Guild Upgrade Problems/Solutions
In theory if something like this was in place … my only question is …
How would they be spent by a server? Can anyone log in and use it (I mean it’s free so who cares if a troll wastes them)?
Ehhh, you gotta consider the price to scribe the upgrade, not the price to make the upgrade itself. You never lose the ability of scribing the said upgrade, which is what these 42g represent. The actual cost of this upgrade is ~3g, and only because it takes 24 Flax Fibers to be crafted like every other WvW schematic.
Also, we all know Guild Halls were meant to be some major money sink. They wanted to make some materials prices rise (such as leather) and make some materials that people would just sell at vendor go back to trading post (such as mithril).

One of the most frustrating things are people pulling the tactivators and wasting the upgrades after all the time and gold spent in making them.
I really hate having to un-check the public activation box for the sake of a few people trolling.
- Most camps have zero tactivators all of the time.
- This is an indicator of whether or not it is worthwhile to make/use these guild upgrades. Evidently it is not.
- This is because there’s not enough reward for the cost and risk.
- Something needs to change and I suggest that it be the crafting cost.
The only two components our guild’s scribe is in short supply are Badges of Tribute and Flax Fibers. The former is available from playing WvW and I have no argument on that.
The problem is Flax Fibers which are only available (in sufficient quantities) in PvE. This needs to change. Either make them available in WvW (loot tables, reward track, whatever) or remove them from Scribing; whichever is easier.
ANet has been fully aware of the problem by creating special farm areas for Flax Fibers in PvE zones.
Many players have their alt characters permanently parked in those areas. They play each character few mins per day only to harvest these areas. Is this engaging and fun content? Don’t the PvE designers have any pride in their work?
As result those players who refuse host farm alts are forced to make gold transfers via trading post. Why do WvW players have to finance PvE farmers?
This won’t hurt [Much]
