Given the recent tragic events at the Boston Marathon this past week, the WvW players of Fort Aspenwood have decided to use their love of Guild Wars 2 and in particular, our love of WvW, to help. A number of players in our community are beginning a pledge drive to support the victims and their families. Individuals will be posting their pledges, however, they will mostly have a WvW flavor to them (thus the post in the WvW forums)… several donations will be based upon the number of player kills, yak slaps, keep captures and other unique metrics.
To help focus our efforts, we have chosen the Massachusetts Governor and Boston mayor formed One Fund Boston Inc. as our charity. The One Fund Boston is applying for 501©(3) and thus, all donations will be eligible as a tax write off. Companies such as CVS, Bank of America, Adidas, AT&T and Bain Capital, as well as local sports teams (Bruins, Red Sox, Celtics) have already made contributions so you can be assured that this is in fact an actual charity and not a scam.
Information on The One Fund Boston and a link to donate are located at: http://onefundboston.org/
We welcome anyone else who wants to participate to post their pledges in this thread as the GW2 player-base has amazing potential to help through its inter-connectivity and strong community. While we are enemies on the battle field, at the end of the day we are all human.
