Europeans must know PRX, they completely made a lot of noise the European WvW scene.

prx got 3 wins vs 2 losses in EU which doesnt even have an active night force other than Vizunah square , vs 10 wins and 1 loss in NA…

Don’t you want to move somewhere and be number one by default? You won’t even have to DO anything.

A lot of people have this romantic notion that working up to number is cool and amazing.

But everyone knows that the longer you stay in Tier 1, the faster you and your members burnout. The next time, you wont have the option to move to a bottom tier and work your way back up again in a relaxed way. You want to make sure your future allies are the proven real deal.

Actually, I’m pretty sure you have to work hard to stay at #1. The second sentence is not true. Not trying to derail, but saying to possible recruits that they won’t have to do anything being #1 might make them turn away. I would think people would want to join the #1 NA WvW server to, you know, actually play and have to do something to help keep that #1 position. :P Just saying. If that was sarcasm, ignore this post.

This week’s wvw is bound to get crazy! It is literally like an arms race among the T1 servers. There is only 1 server to go to though – the one whose foundation is built on blood and tears – a testament to our commitment. We are intrepid! How is it low exactly? When is it unethical to recruit via mail? And by whose standards? Those GMs, regardless of their choice, should have enough discretion. They are just being presented an option. No one is being coerced or bribed to do anything. Please do not judge so hastily.

When SoS was still rank 10, people used to say to me

Jedahs, don’t try to recruit, no one will listen to your crap server

Today SoS is the undisputed champion of WvW in NA servers. However, we still have no European leadership. Since we began recruitment, many European individuals have come, yet there is still no euro leadership or guilds.

We are not asking for huge major European guilds. Just small European 40 man guilds would be perfect to take up the mantle and lead our server’s disorganized European forces. Be that hero, make a difference in the hottest battlefield on earth. Our opponents are stacked, fight major European guilds such as HB, EMP, RG. We don’t play for badges, we don’t play for points, we play to be the BEST WvW server in the world. Not for 1 week, 2 weeks or even 5 weeks like the legendary HOD, we play to be the best for as long as WvW exists!

In the coming week i will be away in the UK, so please contact other leaders such as amarathy, coron or kurthos for information and transfer logistics

SoS is here to stay in T1 for a very long time.
We’ll probably stay in T1 forever when more EUs join us because by then we will have superior coverage of Oceanic, NA and EU pt. Any coverage without leadership will be horrible. We do have European WvWers in SoS but most of them work alone and there’s too little of them to make a difference. I strongly think that if you, Europeans start moving to SoS, you guys can recruit with ease and enjoy WvW without any queues on any borderlands. You guys can even start making EU guilds on SoS!

So what are you waiting for? Join SoS! It doesn’t matter if your guild is small or inexperienced. Join us and you will improve tremendously and experienced true Tier 1 WvW environment and tactics! Try calling a Brit a European, they (generally) don’t like it to much. While technically a part of Europe, the British consider themselves separate or isolated from the mainland (in more than 1 sense).

First ask a brit if they are european and they will tell you no, so it’s relevant to call out to them as british.

Second it’s up for debate whether britain is part of europe. Technically a continent (which is what europe is) is a continuous expanse of land. Britain is not part of that continuous expanse of land so could therefore not be part of the continent of europe.

However geographically it is right there with europe and is part of the european union. It does not however use the EU currency.

TLDR: It is not unreasonable to appeal directly to brits as brits and not as europeans.

How does EU cover Oceanic periods? Because your server locations are in Germany it would add 200ms latency to Oceanics making WvW virtually unplayable. US servers provide better average latency coverage for Oceanic/EU and US compared to EU serers which only favor EU/US. Hence why US servers are optimal for WvW

This is exactly the reason why you won’t get more than a few decent Europeans to transfer. We don’t mind working for a win, fighting tough fights and honestly don’t care about your “motherload”.

The only thing I see here, is a server attempting to recruit and random trolls like yourself cutting on us for it. And yes, Desolation has asked for night time and early morning coverage within their recruitment thread. I do see SoS sticking up for ourselves whenever we are insulted/trolled by the likes of you. I wonder why no SoS trolls marzattacked that thread? Oh yeah, we respect another T1 server’s right to recruit.

As an Oceanic player, I wouldn’t agree we (SoS) have good coverage. Although we do well in our peak (NAs off peak), I get the outmanned bonus during this time most days. Im fine with that though, more rewards for me. Most of my time is spent minimizing the impact of being outmanned and hopefully handing over a reasonable EB and 3 borderlands for the early NA players. And nothing gives me more pleasure than managing to defend a keep with 3 players and a more siege than I can poke a stick at from a zerg of 50.

