They are fixing fractals, invaliding that concern in its entirty (adding in rejoin on disconnect, and the ability to play to the highest level fractal of the party)
They are slowly nerfing thieves. (which is smart, wild swings with nerfbats crit player populations for huge damage)
They are adding more level 80 content.
Its just not coming fast enough I guess?
Which if this is the case, put the game down and come back in a month or two.

I don’t understand why people hate him for telling his reasons. Perhaps theif apologists don’t want the class to be balanced?
You see these posts in every forum of every single game. People who dislike the game or have an issue with it. Thieves need some work done, yet non of my friends nor guildies have issues with them. We travel together and when a stupid class cannon theif pokes his head out I blow his head off. (I am anengineer the same as you).

As well as the vast amount of posts saying almost the same thing, those have all also been solved today by you guys.The game is perfectly balanced now. It turned out to all be, because I was a noob, and I didn’t know how to play. It is a good thing you guys figured that out.
Wow… you might want to search on the internet more for tips vs thieves… there was already one in this thread (which you seem to have ignored). Since you’re having problems… I’ll help you out with some obvious ones that I use on my eng (who also has no problem with thieves).
Engs are generally built to be a support class. If you’re out running alone, then you should be build more like a tank and not like a support toon (look in the eng section of this forum for the tank cat build for an example).
More general tips… PAY ATTENTION!!! Keep your finger on your stun break at all times. The auto Elixir S at 25% helps a lot as does having Elixir S in your toolbar. Big ol’ bomb is also a great tool for keeping foes at bay. Toss Elixir R can be tossed just before you go down and will give you a high chance at an instant self-revive.
If you decide to run a squish eng… and then go out alone… and then get killed by a thief because you can’t react fast enough… then sorry, but that’s your own fault.

That thief may be able to back stab you for 15k, but if he messes up then he’s pretty much up poop creek unless he runs away. I used to run back stab spec in wvw until I realized that it was way too situational. Now, I go with the much ignored s/d, no where near as big crits (5k max) but still able to hold it’s own in a 1v1 fight. A good engi or mesmer can still give me a run for my money though. It really does boil down to player skill imo. Some people seem to think that they should be able to run around spamming their auto attack and pretty much kill anything.
Thieves really are completely kitten I have no idea why Anet hasn’t done anything to fix them. It isn’t even about balance, it’s about them being the most frustrating and angering class in the game by far. I’m so kittening sick of thieves.

Who gives a kitten about the kitten downed state? It shouldn’t even exist at all. Remove downstate, and do the same thing to thieves too.

I haven’t had a single issue with culling since their last patch/fix to where your foes now appear before your allies.
My rig isn’t even anything special… a 1 year old Hp with extra ram + new graphics card shoved in there + nothing starts up when I boot it. If you’re still having issues with people not rendering you might need to upgrade your computer or lower your vid settings.

I would love that. Every other non-Ele class would. Ele’s have the strongest down state in the game right now by far…
But back to my original point… your ele is annoying (in some cases like when near a keep impossible) to kill regardless of the skill of the ele. Thieves can be stopped with tatics and if they mess up they die… unlike your ele… unless you’re bad at using #2 on down (lawl). You have no reason to be complaining about how hard a thief is to kill as an ele right now.

Anet has admitted that it’s still broken. My video settings are already performance optimized.
How old is your comp and who made your graphics card? I know some just seem to work better than others with certain games. I’m using a Nvidia g-force and it’s working very well (even though it’s a bit old).

