Dear Anet WvW Devs, 709 Players Voted for ...
There are issues with bringing back the Alpine borderland. The original plan was to modify itso that the mechanics were compatible with those of the Desert Borderland and then install programming to allow a rotation between several maps.
That seems to be nowhere near complete. Unfortunately going back doesn’t seem to be an option either.
Yeah, they have to work to destroy the old map with the new super hot stuff…
Bringing back the old stuff can’t be allowed, they can’t really accept to say that HoT is a big mess…

Honestly, they throw little pieces of chum in the water baiting players back. Changing back to Friday reset, bringing back Alpine, etc….it’s too late for a ton of players. More hype train.
I don’t think it is as simple as literally bringing the Alpine Maps back by uploading a few files and calling it a day. I would assume that there have been some improvements and significant changes between the Alpine Borderlands Map (ABM) and the Desert Borderlands Map (DBM).
One map is +3yrs old, while the other is only a few months old. The difference in code and hardware/software infrastructure between these maps could be significant enough that it is not a simple swap and go any more.
With all of that said however it would be nice to have communication made about whether the ABM is being considered for reintroduction (with changes or otherwise) via map rotations or otherwise. Is this being discussed or are other alternatives on the table?
Also what changes to the current DBM are being considered to make objectives more strategic and valuable? Are Mecenaries similar to those from the EBM being considered to the DBM in order to fill possible empty spaces that would be generated if objectives were moved closer? Underground tunnels? Special Cannons at towers similar to those at Statuary in EotM being considered? Etc, etc.
haha, and some ignorant ppl were saying the alpine borderland is a simple off on switch and when the well informed ppl telling them is not like that, then they come up with some absurd claims about how it is….
the problem is that there are so many different options on the forums that anet has difficulty to identify which are consider logical and reasonable. of course, if they bother to look into details, they can identify that but i guess they just real lazy.
u can be sure anet did listen to some extend but they also listened to opinions that are far less critical.

i voted for the return of alpine, but i dont completely agree. i want wvw to flourish, i dont want the wvw dev team to have all of their hard work scrapped. its a huge waste for everyone. i think it can be reshaped to be smaller and flatter like a lot of people in the “your top5 wvw priorities” thread are calling for.

You would assume wrong.
Changing alpine to be “HoT compatible” would be no stranger than what we already got in EB. I wouldnt even cry if alpine was not made the same. They can skip T3 walls and doors and the kittened waypoints. Because kitten that kitten.

I doubt too many people will care if the new “features” work in the old alpine map. Nor do i foresee an enormous outcry if the alpine and desert bl can’t be readily swapped. I would just like to see alpine back until fixes are in place. Why can this not happen?
