ETA on this grenade barrage fix?
Cant believe its not fixed yet considering how broken it is, making it 1500 range when reducing the other grenade skills to 900 makes it even more op.

It really blows my mind it wasn’t fixed the day they released this patch.
You can’t do anything about it. There’s barely any counter play other than hoping you have your invuln going by pure coincidence. Even having an auto endure pain trait doesn’t help as it’s an instant death and doesn’t have time to proc.
They should give it a range of 2400 when I’m on my engineer.

I don’t know why they didn’t just disable it for now. It’s obviously broken as is. It is able to hit for at least 26k+ instantly.
Its anets new updates, they want to fix everything that isint broken; therefore making it broken, then following up stating that they are now working on a fix. Its a never ending cycle…. Just ignore it like Anet ignores its veteran players

For some reason, with grenadier it’s supposed to throw 7 nades, but it actually throws and lands 14 if you look at the damage log and most of them crit, plus with the radius and damage increase you can get all of them to land at once…. so broken lmao
Its like eles Phoenix skill (that can hit 6 times if done right). It may not be something that can be simply fixed unless they drop the dmg of “passing though a target.”

To be fair mortar was doing far too much damage, a full dire engi was able to hit rather hard considering how little power they really had. Of course that doesn’t explain them not touching Grenade Barrage yet… Hmm, considering what they said about other skills they also ‘nerfed’ around same time, they may have intended to lower the damage all along but couldn’t have it ready and tested by the patch, so it came in a hotfix later… That would explain a lot.
I am a bit confused as to why they didn’t disable grenade barrage until they fix it, and have now discovered there are other traits for other classes that really should be disabled and fixed asap. I know Anet doesn’t want to disable skills/traits etc., and may not be able to do so without it going in a patch which with the effort needed for that might as well just fix it first. But how broken a few things are, and how things are being exploited, is a serious issue.
Thing is, people are abusing some of the bugs for personal gain under the pretense of ‘testing’. Sure, I can see how it could be funny a few times for grenade barrage, and then it would just get old and dumb. However, with some bugs, it’s getting to the point Anet may need to set examples on the more egregious situations since players can’t seem to behave themselves while Anet fixes things.
It’s getting old. Every bad engineer is running it and in the middle of a hectic small fight you just get instantly killed.
Good engineers run it too. It’s like saying a thief is bad for using stealth… Unlike stealth it has a 25 s cd (unless the engi have the evade trait).
Target the engi first with condi spam. Watch him melt.

Personally, I think the mortar nerf was a bit too much. Then again, I still use it because I never used it for the AA that much; I mean engineers have so many things coming off cooldown at any moment that I would never need to spam the AA anyways. I also would understand if the AA was too good, then there would never be a reason to use any other AA.
Still, I agree disabling grenadier would have been a quick fix— I mean, we already do get 3 nades by default and a not as nerfed mortar would have been a good stopgap, but there you have it. (And where’s my rifled barrels?) And we have ridiculously broken stuff in all 3 game modes, including those guardians overruning doors. :S

I just got literally 1 shot twice in a row from an engi with grenade barrage, and the second time…I was in stealth. I run all valk gear too so im running 17k HP
It was so frustrating I just logged off to kitten about it on the forums and then go play Witcher 3. small scale fights are just turning into who one shots who first

I did this in PVP (no opposing necros were nice enough to stand still for me in WVW).
*Light Golem
*Force and accuracy sigil
*Thief rune
*Zerk trinket
Scholar runes don’t proc enough crits. Thief got 9 of 11 that registered in the combat log. From those 9 crits, we have a mean crit of 1582.89 with a std dev of 77.62. I hit the Light Golem for a total of 14094 damage to one shot it.
Suppose we had a 100% crit rate, that 14 nades hit, and that there was also a necro nice enough to stand completely still on top of an engi with no protection or other buffs. Given the mean crit of above we would do 22160.46 damage… in pvp. In wvw, the engi would need food buffs, all the wvw buffs, and to be full assassin glass (no other way to get the crit rate).
I just don’t see it.

I hate this, people keep defending their actions. No it’s an exploit, and you’re a jerk for using it. It’s a bit harder with grenade kit, since that’s one of the main kits of engineer. But I chose not use it at all on mine. I went mortar in WvW and ran around a bit. I’d rather be kitten than use a broken skill. But that’s me.
In short, Anet fix it already! Fix the symbol bug and the grenade piercing damage!

You wouldn’t have noticed it solo. The 10% damage increase applies to every symbol you stand in, even other guardians. So until you are running with a group of guardians, you wouldn’t notice it. And thus you can see why guardians were stacking them and killing a gate in 16 seconds.

While I was on my Survival Ranger, just after Gate Of Madness had taken our keep in Eternal Battlegrounds, I was standing around outside our spawn with a few other players. A few GoM were staring us down in the distance from the foot of our keep they had just captured and suddenly I was insta-downed as an Engi revealed himself in front of me.
With all Rabid armor, Rabid weapons and Dire/Rabid accessories, I had 3.1k toughness and 21k on my health bar. With Bark Skin, I would have taken 33% reduced damage while above 90% health meaning I effectively had 3.3k toughness. And I was one-shot from full health.
I don’t have screens, so if you don’t want to believe it go ahead. You’ll believe it when you get hit by it.