My main toon’s name is Talaysteria. I have been playing in a guild, called The Industry since around the time the TA alliance broke up on HoD. I originally moved from HoD, from a very small guild of about 6 to DB and meet the likes of Kurthos, Deuce, Nexus, Syn, PapaJ, Patone, and Coron. All solid ppl and great to play with. I joined [Work] and become part of a nice little family within the Aoi Alliance. At some point in time, we all decided to take the Call to Arms, the likes of Jed had placed out to the Wv3 world that SoS needed some NA coverage. They were Oceanic and that was what we lacked on DB, mostly. Decision made, move made. SoS became my new gaming home. At first the Aussies didn’t trust us, we had to earn it. And throughout time, we pushed into T1 and have become steady. Now with the free server transfers ending, SoS is very weak on Euro coverage. I know Jed has another thread looking for Euro coverage, and is a good thread. I just wanted to take the time, and speak from my own perspective. My guild leader, Kurthos, has taken the time to put together a collection of what SoS is about:

I understand that SoS recruiters have been apparently spamming the forums. That behavior isn’t acceptable. And I have even falling prey to answering other posts with a recruitment post. If any of my behavior has offended anyone, I apologize. However, SoS hasn’t trolled other servers’ recruitment threads. And from what I have seen, only posted best wishes and props. So it is my hope that this thread can be respected. We are only looking for a few solid Euro guilds to come and join our community.We are not looking for entire servers, or even any other time zone. That has been said since Jed’s first post about recruitment, which was trolled to death by lots of non SoS ppl. You can say a lot about how SoS does business in the battlefield, complaining about what you think are mindless zergs, etc, etc, ad infinitum, BUT we are respectful. So if there are any other strange things happening in other threads, started by SoS ppl, PM me. Let me know. Other wise, good luck all. And do not forget, this a game, and supposed to be fun. Tier 1 is very competitive especially with Jade Quarry recruiting new players. If SOS doesn’t increase its player base then tier 1 will become lop sided towards JQ.

Problem with NA to EU or EU to NA is that you won’t be able to use “guest mode” to play with friends from your country after moving. I think that’s the reason why EU servers have troubles recruiting NA guilds, and why you might have the same problem.

I really dislike the idea that we at SoS dominate wvw. Almost every day we’re in some incredibly tough fights. If T1 was just a faceroll with us stomping over all the other servers then most of us would get bored and leave. We at SoS have been #1 and stayed there because we have excellent communication between guilds and one of the best server communities I have ever seen on a MMO. We are respectful of our pugs (we don’t use that word, we call them millitia). We work with other guilds as smothly as if they were our own guild. And we never give up. At the same time, there is no commitment beyond play smart and have fun. If we’re in an incredibly fun fight but are needed elsewhere, our commanders will wait for the fun to stop before moving us.

We play for fun and to be the best. If that is something you Europeans and Brits would like to be a part of, whisper Jedah or Tala or Kurthos and we will organize a mass server blackout for your guild.

The latency issue is waved off too lightly in the OP. Just that for many players it has been proven to not be an issue doesn’t mean issues are non-existent.
I know for a fact that it will affect my gameplay like it did on every other game I tried it since 1999. It’s also one of the reasons I avoid PvP and raids in games that have global servers based in NA.
My ISP which has monopoly in this area has dodgy routes to NA gaming servers. For example in lotro my latency increased from 15-25 because the servers were located in my country to 85-150 (almost consistently over 100) on NA servers. Not a problem if the latency is stable but it kept varying so much that it lead to huge packet drops in all games I played causing skill lag and more regular d/c’s even within small instanced environments like a raid.
Not that I would be interested, I’m loyal to my EU server FS but should I change my mind with regards to transfers in general, I wouldn’t even try an NA server due to my bad experiences with every other game out there.

Just my 2 pence on the lag issue.

I did transfer to Crystal Desert for a week recently, and while the WvW was mostly non laggy, there was days where I couldn’t bear to play from 3/4 of a second lag to whole 2 seconds lag, definitely noticable. Fire your weapon or dodge and it took way too long.

On transfers though, I think there will be a significant and noticable amount of people moving down to lower pop servers for more, “contained” battle. WSR where I am, we have smaller numbers but what other guild members have said are otherwise good fights. We’re suffering as a whole, as lower population servers, from people flocking to higher tier servers probably in the hope of that they will get constant wins or more larger scale battles. Because let’s face it, nobody likes to lose. But too many people take it lying down or just leave all together.
The only benefit I see personally at the moment to that is the overnight fighting which may or may not be huge, as a late shift worker IRL myself. Which lower tier servers lack.

What Jedahs was saying about the lag is that he will provide you with a free NA account so you can test out the lag before deciding to move over to NA servers I you are worried about lag.

Also, I’m British, and most British do not identify themselves as Europeans