Im a glass cannon thief, and the most ive ever been insta gibbed for is 12k + 5k by another thief.
If you runn glass cannon , u gotta expect such things. Ive been hit by that much be a warrior and a elementalist too.
Dont wanna go down fast? Dont run glass cannon. Simple.
You are lucky then because I am a bunker elementalist that gets hit like this.
13.6k backstab on me before with 2600 armor. 9k+ kill shot from a warrior, too.
ele bunker is not defense so much as it is having the increased health and healing to survive openers. I like being a bunker ele, because roaming is more my style. Even if I’m not making as many badges as I would via grouping.
Im also quitting until Thieves are being changed drastically. I dont care about any sort of discussion. This is the reason I personally cant enjoy playing, so obviously I quit until its being worked over. If not, then its a perma glhf :-)
This game will never be balanced. burst is too high. No one likes dying instantly regardless of possible counters. In case people didn’t realize you cant always expect to see the 50,000 culled/stealthed thieves in wvw so when you’re having an epic 5v5 fight and your health suddenly disappears, you really wonder why you bother speccing into tough/ ..playing gw2 in general.
Necromancers, guardians and warriors are so overpowered, I can’t instantly kill them with my glass cannon thief and if they cc me, then I have almost no chance in a fight, it just isn’t fair.
Then there are the elementalists, they can just soak all of the damage with all those boons up and and that water attunement, and even if I manage to down one, they just pop back up and run inside their tower/keep so their friends can res them. Even if I burn all of my initiative trying to kill one, they can just run away and I can’t catch them. I though MY class was supposed to be based on mobility… now even rangers and necromancers have the same passive movespeed, and some classes can even have perma-swiftness.
Well, at least no one else has stealth… wait, mesmers have stealth too? And decoys to distract and damage me? And other illusions that can attack me while the mesmer is at a safe distance? And they can quickly put a bunch of stacks of confusion on me so my fast attack speed just burns through my health while I can’t find the actual player?
On top of that, how come every other class/build has so much more cc than my d/d thief? All I have is a cripple, unless I use venoms or traps which take away from other useful utilities that I need for defensive purposes, like daggerstorm or thieves guild for when I run into more than 1 or 2 other people.
Also, why does every other class have access to a 1200 range (or even 1500 range) weapon with multiple attacks, even a supposedly melee class like warriors…heck, even the guardian has TWO attacks at 1200 range, not even including their 1200 range on tome of wrath). All I have is one ability, clusterbomb, which takes 25% (20% when traited) of my initiative for each attack? It’s so easy to run out, then I have to be well inside everyone else’s range to do any damage in a ranged fight.
And I haven’t even gotten to damage. Did I mention that I have less than 13,000 health and only 916 toughness? Do you know how fast other people’s attacks go through my health bar? It’s pretty much non-existent. All I have is a couple of 3-4 second stealths to avoid attacks, and hopefully people haven’t stacked too many conditions on me. Also, if I get hit and jump into stealth, hopefully I don’t dodge back into something like a meteor shower, each blast takes nearly 40% of my health!
There are things that are difficult, no, impossible to deal with in this game….I am quitting until thieves are buffed.

This makes no sense. They changed the culling for a trial for 2 weeks, everyone complained it was worse, so they reverted it. The culling now works the same broken way it did when the game came out.

I’m guessing you are being sarcastic. I have an 80 guardian in full exotics, crit hammer build and I’ve been 2 shotted by thieves lots of times. I also have an 80 ele D/D full exotics and thieves are the only class that can catch me. It’s 50/50 whether or not I get away depending on what cool downs are active. I’ve been 1 and 2 shotted by thieves without ever seeing them many, many times since on my ele I mostly roam solo scouting. Down state 2 is pretty good, but only near a tower/keep. I play exclusive WvW and I manage to get saved by down state 2 maybe 15% of the time. Mostly it’s just a couple second delay till I’m finished.
I think unless you play a non-thief class and roam solo or 2-3 people you probably never notice the thief problem. Largest hit I’ve ever seen my ele D/D do is about 4k and that’s on a long cool down, has an obvious animation and a 5 second cast time.
An elementalist soloed me and five other guys! I have 16 thousand health and two thousand armour! He just kept fighting through all our attempts to stop him and killed us all! Don’t tell me that we need to l2p you dirty elementalist apologists, I don’t need your ‘tips’ because I shouldn’t have to adjust my play style at all to compensate for others. My build is pefect as is and as such Elementalists are clearly extremely OP and no class should be able to survive so easily in the face of a full group of people! I’m quitting GW2 until elementalists are nerfed.

1. that combo is incredibly easy to avoid
2. shes opening herself up to double damage
3. she cant stealth stomp/stealth away as she pleases
4. nice stun break utils lol
5. he has assassins sig and quickness ready to do the exact same to someone else.