If you’ve ever used the arrow cart exploit to clear siege inside a tower, it’s effectively the same thing. And if you’re from Borlis Pass, Kaineng or Sanctum Of Rall, three servers quite fond of doing this, I don’t think you have any room to speak.

I have not use it, nor am I from those servers. I have seen people say “Let me use it, I can hit it.” And then I get angry think I should leave because I know they are exploiting. But I imagine every server does it. And no one really cares if I slam my foot and say “NOT OKAY!” I’m just the one everyone rejects because I don’t conform.

First, spawn campers deserve to carpal tunnel syndrome. That engi is a tool.
Given the current bug, I believe that if the engineer was full glass with the appropriate foods and buffs that each grenade could achieve a 1.8k average crit hit on a lightly armored target (see my earlier post). However, I have not been able to replicate those numbers. When I ran my engi last night in WVW, I was popping 1.4k’s at most and landing maybe 5 of the nades from GB for a total of around 4-5k. That’s within the same realm as other professions hit me for. The combat log would be interesting to see, and it’s a shame you don’t have it.
You got hit in the perfect scenario – immobile, unaware target. Consequently, a thief could have wrecked you in 2 backstabs given the same scenario. Insta-down in two back-to-back hits or eleven to fourteen simultaneous hits. Both happen before you can respond.

With certain game mouses you can easily macro a button to do barrage and then another set of grenades. While it isn’t quite a one shot, the timing between hits is so slim a person could not react in time. This gives extra damage and you can even macro multiple sets of grenades with the barrage. In the span of a second you can macro a barrage +6 grenades and since it is, essentially, an insta-hit the person doesn’t have time to react. ***Edit*** I should have mentioned it is very unlikely you would be hit by every single one of those. I guess it is possible, but highly unlikely.
Personally, I could care less at this point. There have always been skills/traits that were way overpowered while others were never used, or only used by people not yet 80. I don’t expect them to fix much and I expect half of the fixes to screw other things up.

Incorrect, with borderlands bloodlust, each stomp is worth 1 point. Sure, in the long run, 1 point isn’t that important. We’ll see tonight when Maguuma does our Engineer blob how fast that OP grenade barrage can take down gates then maybe Anet will fix it too.

Macros (other than for instruments) are banded by ANet. If you suspect someone of using macro’d nades, please report.

Incorrect, with borderlands bloodlust, each stomp is worth 1 point. Sure, in the long run, 1 point isn’t that important. We’ll see tonight when Maguuma does our Engineer blob how fast that OP grenade barrage can take down gates then maybe Anet will fix it too.
My server does fun-run profession zergs once a month. We did engi a few months back and still rofl stomped anything we ran across – supply crate + nades = insta-ded. Surprisingly, we still used siege against reinforced doors; we couldn’t burst those down quick enough.

Many things are banned or even bigger exploits that haven’t been addressed in this game for months and many times longer. I expect to continue to see the hacks being used over and over again with only minor steps to curtail it.

One shot? Be less glassy. You don’t get killed by GB if you’re not being too classy… I mean glassy.
You could have 26k health on a necro, and grenade barrage with grenadier will still down instantly. It isn’t the same regardless of the sarcasm.
Screens or it didn’t happen. Better yet maths. Please, please, show that a 26k health necro can be insta downed by a single engi GB.
While I was on my Survival Ranger, just after Gate Of Madness had taken our keep in Eternal Battlegrounds, I was standing around outside our spawn with a few other players. A few GoM were staring us down in the distance from the foot of our keep they had just captured and suddenly I was insta-downed as an Engi revealed himself in front of me.
With all Rabid armor, Rabid weapons and Dire/Rabid accessories, I had 3.1k toughness and 21k on my health bar. With Bark Skin, I would have taken 33% reduced damage while above 90% health meaning I effectively had 3.3k toughness. And I was one-shot from full health.
I don’t have screens, so if you don’t want to believe it go ahead. You’ll believe it when you get hit by it.
First, spawn campers deserve to carpal tunnel syndrome. That engi is a tool.
Given the current bug, I believe that if the engineer was full glass with the appropriate foods and buffs that each grenade could achieve a 1.8k average crit hit on a lightly armored target (see my earlier post). However, I have not been able to replicate those numbers. When I ran my engi last night in WVW, I was popping 1.4k’s at most and landing maybe 5 of the nades from GB for a total of around 4-5k. That’s within the same realm as other professions hit me for. The combat log would be interesting to see, and it’s a shame you don’t have it.
You got hit in the perfect scenario – immobile, unaware target. Consequently, a thief could have wrecked you in 2 backstabs given the same scenario. Insta-down in two back-to-back hits or eleven to fourteen simultaneous hits. Both happen before you can respond.
A bit late now that it’s been fixed but here’s a valid video showcasing what it was like in WvW.

Nice montage, SpellOfIniquity.1780. I saw a ton of clothies go down, and a good many of those were in various stages of depleted health. Very few were truly one-shot. I really wish people would keep up combat log when they record.
I’m glad the bug was fixed. I don’t really run my engi in wvw, but when I do I’ll be running a perplexity condi cancer interrupt build… so that’ll be fun for everyone, and it’s also what Anet wants. Everyone wins.
