Not joking – ANet could put the new Desert Borderland into rotation with current EotM Map to keep it interesting for the Megaserver/Faction crowd that runs there.

Just need to perhaps redo the map into 3 equal corners for Red/Green/Blue.


Megaserver/Faction is already working in EotM…so minimal development required.


This is for all the players who feel EotM is better than Classic WvW.


EotM gets the new content & resources are devoted to improving EotM as it becomes the New WvW game mode.

Leave Classic WvW alone…that’s my opinion.

Just pointing out that alliances will not fix population problems. How are we placed in an alliance? Can we transfer alliances? You know how people complain about server stacking? I see people just stacking on the alliance that wins the most.. If we are randomly put into an alliance we lose the communities that we have built..

My point is EotM is already using Megaserver/Faction, Classic WvW is Server based.

ANet should keep these 2 products totally separate.

Megaserver/Faction only needs to be fixed in EotM.

Classic WvW shouldn’t even use Megaserver/Faction because it’s a different product.

If my memory serves me right.

EotM was originally a place to wait in queue until a spot opened for a player to enter into Classic WvW Boderland or EB map.


If you’re correct about EotM being the testing ground for Classic WvW…then that gives more reason why New Desert Borderland should be used in EotM.

You do realize that most of the people that play EoTM are uplevels, would rather run around capping stuff and they actually complain when they get engaged and killed by another group. You really want to turn WvW into this?

Actually nope, eotm stays the same and wvw gets the added benefit of being megaserver like eotm is now

I would prefer that they delete the new maps and put the alpine maps back in (with a visual makeover).

How about they just keep EotM in EotM, they revamp the desert BL, and then add a 3rd new BL that’s forest based? Alpine will be for the server that’s blue, desert for the server that’s red, and the forest for the server that’s green. Simplify them to be a bit more like Alpine, with proper warfare like it was. There, we’ve fixed WvW, AND added variety to the BLs.

Need to realize this important distinction.

Classic WvW is failing because it’s Base Map Mechanic is flawed.

Classic WvW Base Map Mechanic promotes:

1) Server Stacking

2) Stale Match-Ups

3) Separates players from playing together unless they are on the same World server.

These are the Critical Base Map Mechanics that is causing Classic WvW to fail IMHO.


ANet has 2 good products from my viewpoint.

New WvW – EotM
and
Classic WvW

Keep them separate & you get more customers coming to you. Coca-Cola learned this valuable lesson.

I’m allowed to comment on any portion of the game and provide feedback. I’d prefer wvw if it were more fun and rewarding. I do eotm occasionally. I spend more time tinkering around the pve game and working on characters.

I was an avid zone pvper once with over 20 characters. I spent some time in arenas as well. I’ve played solo (roamer), team support, team heals, team disruption, melee and ranged dps, minor tanking for fun, combinations of these…

My heart is more geared toward players against other players, but this game needs a lot of work on the profession development and (certain) combat mechanics ends for me to take up any real interest. I’m fully aware of what goes on and what the game lacks in many ways with regard to pvp/wvw related things. I’m experienced enough to know the gist of “things” without spending 5000 hours in a certain game mode.

When the devs start taking profession development seriously and make strong adjustments to wvw rewards, population discrepancies, certain big mechanics and stuff…, then I’ll take the game and wvw more seriously. If that day comes, then I’ll crush all you “hardcore” “server priders” under the boots of my massive and elite army of digital soldiers, not digital potters. Until then, just be grateful I’m not in wvw destroying all your competitive hopes and dreams any more than these maps did.

I have played wvw, it’s boring as all get out… Doesn’t mean I don’t know what I’m taking about. You guys are way too leet me me I guess

It has nothing to do with elitism, casualism, or randomism.

Everyone is entitled to give feedback.

This game mode has a dedicated and loyal following who have played it nonstop since day one and love it. It’s not unreasonable to ask that people giving Anet feedback have some real-time experience in the game before they advocate for such a sweeping change to its format. It’s suggesting a change without truly understanding the implications. You implied you spoke for a big chunk of WvW players. Clearly you don’t.

That’s what you’re being called on.

