While you guys are absolutely correct, keep in mind this thread is for Boston victims of the marathon bombings. Like I said before, no one is preventing any of you from doing something similar for any number of other causes or charities, but please don’t come into this thread and try to ruin something that aims to help others in a time of need – it shows a lack of true character and understanding.

Again, no one is stopping you from doing something similar and creating your own drive for donations/charities.

This, this, this this this. Can’t believe folks are arguing over “this tragedy is worse than that tragedy” and are cheapening the thought behind this.

Donating to charities should be inclusive, not exclusive.
Instead of pointing fingers, throw a line, provide options.

I don’t think anyone who posted that there are other charities as well meant it as that it’s wrong to donate. And I feel that being hostile towards these posts is wrong. It’s merely meant that instead of putting all OUR support on one, spread so that money is where it’s needed instead of having excess in one spot while ignoring the other.
In my view, it’s to strengthen the community with that feeling of helping people through donations. It’s not cheapening it at all.

You should have said, “Yeah you’re right, there are other things that can use the money, but this thread is for victims in Boston. Sadly we can’t help everyone.”

Or better, provide options for the other charities. There’s no need to be so hostile to them.

This is a great idea. We’ve got a huge base to work with through these forums.

I’m in at $0.10/kill for this coming week starting at reset; min. of $50.

After reset weekend I’m up to $30. Literally closed out Sunday with a round figure of 300 kills. It always slows down during the week, but I’m hoping to surpass my minimum. Please come at me unarmed and eating a sandwich.

After skipping Saturday night, I added tonight as a “reset weekend” night for me. Final tally came in at 2218 kills and 12 yak slaps. Donation sent in tonight.

I just wanted to thank everyone that is/has participated. This is just a rough cut estimate based upon forum pledges I have seen on these forums and the FA forums, as well as mail and PM messages I have received, but overall so far it looks like we have raised $1,698.

Thank you everyone that has spread word of the drive and/or participated. As others have previously mentioned, Guild Wars has an amazing player base and community and I’m extremely heartened to see it take up a few good causes in this thread.
