chest armor cannot be damaged on down, if your server has 2 stacks of buff, leg armor cannot be damaged on down, if your server has all 3, no armor is damaged on down.
For me, this would make bloodlust buff more interesting and worthwhile. Also, if a server has all 3 and is rolling everyone, the other servers probably have outmanned in most maps, so they won’t need to repair anyways.
The idea has flaws I’m sure, but off the top of my head it sounds interesting.
No. Armor repair is a bad enough idea as it is. Being downed 2-3 times within 30-60 seconds should be full-death and reviving a player from full-death should be removed from WvW so death is actually meaningful. Charging players money for dying is a lame and lazy idea. Actual mechanics that effect gameplay should be implemented to make death a punishment for both the player and the team, not more money sinks. This game has plenty as it is.

This. Many players are already too scared to fight (unless by fight you mean sitting on AC), charging them for going down would make that even more of a problem.

Terrible idea, personally I would rather play chillaxing game with some seriousness than hardcore ****, I don’t want “hardcore” in games I play
If you want to make it harder, then I would go with the idea of removing 2nd and 3rd skill on downed, leave only 1st one, that would make it kinda cool
Tho I like current system, “Don’t fix if it’s not broken” I say

As others point out, I would hate for the game to become even more of a “Let’s hide in our structure(s) and fire siege instead of actively engaging in combat where we can take damage back”. This is already some servers way of playing World vs. World, and I quite honestly hate fighting against them, I find it tremendously boring.

There is no penalty for getting downed besides having less times you can get downed for a short period. It goes white > yellow > red > you’re dead. Your armor should be damaged each time you get downed, in addition to this downed sickness. It’s so annoying that people can get downed over and over again and keep getting rallied by NPCs, killing stuff with downed abilities, or teammates reviving them.
If armor was damaged on down, even if you got downed 4 times and won the fight, your armor would still be damaged. Persistent penalty for getting downed. Any reason why this is a bad idea, and why?
Are you kidding me? As broke as we are in WvW already? How about we just get rid of downed state in PvP and WvW? Isn’t that what everyone wants to begin with?
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
I have to disagree. I think the down state is fine as it is. The rallying mechanic tho could be better.
I think the game’s just designed so that goin down isn’t losin the fight and is just part of how the fight goes.
To lose you gotta be finished.

“the others servers probably have outmanned in most maps, so they won’t need to repair” ? you really wrote that… So basically, the winning server gets to not care at all about armor repairs because they are rolling everyone, but the losing servers are penalized by it. But hey, since they are losing, who gives a s*** right ?
And this doesn’t look like GW1 death penalty, at all. In GW1, DP didn’t make you lose most of your strength and or rendered you even more vulnerable. And you didn’t have to take a WP or use the gem shop to get rid of it.
Outmanned buff effect means you don’t have to repair armor…so outmanned servers wouldn’t be penalized.
And how were you not punished in GW1 by dying? 60% DP was insanely difficult and demoralizing to a GvG team in GW1, especially in top 100 matches. I would rather have damaged armor. And if you had read my post at all you would realize that outmanned buff effect causes no damage to armor on death, and the bloodlust buffs would remove it as well incrementally. Plus, I said there would be some flaws in a system like this, but it sounded interesting to me.
Before you come into a thread and act like I shot bambi and jump on me, read the post please and also realize you are talking about a non-existent feature in a game.
Broken armor sounds too harsh, though I would love the death penalty from gw1 applied to rally for about a minute after getting up but with something lik -15% hp/speed reduction per down.
Or, here’s a better idea, bring back the Death Penalty from GW1. Each time you die, all of your stats are reduced by a certain amount until you reach 60%, once you hit that threshold, your next death will instantly teleport you to spawn. Will only be removed by waypointing to spawn, using a shrine of sorts, or through killing. This would fix a lot of the issues with the constant zerg rezzing, and people not waypointing. It gets to a point where if you die more than one or two times, you start to be a hinderance rather than a help to a group and either will stop rezzing, or you’ll end up at spawn.
The saga of your life is a summation of the choices you make.

You can be outmaned (the ingame mechanic) or facing 100 players against less than 40 of yours and not have that buff.
In GW1 the DP only took away your life and energy. It didn’t take away your attribute points or reduced your attack power.
And while I might not have any problems regarding this, some players have problems with armor repair fees and P2W (repair canister).
Really this is a bad idea.
Bad idea, we are already penalized by having less downed health each time we go down and we already are low when we get up if we are revived. Don’t need to add unnecessary punishments.
Less QQ please.