Please show my your list of wvw fixes that address population imbalances?

Day and night capping ppt balancing that’s fair for all effort put into their timeframes?

What are your reward systems?

How are you going to make sure populations numbers are up consistently at any time of day?

What is your structure for running tournaments consistently to generate a sense of competitiveness and keep up momentum?

How are you going to attract new players into wvw and keep them playing?

All of you spent more time commenting on my posts and not providing solutions. Funny how you peeps want to save wvw, yet don’t really make and meaningful contributions (not in this thread at least)… I’m sure I could look at your post history too and see the same tired old suggestions that do nothing for this game besides keep it in the same neglected and boring loop. Flex on oh knowledgeable ones, let us hear what your brain can summon to save your dying game mode…

New Main- 80 Thief – P/P- Vault Spam Pro

221 hours over 1,581 days of bank space/hot pve/lion’s arch afk and some wvw.

Most WvW vets have never gotten ANY levels from EoTM.

Please show my your list of wvw fixes that address population imbalances?

Anet started to do this with the full cap on servers. Sadly people aren’t patient enough to see the benefit.

I’d be happy with zero rewards in WvW. Most people who WvW don’t do it for the rewards or they’d have left three years ago.

Keep the server caps on. Don’t stand down from them. Force the playerbase to spread out if they won’t do it willingly. EU doesn’t have these problems. This issue is player-created.

By building a strong community that not only is friendly to new players, but takes the time out to teach. Most strong community servers do this. I guess you haven’t stuck around in WvW long enough to discover this.

And given the info gleaned in this thread, I think I’m done responding .. it feels like he’s trolling now. No point making him fat. I will say that if it’s discovered that he is an Anet employee, I’ll be very very disappointed.

EoTM Factions system is far superior to WvW’s server system.

But WvW’s Map is far superior to EoTM’s map.

so how about a merger of whats best about each?

Please explain to me how EotM factions are more balanced than WvW’s server system.

It’s most failure for balance is still the relation of WvW server status. This needs to be removed completely.

On reset of match all colors are open, no server affiliation. One map with no overflow.

1: When you choose to play EotM, select a “Color” to represent.
2: When that color reaches map capacity, grey it out. You will need to select one of the remaing two colors.
3. When the map reaches full capacity on all three colors, another map is created.

Its not a bad ideal but its to easy to make new maps in EotM atm to make it a real open rvrvr or faction map. There also some issues of some side being stronger the others.

For EotM to be that open rvrvr map you need to make it much harder if not remove the abitly for new overflows maps to be made but have a very set number of EotM maps that you must chose from week to week or match to match that your going to play. You also need to balances it a bit more for all 3 sides. The big thing that needs to be done is to comply remove EotM from WvW or make it no longer give supple (all though i think its this way already) but give some type of end / map reward base off your side placement for that match.

Guild : OBEY (The Legacy) I call it Obay , TLC (WvW) , UNIV (other)

That’s what you’re being called on.

Your precious wvw is bleeding out and most of you are niggling about auto upgrades and server transfers… Most of you peeps don’t think about real solutions, you are all stuck with your server pride stuck somewhere and can’t see the forest from the trees…

And I’m not saying you specifically, but if I look I’m sure to see things that don’t really address big issues. By all means, though, go answer those questions I presented and let’s see what you got.

You can’t with this method.

Worse still, it could mean splitting guild raids who can’t get onto the same map.

They are improving squad functions and perhaps they intend to push limits with populations…

They are also very guild focused with the guild initiative so they obviously want large groups of people to queue up and run things together…

There are lots of things the devs are going to address, but you peeps need to break out of that linear box you’re stuck in sometimes.

Idk, guys I think world rank 842 is experienced enough to make a judgment on wvw…

Not if you got all those ranks in EoTM and seeing how you want to turn WvW into EoTM I think you got the majority of your rank in EoTM. Maybe you just want more maps for your EoTM game mode that you so seem to love? Is that what you really want? Not happy with 1 k-train map so want to turn every map into k-train maps?

You don’t even have to answer any of my questions. I already know the answer to them just by what you have been posting.
